There's some arguments about whether the movies are canon or not but overall despite whatever the author says - you can skip them and only watch the main seasons without feeling like you missed something.

My Hero Academia begins the story of a life set in a special world. Every creature there has a superpower or Quirk.
This world is also inhabited by various heroes with super powers and most of its inhabitants are strong.

However, there is an innocent, special, weak, and powerless young person who lives in that world. He is Izuku Midoriya or Deku (Daiki Yamashita).
Izuku is not strong like his other friends. He was often bullied and discriminated against by the people around him.
One of them is Katsuki Bakugo (Nobuhiko Okamoto) who often bullies Izuku because he is weak.
Living side by side with super people doesn't mean Deku also has a Quirk. However, he has a great interest in learning.
His dream since childhood was to become a superhero. However, as he grew older, it seemed that his dreams were not easy to achieve because of his limitations.

In the synopsis of My Hero Academia, it is also said that Deku has an idol hero, All Might (Kenta Miyake).
Every day, Deku continues to try, train, and learn about how he can be like the unrivaled All Might.
Deku also enrolled at U.A school, a prestigious educational institution known for its extraordinary hero training program
This school is the target of many young people and is one of the most favorite so competition for entry is quite tight.
After meeting All Might, he had a lot of confidence and believed that Deku had the soul of a hero and could be his successor in the future.
Deku's attitude of wanting to learn and having the heart of a hero was able to make All Might submit so that he was willing to give him the full knowledge of his powers.
Moreover, Deku's basic ability to get All Might's recognition is very promising if he becomes a superhero.

However, Deku's struggle after being trusted by All Might did not stop there. Deku still has to complete his education.
He also has to deal with other students who are no less talented, then there is the threat of an organization with evil intentions because they both have the ambition to become superheroes.
