These series take place in a valley near a snow covered mountain, where the most important main character lives in a cylinder shaped house. The characters are more or less humanoid creatures. The series cover the daily lives and adventures of the characters in pretty much independent stories, which take place over the 4 seasons (fall, winter, spring, summer).

These family-friendly shows take place in the forest where the child protagonists have adventures. Watching "Belfy to Lillibit" and "Sanzoku no Musume Ronja" make me want to run off into the woods and be a kid again! They also take you back to a simpler way of life, when there was no gadgets or TV (or even electricity and running water!) but still plenty to do when you ventured outdoors with friends and family members. Can't recommend these highly enough to sit and enjoy with your children!

The charming adventures of tiny little people surviving in a big world. Both are family friendly and utterly enjoyable.

These child-friendly 80's anime series feature blonde female leads that are upbeat, spunky and responsible. The stories take place in a classic rural setting where the optimist youngsters have adventures working with the people and animals around them.
