Although Handa in reality isn't as great compared to Sakamoto-kun, the two series are focused on how great both characters are and how they're worshiped at school.

I find them rather similar with school life setting and comedy. While Saiki has supernatural power and Handa-kun is a well-regarded school idol and prodigy calligrapher, all they wanted just a normal/quiet life but often hilarity ensues.

Both set in a school, the MCs aren't good at communicating. But because of a misunderstanding, people think they are very cool, talk less, wise, even worship them like gods. All happened with most people unaware of the case.

School life setting plus comedy. Both series main characters avoid being the center of attention but often misunderstood for their action.

Both have MC with very unnusual personality trait and the story revolves around that

Highschool comedy setting with a lot of misunderstanding. In Gamers! It only revolves around the 5 Main Characters, while in Handa-kun it involves more characters but with Handa as the center of misunderstandings.

Hey you, if your shy person, maybe these anime make you feel identified or make you see another perspective. Both have an insecure protagonist who has a hard time having friends out of fear, grief or what they think. Still he has a friend. Throughout the series, he will be forced to try to change, even if he sees it differently for his eyes. What's different is that in WataMote, the girl wants to be popular and in Handa-kun, the boy doesn't want to attract attention. In addition to addressing this, you will find funny situations caused by your insecurities

Both MCs are fanatically loved by people around them. Every random little thing they do is over interpreted in a way which makes them seem like geniuses thinking 100 steps ahead. Also, both are incredibly lucky because no matter how rash their actions are, in the end the result is amazing. Absurd comedy at its best.

I found these two similar mainly because of the several misunderstandings that occurred throughout each series; leading to multiple comedic scenarios. However, the misunderstandings are more extreme in Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun as though it is a character itself, it also occurs more often compared to Handa-kun. Both series also focuses on a group of characters in a school setting throughout each series. The level of admiration shown by the Handa fan group/ followers is also similar to the way Chiyo 'admires' Nozaki.

Both MC are misunderstood for what they are not and it creates a really funny scenes.

I agree! Can't believe Gintama only has 1 rec. I have seen the first 3 recommendations above this one, but while watching the anime, I actually thought about how much it really reminded me of Gintama. Handa-kun and Gintama are my type of humor. Both have hilarious situations, but the cast, which slowly expands, brings it to that LOL level. If you're looking for a similar characters, not here. But, if you're looking for that same type of comedy, THIS is it.

IT IS NOT ROMANCE BUT STILL COMEDY > RELATIONSHIP DEVELOPMENT (LOVE+FRIENDSHIP (HORIMIYA)/ FRIENDSHIP(HANDA-KUN)) > both have a similar but UNIQUE personality > boy is kind of isolated YOU WILL ENJOY TILL END.

If you enjoyed the ridiculous and hilarious comedy of this show then you would love handa-kun, then if you enjoyed this show make sure to check out season 2 of handa-kun it’s called barakamon still as hilarious just focuses a bit more on slice of life, loved it and both seasons are one of my favorite comedies

This is like a reverse Hand-kun, the guy acts like he can't do anything and everyone treats him stupid, but really he a genius, it's only 6 episodes so not too big of a commitment

both include a school setting. while the MCs are wildly different they share they same over the top comedy.

Similar MC Great dub (some overlap with VA's for Kaido/Aizawa and Kasumi/Teruhashi) Jokes of a similar style *It gets better after episode 1!

These two are best of the best comedy series ....!

The shows are similar in how the main characters see everyone else as a threat, Oreigaru is darker humor with a bit of romance whilst Handa-kun is more slapstick comedy. If you enjoy school animes with unusual male leads you'll like and learn from both.

In both animes the main characters are "described", they are seen through the other eyes not for what they really are. The other characters have more scenes/speaking than the main characters themselves. In Tonari no Seki-kun , Seki is always watched by Rumi Yokoi who is her classmate; in Handa-kun, Handa is always watched by the "Handa-force" ( his four classmates).

Both series feature a lead who everyone thinks is godlike but is actually just misunderstood Both are comedies that use slice of life misunderstandings

Hated by everyone around or being too cautious as to not set off death flags that may speed up the impending doom they are trying to avoid, Sei Handa and Katarina Claes go about their life regarded as outcasts—or at least those are what they believe.

High school boy gag anime. Lots of ridiculous punchlines and goofy gags in both shows, but Handa-kun is more about one guy and his following whereas Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou revolves around a group.
