The DVD was released together with Daiichi's Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Itadaki pachinko slot machine in late July, 2013.

Participants in the Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Sen event, a character poll held on the official website between June and July 2013, had the chance to win 30 copies of the DVD.

The first half of this OVA received an early screening at a presentation event for the pachinko slot machine on June 11, 2013.
