Cowboy Bebop has more fantasy to it then Lupin III has, but both deal with the same kind of characters on episodic (mis-)adventures throughout the series. Both are action-packed and have a small cast of characters.

While Brygar/Braiger/Brigar has nothing to do with Monkey Punch, the characters have the same kind of design, and the whole series has this awesome sense of style that you can only find in 70s and early 80s anime. In fact, the J9 team is pretty similar to Lupin's,too.

Pretty old anime about a smart group of thieves that always get what they want. Both also have the stupid, unlucky police officer who always try to catch them (and always fails), and in both the male protagonist always gets tricked by the beautiful woman he's in love with.

Both are Monkey Punch's works, and have the same feeling to them. The Lupin characters appear many times in the Mankatsu shorts.

Both these series can be classified as anime classics. Even though Cobra is more fantasy than Lupin both series deal with the same kind of protagonists and other various characters that go on missions and quests for their own good (and sometimes that of others).

Vibrant, stylish shows about goofy criminals accompanied by jazzy music. There is no way that Great Pretender wasn't heavily inspired by the Lupin series.

Besides being about a criminal that escapes from the law, they also share Miyazaki Hayao.

Both are Adventure, Comedy, Shounen Both have a main character who - is funny, and loveable - is an amazing thief - always have a certain pesky detective showing up to get them - give an advance notice they are going to steal something (at least most of the time as far as i can remember) Lupin has a very different animation style from Kaitou Joker. you might not get into it right away, but the characters are awesome. its a classic, and very funny once you get to know the characters a little better. Hope you enjoy :]

Both these titles are about acquiring items, either by stealing (Lupin III) or by archeology (Montana Jones). The episodes are pretty much stand alone, with the characters having adventures in different parts of the world. The main character team consists of the some males, and a female (who can be actually useful if she wants). There is also an antagonist who shows up in almost every episode. His name starts with Z. However, Zenigata in Lupin III is on the side of law and order, and Dr. Zero on the opposite side. If found these titles quite enjoyable as episodic adventure stories.

Thieves that steal weather some very important item or a large sum of money, that are also chased by one particular person but are never definitely caught.

weapon, shot, dexplosion.

Smart and agile Lupin/Sanji have weakness and this weakness is women, especially beautiful, greedy and sly female trief Fujiko Mine/Nami who always tries to substitute and outwit him (as well as other men). Joins the party strong but clumsy samurai Goemon/Zoro and skillful shooter Daisuke Jigen/Usopp. Adventure atmosphere and almost identical art.

Two episodic series driven by the personality of their main characters. Taichi Keaton and Lupin III can MacGyver their way out of anything and use their skills to great success (solving a case or stealing valuables). Anyone who enjoys old school anime will appreciate these two titles.

What brings these two vintage anime series together more than anything is how the series mixes comedic episodes with darker stories. Episodes can be cool or silly, which can be problematic if silly humour bore you. For most people, Lupin III and Mobile Police Patlabor will not be their first entry into both franchises. As such, the shift in tones will like be a shock when compared with their more popular movies. Luckily, you'll be prepared for that!

Similar in tone and feel, the first Lupin TV series seems like the next step.

Both of these anime are action-adventure movies about a guy and his helpful partner. And therefore, they both have assassins too.

Both Lupin III and The Big O have this old-fashioned animation style that looks about the same. Although, Lupin has a different storyline, but I see the similarities in both Lupin and Roger, they are (not) detectives, but you know, they have the feeling they want to be one and then act towards being one. They're both pretty fun to watch although The Big O has a more Sci-Fi feel to it while Lupin has this dramatic-comedy feel to it. Both are enjoyable and decent to watch.

It looks so similar to Lupin that I want to say "Monkey Punch, you're stealing from yourself!"
