Both anime are about an armed organization in a politically fractured world. Gundam 00 was the first Gundam series set in the Anno Domini era instead of a non-descript future timeline, only a mere 300 years on. While humans have gotten closer to uniting, they haven't got there yet. The series even namedrops a couple of real life terrorist organizations. Eureka Seven AO, in contrast to its predecessor's alien setting, is a work of alternate history. Instead of the wonderous and fantastic world building Eureka Seven was known for, AO's world is like our own; divided, not united. Some countries that exist in its world do not  read more

Both tell the story of a boy who is thrown into a "new world", having to fight to save the earth. Evangelion focuses on the emotional trauma of these events. Whereas Eureka Seven AO focuses more on the events themselves and the action.

The same character in both anime is only an alien. I don't know that their producer like to put this character into it. But, I still enjoyed this anime.

Both have Huge, pilotted robots, and a modern era vs aliens sort of theme... they're, on the most basic of notions, extremely similiar albeit very different altogether.

Both portrays a story line that sets on a futuristic/ sci-fi world. Both animes have shown the use of manned robotics in thei series.

Similarities: Both have the same sci-fi, mech and action genre. Both involves space invaders invading earth. Both involves school age teens piloting mechs. Dissimilarities: One is set in an alternate timeline where 21st century is yet to come. while the other is already in an alternate future. The main character in the other anime is a girl, while in the other one is a boy. One only involves 3 mechs while in the other anime involves a lot of mechs. I've already dropped the other one, while the other, I'm yet to give it a benefit of a doubt.

The similarities between these two series are the two main attractions: mechas and fighting aliens. What's very similar about the mechas is the ability to transform into jet mode and humanoid form. One cool thing to note are the pilot characters. Both series have the common concept of forming a 3-man team when sortied.

- Same Studio Bones - Director Kyouda Tomoki directed all of the E7 franchise and the Rahxephon Movie (being a summary movie to the TV show with alternate ending, which is a bit more grounded and less "esotheric-mysterious" than the main show) - elaborate mecha designs in both shows - near future Science Fiction - both contain episodes about identity/trauma issues, which slightly step out of line as they have more of a tone of dementia/mindfuck compared to the other episodes - main character share the common theme of finding a place where to belong, after loosing their initial home, which however didn't really feel like a true home - both  read more

A group of children use mechas or mecha-based abilities to protect the world from mysterious invading entities that have more to them than initially suspected. There are also some other similarities between these two series that you will notice once you get far enough into the storyline. I'll leave that as a surprise.

In order to stop an alien invasion children pilots are needed as they are the only ones who can save Earth from destruction. There is also a lot of angst in these series.

Very similar story lines and very similar concepts and yet they are different at the same time. I won't go into detail as I don't wish to provide spoilers for those who haven't seen on or the other.

The mecha are piloted by children in order to protect the planet.

Both of these Anime are sci-fi that feature children pilots. The color schems are also similar and the character designs are very detailed.
