Is it just me or does the crime in this article bear an uncanny resemblance to what happened in the last episode?

My 12 year old just started Jr High he is in 6th grade which is considered middle school. Well he's not a fighter, or trouble maker he generally get along well with his peers. His first week of middle school, he was involved in a fight with a child whom he didn't no he my child tried walking away from this kid until the kid hit him then he hits the child back and was suspended from school for 10days. I asked my child were was his teacher at since other children broke the fight up my child said that he didn't no. I am floored because 10 days is harsh for a 3 min shoving match with no teacher around to assist. I'm thinking about taking this to the board of education but I'm not sure what to do what do you all think is the best way to address this?

His reputation of one who won't back down from a fight, it can be considered a deterrent the next time another kid tries to mess with him. It's 6th grade, no big woop.

That does resemble the last episode a lot.
My friend told me that she read/heard that something similar to the last episode also happened in Japan.
Wheww... there are some crazy people out there. XD
