Magi: The Kingdom of Magic

Magi has less comedy than FT but bot are similar because of the personality of the characters in both shows and the setting is fairly similar too.. 

Both have a small number of main characters, but the show includes a wide range of other interesting characters. Magic are in both and I relly enjoy the magic-based stories. They could both also be considered adventure animes. ^^ 

Entertaining stories in a world of fantasy and magic. 

Similarities: -Friendship thing (not exactly thrilled about that but if you dig it then hey all power to you) -Justice prevails thing -Elemental powers thing -Similar characters thing (even the hair color schemes lol) -Similar comedy thing -Similar art style although Magi's is more modern -Adventuring -The fights are dragged on (not thrilled about this either although I did enjoyed the fights for both shows) -You're never sure who the main character actually is out of the main two lol -And to top it off similar bizarre ship wars in the fandoms who doesn't want this :D (ok this one was sarcastic of course. Don't join either fandom man. Avoid avoid avoid. Just watch the shows.) How they differ: -Magi has more plot twists. -Magi contains some mature contents so it tends to be somewhat deeper. -It doesn't have AS much nakama bs as Fairy Tail (but still contains some into some degree) read more 

The best way to put this (without giving anything away) is that magi is the spiritual successor to FMA Brotherhood. Really similar vibe as neither is a typical shounen anime. 

The main characters are very endearing, they have their own personality and are not very similar to those in FMAB. However, the main story are likely, especially the end. It's two world of "magic", but in a different kind. FMAB is more based on, close to science where as Magi is more a fantasy world, which reminds me a little of Harry Potter, because we're discovering it at the same time as the characters. To my mind, it's very psychological, there's a lot of moral, friendship and a main goal. There is a lot excellent fight too, very well presented, and it's also pretty fun too. The two anime is very likely but also different, because of theirs large topics which each of anime is focused on. In to my opinion, i have not any preference between this two, because even if the story is kind of similar, the main emotion which we can feel is a little different. I felt more pain, struggle, strong feeling in FMAB in every single episode where as in Magi, it was more hope, joy, a little fear and a lot of compassion but in the whole anime. But if I had to choose one of them, i'd probably chose FMAB because it's maybe more dynamic for me, intense emotionally. read more 

They have nothing in common except for the originality of their stories being very successful and great for marathon  

As you can notice how important the friendship and teammate elements are very important during the series. Hunter X Hunter is a must watch if you like Magi! I'm a big fan of both shows and I can tell how much they are familiar! The fighting styles are fairly similar to Magi, including the settings of the story and pretty much the artstyles as you can trust MadHouse. Though Magic is not included ((cough Hisoka cough)) in the HxH series, they are both very popular Shounen series. Both shows does also focus on side character's stories as it makes the show more intense and relaxing to watch. read more 

Both of these anime feature a charismatic and friendly protagonist who is oblivious to the malice of the world. Both of these protagonists (Aladdin in Magi and Gon in HxH) are incredibly forgiving of the transgressions of their enemies and they see the horrible world that both of them reside in through very bright lenses. They can't (or maybe don't want to) see the darkness present within others. Both of these anime involve the main characters embarking on a journey or adventure of one sort or another and both contain plenty of high-octane fights with aesthetically pleasing visuals and cool power systems. Djinn Equips(Magi) make up for their lack of creative use and specialization with sheer flair and flamboyance. Both anime contain themes of vengeance and whether or not vengeance is truly right. There are plenty of other things, however, saying more will ultimately spoil things for you. If you liked one, you'll probably like the other. read more 

Magi is the most similar to HxH of anything I've watched, Kingdom especially, but is still unique with its own charm in many ways. The power system is similar to the power system of HxH, Aladdin is similar to Gon Freecss in some ways(they're both voiced by Erica Mendez in the dubs as well), friendship, moral complexity, journeys and redemption are big themes in both series, and HxH has many well-written characters just as Magi does. I definitely recommend HxH to a fan of Magi.  

Magi is like a condensed version of One Piece set in quite a different setting with ensemble cast similar to One Piece. Alladin/Luffy have a strong sense of responsibility that is concealed by their carefree nature. Both are young, have a huge potential to become legendary heros and destined to posses god-like power in the future. Both have to go through ordeals although ordeals faced by Alladin pale in comparison to those faced by Luffy. In both anime, life energy serves as source of power although it is presented differently in both anime. Sindbad is Shanks. Kouen Ren is Whitebeard. Cassim is Ace. Judar is Blackbeard. There are so many comparable characters. Multiple kingdoms, war, politics, slavery, poverty, racism... So, much is common in both anime. However, the biggest similarity is that both seem to have a light hearted feel about them yet in reality are mature and dark enough to touch some series social and political issue present in our real world. read more

Same amount of both comedy and seriousness. They may have different stories, but the feel is a bit similar. 

Both of these animes are set in a fantasy world where magical powers are used in order to fight. They both involve dealing with a kingdom(or empire) where the corrupted nation needs to be fixed. Also, they show that comrades have such strong bonds between each other like a family would have - rescuing/saving, protecting, sacrificing and dying. Although they have awesome actions scenes, Akame ga Kill! is way more violent as you can see the excessive blood gushing out everywhere, and people being sliced in half and blown to pieces. Despite the bloody scenes, they both have great and interesting storylines which would make you keep wanting to watch the next episode. Thus, if you enjoyed Magi, then I'd recommend Akame ga Kill! read more
