Tokyo Kaido was a quirky but really compelling read, great all around.

I am sad english speakers can't read the fantastic manga he's done that are not dragon head. Chiisakobee, Maiwai, Tokyo Kaido. They tackle completely different themes from dragon head and his art in them is pristine. Not trying to discredit dragon head here.

Dragon Head had a phenomenal narrative structure--the best kind of restricted narration. I think a lot of people resent it because it didn't have a "real" ending and never made clear what happened. But I think that was the whole point, we saw the events from the perspectives of someone kind of unrelated to them. Not everything has to have the heroic shonen trope where the kid magically saves the day.

I should check authors' pages more often. Dragon Head was really shitty
