As a matter of fact, myself and some other friends of mine are planning on buying headphones. Personally, I have basic understanding of what to look for. I would love to say I have a higher understanding, but I don't.

This is where I need some help.
What qualities or specifications for headphones are good to have in general? Not just to cater to individual needs, but something you would assume most people would enjoy having in a headphone.

Also, explaining some audio terminology would be greatly appreciated.

Essentially, I'm hoping for this to become a Headphone Buying Guide.
