.... those last couple episodes were a bit too real. So I'm very curious - if you were in Retsuko's shoes, would you have dumped or kept Tadano?

It was just a massive conservative japanese propaganda, so yeah, she should kept wiith Tadano if her only reason to keep at the job was to "have an anchor to keep on living the average person life".

I get that but it wasn't just about the job. She also wanted to get married and have a family and he didn't want that which doesn't just pertain to Japan's cultural setting - the "obsolescence of marriage" is a hot button topic anymore.

Tadano was right.

I can't help but feel Retsuko's decision was too arbitrary and egoistic.
She would have got anything she wanted, and she could've even try to change his point of view.
But no, she decided to throw it all away, magically forgetting that she totally opposed to the idea of marriage just a few episodes earlier.

No. This is fundamental. If you can't agree or make a sacrifice yourself - you cannot change someone or make someone make a sacrifice themselves. Also I can't believe this is 50/50 right now lol. Wow.

He obviously was right, marriage is just a social construct, it has no intrinsic value, but I think the message of those episodes was that sometimes the illogical choice is the right choice for you. It's a good thing she choose what made her happy but personally disagree with that decision.

They're both right. Adults choose the path their lives will take. It's fine to be married, it's fine to be single (legally). Incompatibility in this area usually cannot be resolved. You can't change what someone else desires.

If you really want your significant other to be an integral part of your everyday life, the legal benefits afforded to married couples are quite appealing. Yes, many marriages fail and end in divorce, but that doesn't mean they have no merit. Marriage is risky, but human beings take many risks throughout their lives.

Choose your own adventure and support the people close to you choosing their own.

Actually, I understand Tadano.. but he should understand that girl's dream is to have wedding and family. That's my biggest dream too :( I feel Retsuko.. I completely understand her. I don't hate Tadano on his decision though, it makes me so sad.. maybe he didn't love Retsuko that much. I want Retsuko to fight her love but I don't want to see her to force wedding to Tadano. Sad but thank you, next T______T

I cry so hard to the break up, I'm so dramatic :(
