Hi everyone, let's use this thread to discuss what's happening each week with The Irregular at Magic High School! Anime spoilers are allowed but please no LN spoilers here.

So what did everyone think of the first episode? There are a lot of things I really liked about it, animation was nice and that story has potential in my opinion. I'm really having a hard time getting past the whole brother-sister thing though, that's a bit of a shame.

Edit: Apparently someone had the same question about the incest angle as I did http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=1132283. This is good, I much better about this series now.

Ah that makes me feel better about it. Irregular is #2 in my premier rankings, but I still have Brynhildr and Captain Earth to watch yet. Been busier than normal this weekend...

I like how the MC is the super competent version of Rock Lee. I think I recognize some voice actors I like in there too.

Yup agreed, I actually like a lot of the characters shown so far, character designs are nice too. Captain Earth was pretty good but preferred based on first impressions.

Magical Warfare was like the warm up act for this show. The art style and setting are similar.

Luckily, this show actually seems to know what it's doing.

Agreed, I watched the first episode of Magical Warfare and it lost me at the part where she got her magic and her boobs grew

So, just re watched the first episode, and was able to pay more attention since I was not folding laundry this time. Just noticed that the little sister in this really similar (in appearance) to the little sister in "Recently, My Sister is Unusual". I got a laugh outta that.

I think Erika is my favorite character at this point, I love the expressions on her face and her lines while she casually teases that Leo guy, especially the first time they talk and she waives him off at the end. I'm totally shipping those two.

Yup, Erika is great and my favourite already. Seems like this show will have some likeable characters.

Yeah that siscon thing seems to be a reoccurring gag, but it doesn't seem like it will go anywhere. Harem seems pretty big actually.

I actually don't mind the way they are handling the sister complex, they seem to be poking fun at it in a way. But yep Tatsuya's harem is building steam already.

Fun second episode, that OP is great too.

Slower third episode, it got a little awkward during the scene with Tatsuya and Miyuki where he was calibrating her thing

I actually liked this episode a lot. The calibration thing was kind of weird, but I liked how the other security force members weren't huge assholes.

Yeah there is really only that one dude with a problem. I don't get what she did to him after her calibration. Did she kill him and he just reset himself, is a magic AI or something?

Yeah that was confusing to me, I feel like they'll probably clear it up soon. I do think it's slightly hilarious how much power this disciplinary committee has, they're like the inquisitorial squad of anime.

This seemed like the most talked about show among everyone, so I picked it up. It's okay so far. The magic verbiage was a little too much I think. Other than that and a few other small thing, I have no real problems. Erika makes for a likable character. I actually got pretty pumped up when Tatsuya beat the vice president in a duel. I got the sudden urge to shout "get fucked" at the TV.

Is it just me or does it feel like the Tatsuya is kind of robot. I kinda feel like this might be the case when he "rebooted" himself this episode after miyuki's prank. If this is the case, it would certainly explain his stoic demeanor XD

I enjoyed today's episode. It's taking a while to get going but it does seem interesting the way the plot is shaping up. I actually enjoy Tatsuya's character, he's so bland and semi-oblivious to everyone's feelings.

This episode struck me as kind of slow. But that's fine I guess. I also enjoy how Tatsuya casually compliments women and then doesn't realize he's embarrassed them. Kendo Prez seems like he was with that terrorist organization right? Was he the wristband guy?

I feel like I'm starting to lose interest in this show. I mean the action is fairly cool but Tatsuya's character is getting old already with him just being emotionless and perfect. Hope all the world building they are doing in these first number of episodes actually goes somewhere good.
