FYI the word 'life' they were using all over this episode was inochi. Just life, no double entendres.

I thought him being a dragon was suppose to be a big secret? He just casually dropped it on the rose woman like it was no big deal.

Also the rose woman actually had the exact same power as the danger loli?

I'm not sure if I can handle anymore of these epic fights.

Man, that felt like the final episode. Almost got excited.

Where did all of his strength and speed go from that fight when he got home and just immediately got a fist through the chest?

Episode 9

The last two demon knights fall just like that. After Diadora gave Rafflasia a taste of her own medicine and Christina sliced and diced Geolude to pieces, Celina comes to the rescue after the elves struggle with Gelen. And then Dolan goes into the demon realm to fight Georg and thanks to the place being a desolate wasteland, he has no issues going all-out. The elves nearly decided to smash the portal while Dolan was still trapped, but they got everybody to believe in him, and they were rewarded for their faith when Dolan returns. Everything is all well and good again, except it isn't. That's because Dolan got stabbed in the back upon returning to the village as there's something sinister going on. Dolan and company sure showed those demons who's boss, but now somebody is about to do the same to him.

Episode 11

And of course, Dolan brushed off that blindside attack as if it were nothing as it's going to take a lot more than that to kill a dragon. But it turns out that the real effect of that impaling is something else as all of the sudden Dolan is living a nightmare. Verun Village is abandoned, all while Christina and some of the remaining villagers all burn down Dolan's home and his fields, and Dolan completely transforms into his dragon form. That got Dolan to think that his entire human life was just a dream, but Celina coming over to see him says otherwise. And then the one who impaled him, Kalavith, shows herself and is out for blood. That was just depressing to see Dolan go through that, and I hope that Dolan delivers payback to Kalavith with interest.

Pretty late in the show to be introducing the big bad.

They stunningly nailed the absolute mind-numbing boredom one feels listening to someone else ramble about some dream they had...

Episode 12 (Finale)

In the end, Dolan managed to deal with Kalavith and wakes up from his nightmare having decided to enroll at the academy. Dolan's sudden departure from Verun Village causes Celina to pack up and leave the village as her life at the village has lost all meaning without her. Worried about her, Dolan goes back to the village only to find her gone, and Dolan chases her down, finding her by a lake to clear the air. And afterwards, it's off to the academy as Celina and Chris are coming along with him, while telling the villagers that he will be back someday.

Final Thoughts

This show had an interesting concept, relatable characters, and a nice premise. But when came down to execution, it simply falls flat. The first half was solidly done, but then the second half is where things started to show its cracks with a rushed story and things just not transitioning well, especially with the moment that Dolan gets backstabbed. Not to mention the production values as they are what I have come to expect out of this studio. Anyway, it had some fun moments, but at the same time it's nothing memorable and it got boring after a good start.

Grade: D+ (5/10)

Just kiss her you dipshit.

What the fark was that random hodgepodge monster she summoned at the first of the episode? It was barely on screen long enough to register how farked up it was.

I guess I'll give this a 5/10 too. I would have preferred that it stay more slice of life instead of veering off into that terrible demon battle arc.

I'll give it props for one thing at least: It kept Christina firmly as his friend and didn't try to pull a love triangle.

Me: "This is where he asks for Celina to be allowed as a special transfer student, or if there's a way to give her human legs for a while."

Show: "This is where Dolan asks if he can bring a magically enslaved pet with him to school."

THis was kind of boring, but a little less boring than the one with the zombie heroes who raised the boy who got into a totally not gay relationship with the elf with the white hair.

I'll be generous with a 5.5/10

Well would have been nice if they explained who Kalavith was, she is one of the more interesting characters
, from the manga. I had to go check out the manga and it is SO much more interesting than this mediocre adaptation. The biggest problem is they made Dolan too old. They also switched around arcs, the whole magic academy thing takes place after they fight the demons, odd that they split it up, no wonder it seemed so awkward. Anyway yeah so they are all at the school so are all school age (the manga designs are all more like Selina, younger and cuter looking) and it goes the more typical harem route with more girls introduced. The stories get better though with a vampire arc next with some pretty bloody fights. This should have been a lot better, having a monster girl as his main squeeze (wink, wink) should have elevated this to the next tier of this type of show. This just made him seem old and boring instead.

Maybe we should pay more attention to the staff on these things. The overall director didn't really overall direct anything not aimed at children before.
