Why explain one physically impossible thing--that Euphie really shouldn't know enough about to be able to explain anyway--just to completely ignore another when it becomes inconvenient. It's just bad writing where they're trying to be clever one minute only to be dumb almost every other time.

You should get use to the fact that nothing makes sense in anime. How are the girls private parts not frozen after flying at high altitudes wearing skirts.  Why does no one ever need to use the toilet.  How are there children when no one seems to have sex.

Not so much as prevents but realizes she likes girls and having more than one love interest under roof will cause problems and Anis seemed to acknowledge this.

Episode 6

Here comes Tilty, who is quite the expert on curses to do something about the one she got from that dragon, and to do that she gives her a tattoo on her back to help maintain her humanity.    And as for the real reason why the engagement was cancelled, Lainie comes in as she is the one who Algard is in love with to the point that not only did he dump Euphie, but accuse her of bullying her to submission.  But after Anis hears the full story from her in private, it turns out that she seduced Algard without even realizing it, and thus Anis vows to protect her knowing that she has no romantic interest in Algard, as well as to help her control her charming powers.  While that's going on, Chartreuse is up to something.  This pretty much confirms just how messed up Algard is.

This show is progressively more enjoyable. As usual though, the villain lacks motivation: I liked Algard when we first met him—he clearly had something in mind. I hope that's actually the case, and he's not simply evil for no reason, just so there's an antagonist. And while I guess the show isn't going full Maria the Virgin Witch given that Euphyllia wants to integrate Anis's heretical lesbian technology into whatever their magical theology is, that will remain a band-aid as long as we don't actually talk about that theology and just bash the tradition. If the show is smart it won't just run on bad tropes.
I love him who is ashamed when the dice fall in his favour and who then asks: Am I then a cheat? – for he wants to perish.

There's no way they can do high speed maneuvers on that broom without magically cancelling some inertia. On the other hand, catching someone at the last second like that is something that's a bad habit in media and should be avoided.

Agreed. Haven't watched the last few episodes. Have they said anything about the broom being equipped like that? Would be nice if they did. (Why mess with a flying broom anyway? She could have used anything.) But it just comes down to them trying to be clever with the law of gravity in one instance while completely ignoring it the rest of the time. Either act like the laws of physics are so different in this world that dragons can fly and crashing at relatively high speed isn't life threatening, or go all in that they're basically the same. Switching back and forth between the two is just a sign that the author will just make up the rules as needed and the MC's will never come close to being in any real danger.

Are we really having this discussion again? It's about internal consistency. Just look at Kaina of the Great Snow Sea. The people who live way up high have specialized equipment that makes sense for the environment and the people who live close to the surface have their own kind of equipment that also makes sense for the environment. And it's done in a very economical way so they don't spend a ton of time explaining everything. Overall it's a mediocre show, but the world building and internal logic of the show puts this one to shame.

Episode 7

So it turns out that Lainie is a vampire, and she's not exactly in control of herself.  But with help from Anis that she's able to somehow curb her charm ability, though her thirst for blood spikes.  So with Lainie now under their protection, the next order of business is to convince everybody that the inventions and what not Anis have been building are the way of the future.  Given that the audience in the lecture are all nobles who reject her research without a second thought that there was bound to be quite a lot of criticism and blowback.  And it's Euphie to the rescue as she's an amazing public speaker unlike with Anis and understands noble language.  Lots of chatter here, but it's all building towards something big.

I always thought Algard was a pawn, I hope he's not the primary antagonist because he's actually pretty lame.

Or maybe the show doesn't need a real antagonist because it's just about one girl who's already in love waiting for the other girl to realise she is too ;-)

Well, there's a welcome you don't get every day.

Seems that way, though frankly they could just have the male cast drop out of sight and I'd be entirely happy watching this odd bunch of girls do their thing.

Episode 9

With that, the siblings square off against each other as both of them want to revolutionize the world, but in much different ways.  Anis is all about innovation to make life better, while Algard wants to tear this world down and rebuild it from the ground up starting with the kingdom.  Those ideals come to a clash, and in the end Algard finally sees the error of his way.  Seeing Anis relinquish her throne wanting to just focus on making gadgets and stuff to advance the world got him to think that inheriting the throne was not exactly the thing he wanted to do.  And then the minister of magic and his son were the ones who set everything into motion by researching vampires, then using that to turn Lainie into an unwilling charmer and conspiring with Algard to bring down the kingdom.  This felt like the end of the series, but there are still three more episodes left to go as while Algard has been exiled, there's still the matter of who takes the throne since the heir apparent just got disowned, all while Anis has no interest in taking it.

So was Al's plot supposed to be like the Lion General guy in "Realist Hero" where he was just going along with the other plotters to draw them out and eventually force Anis to be the heir to the throne?

Seemed more like an attempted suicide to me. I'll be honest i found that whole thing with Al kinda boring. Maybe i was just distracted by a thought i was having but if it wasn't boring i doubt i'd have been distracted. With that said, even paying half attention, the plan didn't seem that deep.

Granting that that was melodramatic and confused, I'm impressed: Algard was exactly what I'd hoped, his own brand of villain. He just came off as too driven and independent in his lunch with Euphyllia back in the beginning to end up boring. Not that that was actually enough to predict he'd be interesting given how badly these things can be written, but the show set up an aspiration for his character that it ended up achieving. Good job, The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady, or whatever this thing is called (oh, I got it right). I was definitely not expecting an installment in the mouthful isekai genre to end up this good. Though I was kind of hoping Anis would nab Algard as her butler or something, so she can continue enlarging her harem house. I don't see how that'd be against yuri law.

Also, I haven't come up with a full characterization of the yuri formula here, but it seems like dispensing with the angsty aspects of discovering one's lesbian feelings, or reducing it to the clinical, and just starting out with an absurd character everyone clearly loves anyway so the show can just stick in yuri scenes without trying to justify them, works a lot better than the Citrusy stuff.

It was a good episode, I have reappraised my opinion of Algard, he's not very smart but he's at least not lame.
And I do always like to see a reconciliation via beating each other up.

I'm also rather impressed that the two actual villains of the piece didn't get to vanish into the night, and were simply executed.

There's some OK ideas here, but they're very poorly executed. I'm not sure if it's due to laziness, lack of talent, or a bad adaptation. It's most likely a lack of talent with some laziness, but it's also, for sure, a lack of courage. A more respectable story, one not trying to be the typical soft and fluffy anime, would have had Euphie kill off Al so Anis didn't have to do it herself. Even Naruto, the ultimate 'I'm going to save everyone show' killed off their version of this character. The fact Naruto laid out the blueprint for how to do a character like this well leaves no excuse for this show to do it so poorly. They tried so hard to set up Al's motivation as a surprise that they ended making him a completely uninteresting villain until it was too late to care. He also never felt like much of a threat.

It seemed like Al was planning to get killed, so how was he going to out all the other conspirators? Oh well, just another of the many oversights in this story.

Also, another isekai where the isekai part is barely relevant.

I think I'm done with this one finally. I kept hoping it would live up to the potential it had, but I see now that it won't.

Xuhybrid said:

Since they went that route they should have just had her forgive him instead of her throwing out that stuff at the end about never forgiving him and always despising him or whatever it was. That made no sense with everything she said before that.

They haven't mentioned it was an Isekai since the first episode....they need to do this more like Chilin in My 30's, not bother with it being an Isekai.

I think the Al just figured as long as he was dead everyone would have to deal with Anis being queen, or maybe the coconspirators would just be rooted out.

The only relevance it has to the story is that it's the reason she doesn't have magic. Or at least that's my assumption since the show has spent literally 3 seconds on the isekai in this isekai.

Episode 10

With Al now disowned, only Anis can take the throne, and while she accepted it, she's not happy about it.  Euphie, on the other hand, doesn't want her to take the throne knowing that this isn't what she wants.  So she meets up with Grantz to talk about it, and it turns out that there's an alternative to this as a new dynasty can be started, but it's not without its consequences.  However, Grantz knows how she feels seeing that her father Orphanse was in her shoes as he didn't care about ruling and just wanted to live his life for his gardening hobby.  But he accepted the throne and the stress of ruling the kingdom has taken its toll on him.  So that's where things stand as a big decision is coming.

They've talked about spirits before. Honouring the spirits was part of the traditionalist guys argument. Contracting with them is new though.

Episode 11

As for the downside of making that spirit contract, that means Euphie would maintain her youthful appearance forever and she would be asking for a long life of misery if she did make the contract, but as things stand that would be the only way to get Anis out of her obligation to succeeding the throne since there are no other heirs.  And having somebody who can't use magic taking the throne leaves quite a bad taste with the citizens.  So for the same reason why Euphie doesn't want Anis to take the throne, Anis doesn't want Euphie to make that spirit contract for the same reason in that it makes the other quite miserable.  One more episode left to go as Anis and Euphie duel it out to determine the figure of the kingdom.

Episode 12 (Finale)

To end things, Anis and Euphie have their duel seeing that somebody needs to carry on the throne and neither girl wants the other to have to be stuck with it.  The duel was mostly chatter, but in the end, Euphie wins after showing off her amazing skills that were unlocked thanks to her friendship with Anis.  As such, Anis relinquishes her claim to the throne and Euphie goes through with the spirit contract that will allow her to get adopted by the royal family and become the new queen, and seeing that she's much better versed at running a country than Anis will ever be it was the most logical of outcomes save for there being a third person who will rise up to the throne instead.  Not to mention, the citizens will be much more at ease not having to put up with a ruler who can't use magic.  It's going to be a difficult path for Euphie, but she's prepared to face it head-on.  It was a rather predictable ending, but nevertheless it's the most logical outcome and anything else just wouldn't exactly stack up well.

Final Thoughts

This show had its fair share of ups and downs, but it had more ups, especially in the second half when the story became much more focused.  The show does a great job in developing the characters and bonds between the two leads, and the plot construction is well-planned even if the story writing wasn't the most ideal.  While the plot and character focus are great, the story writing is inconsistent as sometimes it's great, and there are episodes where it's a lot of chatter and info dumping that can get really dull and test the viewer's patience.  The animation also isn't the best, but it's sufficient.  In any case, an enjoyable show, but certainly with parts that are not well-written.

5/10 but I will bump it up to a 6/10 for actually following through on the yuri.

Though wouldn't the yuri solution be that they just get married so they're both Queen? Then they can just adopt some random kid for an heir.

any series that ends with some happy sex is ok by me.  Got a feeling if they ever want to have kids they will turn to that big guy helping them build stuff.
