I just recently got into Anime... Should I watch the original Fullmetal Alchemist first?

It isn’t required, but low key 2003 is great as hell so I personally recommend it. A lot of people prefer Brotherhood but 03 has a more fleshed out first half that gets you better acquainted with the world as well as a overall grimmer tone

Absolutely. FMAB ruins the most important part of the story and the best scenes. It starts off with a filler episode and burns through 24 episodes in 10 instead. The teen angst is amped up and the gags are too much.

All in all it's the teenage-ified verson of FMA 03.

I was also confused but they both are not like a continuation. They are 2 different anime which are based on the same manga, kinda like the og Spiderman, the amazing spierman and spierman homecoming, watch brotherhood, no need to watch the original one, this one is better, this one has the highest imdb rating and it is also more connected to the manga so watch fmab(BROTHERHOOD).

FMA orignal is darker,sadder,depressing and slow paced...Its 25 ep are like 10 ep of brotherhood..and storyline diverts from 25 episodes on to anime orignal(i dont remember from when exactly)... I prefer its ending over Brotherhood..but brotherhood is more funny..has better animation...faster pace...and overall is better

Watch both. 2003 first. But if anyone who wants to see it has already seen Brotherhood, I'll never recommend it at all to them. It would be very disappointing to watch if you watch it after Brotherhood.
