The latest Lucifer and Biscuit Hammer was excellent.

This series has some of the most interesting character development I've seen in manga, yet it's contained within a relatively cliche set up.

Wow. You weren't kidding.

The series might be cliched, but it really knows how to tweak them so they feel new and you wont know what's coming.

I just watched the episode of Aoi Bungaku where they adapt Dazai Osamu's short story. Run, Melos. This show is still really pretty on the eyes.

I like what Madhouse did: framing the original short story in a play, and adding an additional story layer on top of it. It's a nice, modern take on the original.

But man, I won't lie, I teared up at the end of the second episode. I've had the same thing happen to me, and I could immediately relate (except it wasn't as long as a 15 year wait, and probably did not have as much BL overtones, but hey). This one was super effective on me.

I laughed when me and my friend watched that scene where Melos encounters some bandits, and he does some wuxia shit to defeat them. My friend said "ah, this must be the part of the original story which they had to amp up for anime," and I'm like "nah, the original literally described him as 'twsiting his body' and 'flying like a bird', 'plundering the club' of the bandit and 'felling him in one savage swing'." Even the "this is for the sake of justice," line was there in the original story.

Basically Dazai Osamu invented the spinazku way before Code Geass.

Finished Last Exile. Good stuff. Ending seemed perfectly serviceable, not sure why the show gets crap for the ending. That said, I didn't understand something:

This show sure did borrow from Miyazaki. And Star Wars, heh.

Kyosuke Kosaka, a normal seventeen-year-old high school student, hasn't gotten along with his younger sister, Kirino, in years. For longer than he can remember, Kirino has ignored his comings and goings and looked at him with spurning eyes. It seemed as if the relationship between Kyosuke and his sister, now fourteen, would continue this way forever. One day, however, Kyosuke finds a DVD case of a magical girl anime entitled Hoshikuzu Witch Meruru (Stardust Witch Meruru), which had fallen into the entranceway of his house. To Kyosuke's surprise, inside the case, an adult video game entitled Imoto to Koishiyo! (Love with Little Sister!) is hidden.

I'm reading yandere kanojo, which has turned out to be reasonably entertaining.

On the visual novel front, I am part of the way through heaven's feel, but so far I prefer the tohsaka route.

Yeah it came out during a time when I didn't have money to spend on anime DVDs, especially buying individual discs. Suppose I could have pirated it like I do everything else, but I usually don't for stuff that's released domestically.

The Major's outfit is a little absurd. How many of those leotards does she own?

Right then, time for another series. To the DVDs this time!

I was watching this when it aired, but only made it to ep4 until I lost track of it for whatever reason. I utterly adore the manga, which is really an entirely different show, so here goes nothing!

And, for a change of pace, I will be watching the dub track~

Le Chevalier d'Eon ep1

I forgot how great this show started off.

Just watched Chat Chat Chat. Kinda shocking that they'd attempt an episode like that. They really captured the tone of an online chat. Except with a lot less racism and swearing.

The tachikoma days after was really funny :)

Haha, "Watanabe... Tanaka... san?" CIA fail.

Okay, in the grim future you can open locked doors with a knife? Without setting off any sort of alarm? Oh shi- I'm trippin balls.

The English adaptation was terrible.

They even cut out the ED theme.
