| Just because the tides turned and now formerly more "hardcore" shows are suddenly entry level doesn't mean elitists will vanish. I certainly wouldn't say old anime in general are mainstream either, just a cherry-picked selection that appeals to a very specific demographic, there's countless of older anime that get next to no discussion these days, and I don't see the mainstream casual audiences flocking to them anytime soon. Elitists do exist still, they just have a different form now due to the anime climate being so drastically different than what it once was. I would say that modern elitists though are fine, people who pretend to like anime are annoying as heck, and if you dislike those kinds of people you're immediately labeled as "elitist" by some. In the past elitists were mean about having "superior" tastes, now they just want people to actually respect the medium, and I honestly see no issue with this myself. |

@lezbuns The Game industry is more well respected than anime currently, both critically and commercially. Anime doesn't have any professional critics in its circles so its the wild west as far as medium goes.
