As Maw finishes one last slip of his wine, he looks up to the skies. They were bright, very beautiful indeed. He was waiting for his partner for this mission, witchhunting is something he haven't done for so long. He loaths the idea of hurting woman, but then there aren't much missions avaiable for now, he will have to stick with it. |

Mir couldn't careless what mission he took. As long as he had a job that was enough to feed him, he would take on any sort of job. He walked towards the meeting place. Apparently, the mercenary guild didn't allow taking quests alone. He glanced at the mission scroll again. Miss Anne Barrier, huh? Wondering if he could win this 'witch' with his charm, Mir crumpled the mission scroll and threw it at the small bin he passed by. Further ahead, he saw a familiar face. Familiar but his name he didn't know. |

Stretching out his arms and back which were tired from waitng around for somebody, come to think of it, he seems to forget to check who is doing this mission with him, which means he has no idea who will be joining him. Cold sweats gathered and he was keeping his fingers crossed that he/she would know who he was. |

Mir stood beside the person, though with a bit of distance between them. He crossed his arms and glanced sideways. The person seemed to be panicking a bit over something, which he found was quite amusing. "Witchhunt?" he asked under his breath. |

"Sorry? What do you want to haunt?" was the first thing he thought and that was exactly what he said to the guy who was standing nearby. "Crap, what was I thinking?" he blushed. "If you excused me," he mumbled before escaping down the streets. |

Mir followed behind the man as he walked away. If he wasn't his accomplice, then who was? He knew no one in this village except for this guy familiar face. He might have seen this guy from the headquarters a few times. He grabbed him over his shoulder to try and stop him "Hey, mister", he said tilting his head a little to the side with a smirk on his face. "I think we have business we need to do." |

Maw was stopped by this guy as he attempted to escape lands in the failure zone. His face brightens when he mentioned the word business, could this guy be the one he was waiting for? He looked at Mir's face, he seems young, was he even of legal age to do mission, or maybe he just wants to sell him something. "Depends on what business you are talking about," he smiled |

Mir smirked. He had a fun thought but decided against it. That idea would be dangerous if this guy actually had a hidden talent. That much he knew about the members of the mercenary guild. They shouldn't be underestimated. "Here for Miss Anne Barrier?" he said, moving his hand back in his pocket. |

"Yes, Miss Barrier has been waiting for our arrival, she is very much needed to be escort by us. " he replied, figuring that he should understand. Maw observes him, he doesn't look much older than he is, his best bet was that they are of similar age, plus minus one or two years at most. He doesn't look strong, but never judge a book by its cover, he was constantly reminded of this. Playing with his hair he introduced himself, "I'm Maw Stallion, you are?" |

It seemed Mir to have guessed right. This guy's response had confirmed that he was a member of The Scarlets. As common courtesy, as what he was taught, when someone introduces himself to you, extend you hand for a shake and tell them your name. "Mir Ivanov", he grinned. |

Supplies? Mir hardly needed something to eat or drink. He could go on for days without food or water. But he was told that he had to fed himself every once in a while, for a reason he was never told. As for what he brought, his bag was filled with clothes. Mir nodded in response to Maw's question. That would at least reassure his partner that he was ready. |

Mir took a quick glance on the map he just received. Although he reckon that asking the villagers would've been a better idea, his companion doesn't seem to be comfortable with that choice. He clearly remembered that the witch's location was deep with the forest. In the map, the forest was located at one side of the town. "I think we should go this way", he said pointing towards the direction of the forest. Mir walked ahead without waiting for his partner to respond. He expected that he would be following closely behind. |

Maw was fine with been staying at the back, but if the whole mission is going to be carried out in this manner, he will die of boredom. He has to find a way to keep himself entertained, but what could he do about it? He can't help but wonders. |

"Still there?" Mir asked, checking if the guy was still following behind. A few minutes had passed since they started to enter the forest. Mir couldn't care less whether he had a partner or not, he was sure he'd be able to accomplish his task even if he was alone. As they went deeper, the forest grew darker and thicker. |

"Yes of course I am", Maw was bored out of his tears. This guy who calls himself Mir was such a serious guy; the type Maw can't handle. He needs to talk to someone, anyone before he goes crazy. Hey look, that flower looks interesting, and isn't that tree just pretty? Unable to find his usual entertainment from his partner, he turns his attention to his surrounding, the deeper they went, the darker the forest is. It's like sunlight was avoiding it, he can see perfectly in the dark of course, something he would rather do without. In a distance, Maw hears a wolf howl. |

Was Mir actually relieved that his partner was still following closely behind? He doubted it. If Maw had lost himself in this forest, he wasn't responsible for it. He did tell the guy to just stay and watch where he was going. Moving farther and deeper into the forest, a howl was heard. Mir would have stopped his tracks but he wanted this job done and over with. No time to get distracted. |

Mir wasn't reacting as much as he intended too, "Gee, that's not fun at all,"he muttered under his breath. Maw was still following behind him of course, but perhaps because of his clothing and his unintentional hiding in the darkenss, he couldn't catch a clear sight of him. |

Maw wasn't paying much attention since he is pretty much at home in the darkeness, but he didn't expect his partner to stop trekking out of the sudden which results in him banging onto his back. Mir laughed as his partner bumped at him, though he was thrown forward a little. His little prank actually worked. It was just a small distraction for the moment. He went back to walking. Actually, Mir knew a little about witches. They performed some peculiar rights and something about contracts with the devil. But all these knowledge were from books and not from actual experiences. By this time, he knew that not all books were factual. "Hey, mister", he called he partner, without ever turning his head. "D'ya think this Miss Barrier's a witch?" |

As the two continue arguing, the ground around them seems to shake and bubble slightly. These bubbles begin to rise in height, sprouting first arms, then faces and legs. They form numerous monstrosities, seemingly made entirely of earth. They howl, charging and attacking the two. |

"You know we aren't suppose.."Maw's words tailed off as he saw what seems to be beings that were made out of earth, they were human-size but the resemblance stops there. "Isn't it a little too early to start exercising?" he whinned, and then whispered to his fellow partner "How about we make a dash for it? I don't really wish to fight them," he points. |

Maw was trying to say something when he was stopped mid-sentence. Mir exactly knew why. The ground started to shake slightly and bubbles started forming. These bubbles started to grow limbs and probably what resembles a face. If the rumors about Miss Anne Barrier being a witch were true, these must be hers. Mir's partner whined, and suggested that they should make a run for it. He spared a few seconds to think. Was it really wise to escape? "I don't think we'd get anywhere near this missy's house without beating up these guys." |

Fighting was the last thing he ever had in mind right now, the timing wouldn't be worst and he hates fighting in the forest, in fact he had a thousand and one reasons why they shouldn't fight right now. Maw groans as he realised that what Mir said held some truth, "Fighting or running? Decide" Maw always become lazy when he knows he can't avoid a fight, and sometimes people don't understand what he was trying to imply. |

Mir had a reason why he thinks it is strategical to fight these golems now and also had a reason why he shouldn't. As he had stated earlier, these monstrous beings would be following them wherever they would go, so it would be wise to defeat them now than later. The problem was, however, that the enemy certainly had a handicap. "Fighting or running? Decide" his partner asked. Mir can tell that Maw didn't want to fight. This was a troublesome battle, he thought so too. "Well, I still think that fighting them off is a better idea." |

Mir decided he go all out. The faster he gets to finish off this little group of monsters, the better. He wanted this job done and over with right away. But he knew, his knives were of no use against this things. Looking around for anything he could use, Mir picked up a fallen branch on the ground. He broke off the unnecessary parts, making it look like a short sword. This looks good enough, he thought as he examined the sword like-branch. Mir had already drawn a small transmutation circle on the palm of his hand earlier. He had prepared this from such cases that he'd be forced to fight. With this, the branch he was holding was slowly being turned to steel, a weapon he was going to use. |

Initially Maw thought that the battle would be an easy win for him, afterall take a look at them, they look so harmless and in fact a little cute too. Oh never mind him since he had a twisted sense of what cuteness is as a necromancer. But any way back to the battle, drawing his sword out he went to attack the first creature that he noticed, when it reacted he blocked it with his arm, he smiled and calmly tell him that something like that wouldn't work but panic when he saw the stain that was left on his clothes. |

Mir had thought of going defensive because doing otherwise seemed to be a waste of energy. But since these beings were just animated soil or whatever, he decided that it would be a better choice to act now. His partner seemed to think so, too, as he saw him drew his sword to attack. With his branch sword, he followed suit. Mir dashed to the nearest monster, and slashed it. Luckily, it seemed effective as it chucked of a piece from the soil creature. If I keep this up, we'll be done fast, he thought to himself. He was busy fending for himself that he failed to notice his partner having difficulty. |

Maw's eyes widen and filled with rage, with that emotion, he swiftly slashes the one who dirtied his sleeves. He don't consider himself to be a freak when it comes to cleaniness but he doesn't like it when his clothes are dirtied. The other being who was standing behind him ready to hit him with a sneaky attack but before it did, Maw shreds it in the blink of an eye. Skillfully, Mir had dodged a few attacks thrown by his opponents. His tactic was simply running at a distance that is enough to keep him a few meters away and slashing the first monster that would reach him. This process was repeated several times just to avoid being damaged himself. It was quite effective but it took too much time. He wasn't happy with this at all. In the corner of his eye, Mir saw his partner waving at him, complaining about his dirtied sleeve. Maw's behavior had distracted him causing Mir to get hit with one of the monsters rock-throwing attacks. He managed to shield himself, but it didn't erase the fact that he got damaged. Pissed, he would have thrown the same rocks at his partner but it wouldn't be a good idea. Instead, he improvised by turning the pieces of rocks to steel and threw it back towards the monsters. Not bad, he commented. |

Mir almost got hit despite dodging but luckily, his partner was there to block the attack. Mir was grateful that he was saved, not that he thought he'd be dead by an attack such as that. Maw told him to be careful of his surroundings, though that should only be natural when in a fight. His partner suggested that they should fight together, however, Mir knew that it could only work perfectly if they had knowledge of each others' capabilities. "And how do you suppose we do that?" he asked, as he went and dashed for another monster. |

"Opps I haven't thought about that," he smiled weakly at Mir which he was pretty sure that Mir would glared at him for a response. Actually he was thinking that since it would take forever to completely destroyed every single one of them, perhaps it would be alright to run off for now. By spending more time here, they are actually wasting their precious energy away which would be a bad thing if the target is a real witch. "How about we run off for now?" Maw asked carefully, ready to run away from him in the event that he flare up. |

Mir would have sent a glare to his partner but he had an experience with being distracted earlier so he'd rather not. He focused on slashing his enemy until it fell back to where it belongs, the ground. Mir had thought of doing the same thing as he suggested. He wondered how long this fight against this ground-soil-mud-whatever-they-were-made-of monsters would take. Concluding that it would take forever to get this done, he agreed to his partner's idea. Maw laughs, doesn't seems right at that timing but he just can't help it, the expression Mir made was too funny to ignored. Nodding, he moved swiftly between the trees, making sharp turns every now and then. After 30 minutes of running around in the forest, he stopped and looked back to see if they were still been followed. Happy to shake them off, he smiled but realised something- they were hopelessly lost in the middle of the forest. He knew he shouldn't lead with his sense of direction that bad, now he will have to count on his partner to see if he can shine some hope onto his path. |

Mir wondered why his partner had laughed when there wasn't anything funny in what he had said or done, as much as he knew. He shrugged it off as simply Maw slightly losing his sanity for a moment. Plus, he was too preoccupied with killing off as much of these monsters to be bothered by the other guy's amusement. As soon as he was away from any of the mud creatures, Mir glanced at his partner, who nodded, signalling the timing of their escape. Without waiting for him, Maw made a dash for it. Without any other thought in mind, he followed closely behind. It would be too troublesome if he would lose sight of the guy and would have to answer for his disappearance. Plus, this was supposed to be job for two. Maybe, he'd need his help on this, though he did have doubts on that himself. After minutes of running around, making right turns and left turns as often as Maw did, his partner had finally stopped and turned to look around. Mir acknowledged that his partner had quite a skill in escaping. It seemed that the guy didn't need to catch his breath. Maybe, he's used to doing this, he concluded. At that moment though, he held onto his knees, breathing heavily. He had never done such intense... exercise. Mir glanced up at Maw, who seemed delighted that they had lost sight of the rock-men monsters. He watched closely as his partner had a change in his facial expressions. From a smile on his face, it seemed to have turned to panic. He didn't quite understand why but simply didn't feel the need to ask. The guy should eventually tell him what was wrong, seeing as how he didn't inquire. Mir stood back up, as soon as he regained his normal breathing rate, and crossed his arms over his chest. He was waiting for his partner to speak up of his worries. |

Taking out his map, Maw turned the map up, down, left, right but still the map understands him but not the other way round. His eyes scanning the grids, trying to pin point where exactly they were, he can feel his headache rising, giving up, he walked towards Mir who was still recovering from their escape earlier on and asked, "Ermmm, you do happen to know where we are right now right? I've absolutely no idea where we are on this map" While waiting for a response, he finally spared some attention to his dirtied clothes, "Yucks, these are so dirty, I'd better wash them," with this in mind, he closed his eyes, expanding his energy seeking for a nearby water source. Luckily for him, he managed to discover a lake that was of half a kilometer away from them. He decided to pay a visit later on to do a little wash up. |

Mir watched as his partner played around with the map, turning the map into different angles, staring at it intently, pointing on locations and still had that confused look in his face. Mir would've laughed but he lifted his hand to his mouth to cover his smile. He was amused at how his companion was acting. After a long time of glancing at the map, Maw walked over to his direction and started to talk. "Ermmm, you do happen to know where we are right now right? I've absolutely no idea where we are on this map" suddenly followed by "Yucks, these are so dirty, I'd better wash them." Mir looked at the map then glanced at his companion who complained about his dirtied clothes. As he had noticed, cleanliness is important to Mao, unlike him. He looked at his own set of clothes which were twice as dirty as his partner's clothes was. Outward neatness didn't so much matter to him. Nothing actually mattered much to him anyways. As Maw closed his eyes, Mir observed and wondered what his partner was doing. Was he sleeping while standing? he amused himself. He didn't dare disturb his sleeping companion and looked back at the map. After a few seconds, he gave up in trying to locate where they were. He handed the map back to his partner. "Why don't you lead?" Mir suggested, grinning like the Cheshire cat. "Maybe we'd find this Miss Barrier's home by luck." |

Maw and Mir are two person whose personalities were worlds apart. The only thing that was similar between them appears to be that both of their names started with the letter "M", even that Maw believed that that was purely by chance. His partner appears to be amused by his actions, which he wondered why? He wasn't doing anything particularly funny in the first place, which really puzzling for him. But anyway this time, luck doesn't seems to be on his side either. Mir doesn't looked like someone with a good sense of directions since he was asking him to lead, he doesn't mind but he could lead the both of them on a wild gose chase, and he don't share the idea that they might find Miss Barrier's home by luck. If there was luck in the first place, they'd ran out of it. "Would it be alright if we were to drop by a lake? It's pretty close by, I can't stand these been dirty, and you looks like you would do good with some cleaning." He asked, ready to bang his head against the nearest tree if his partner would insist them to continue their journey. |

Mir pretended to think for a moment at his partner's suggestion to visit a lake. He didn't really care if it took them long to finish the job as long as it will be done. He just raised his shoulders, giving his partner a vague answer. Whether he'd take it as a 'yes' or 'no' would be entirely up to him. Mir scanned the map again when his partner didn't take it away from him. He tried to locate their position from the clue his partner gave, this lake he was talking about. From left to right, he did a quick scan. Hmmm... trees, trees, trees... no lake! He looked up at his companion, unsure of the suggestion. "Are you sure there's a lake?" |

Maw shifted his attention to his surroundings as he waited for his partner's response. This place seems harmless enough, but a little quite though, too quiet. It appeared that the noises a typical forest had seems to have vanished. Looking at his partner whose eyes darted within the map, after a while he questioned if his suggestion was a good one. Winking he replied, "What harm would that do, we are already hopelessly lost anyway," |
