Synopsis The story begins with Nick, an experienced adventurer whose party is led by his mentor and father-figure Argus. Following the completion of their latest job, Nick discovers a chunk of the money has gone missing and realizes one of the party members is the culprit. To his surprise, Argus forgives the member and instead expels Nick after being accused of also embezzling funds. One night after several weeks in a downward spiral, Nick ends up in a local tavern where fate leads him to meeting three fellow adventurers. After a night of drinking, the four bond over their own betrayals and their destroyed ability to trust anyone. This is when Nick hatches on the idea for the four to form a party. Thus the story begins with a party of adventurers united in their belief that humans are bastards and desire to make some honest coin... First episode now available on Crunchyroll: LINK Episode 1 I sure wasn't expecting that idol segment seeing that from what I'm reading, it's not an isekai. So basically, this episode introduces the leads and how they have been betrayed by others, and they end up meeting in order to form a party. It's an interesting concept to say the least, but given the production values and stuff, I'm not so sure about the show's prospects. While it was a solid enough episode there, there are more than 50 shows I counted this season (a regular season these days have around 40) and I won't have room for all the shows I have interest in. |

Ahhh I remember reading the first volume of the manga of this show, it's actually pretty funny. Character designs will take time to get used to, I kinda wished they made it as close to the manga character design. |

Crunchy started spinning its wheels during the OP. Going to be one of them days it seems like. EDIT: Finally got to watch it. It seems to be a "beer and pretzels" type show to sit back and relax and enjoy without getting deeply invested in. |

Thank God, the season is starting up. The dearth of anime between seasons is always brutal. Especially over the holidays. >.> Solid start and not any glaring cliches. That OP song though, woof. So generic. |

The whole "betrayed by everyone but save everyone" style has been somewhat common over the years, but I'll give it a whirl since it is fertile ground for interesting stories. Just so long as it doesn't turn into yet another harem, I've had my fill of those for a while now. |

As far as I can tell from the first episode, it looks like a horribly generic but enjoyable show. It may also be a very forgettable show, but I'll stick with it. |

That was much better than I was expecting it to be. When they started out with the cliche adventurer setting I wasn't expecting much, but the characters in this seem interesting so far. |

Has some potential, but I'll keep my expectations low. The cleric's story was pretty straightforward--though it's a stretch they'd believe an accusation like that so readily--but I'd like to see some more background on the other three. |

Decent, but I only see two experienced seiyuu attached (one character not introduced yet). Quality seems good. I think I'd have preferred an in-media-res of them already together instead of chronological backstories to get a better idea of this show. |

My thoughts exactly. In fact the whole intro section almost lost me, but when the character introductions got started, I found an interest in them. -Let's see if it gets much traction after the rest of the characters & world gets filled in, that might be tough with everything it will be competing against this season. |

Well this show's teaching me new words at least. First the main guy self identifies as a doru-ota for aidoru otaku (idol otaku), and now Menchi coming in with sanpaku-gan (white visible above, below and to the side of the iris). |

I finally got around to watching the first episode and it was pretty good. The premise reminds me of Banished from a hero's party but instead of getting with a blond princess. The main character forms a party with three other people who lost all trust in people. They had some bad experiences, but the cleric had the worst one as he was blame for something he didn't do. I just would have like to know what the last one went through? instead seems like something was stolen? Well in the end the party to defeat the demon king was formed and this could be a hidden gem. |

What is so confusing about the show is that one minute he is in modern day Japan going to an idol show and the next he is in some other fantasy world with no modern technology. |

Episode 2 And thus, the party called Survivors is formed. This foursome wants to believe in each other unlike with humanity, but their teamwork absolutely sucks. Case in point, Tiana and Curran aren't getting along, and even more so when Tiana acts before she thinks resulting in the party getting drenched in slime. And then with that ogre, Curran ends up beating it by herself. This ragtag bunch are quickly finding out just how tough being adventurers really is. |

that "sticky Labyrinth" that they were in looked kind of like an overgrown office building... The ED seems to indicate a silver haired loli or shota will join them. Not sure if the blue-haired idol is supposed to join too, or she's just part of the oddly modernistic ED they decided to give this...kind of like Eminence in Shadow has an OP with the seven shades in modern day Japan |

The second episode was also good. First, we have the four name their party which is survivors and then go explore a dungeon. Since the party has just been formed there are going to be problems and that is trust. After almost hitting Curran with a magic attack Tiana has lost the trust of Curran and in order to rebuild that trust Nick tells everyone about his equipment, attacks, etc. This is huge because anyone can just exploit his weakness. However, doing this everyone does the same. This really helps out when they fight a pack of goblins and hobgoblin as they come up with a strategy to wipe them out. Not bad but the only problems was the battle scene as the animation wasn't the best. Geek Toys has a couple titles under their belt, so I'm actually expecting better than this. |

Episode 3 While Nick and Tiana had their backstories explained already, Curran hasn't. This Dragonian girl used to have a great relationship with Calios seeing that he saved her from that merchant that attempted to scam her by making her buy a damaged pendant he secretly swapped out proving that she couldn't make a scratch that small. But then Calios would go onto betray her, and Curran decided to become a solo adventurer after meeting Fifs, who is quite famous around town. And that led her to the guild where she ended up joining the Survivors party. Pretty interesting backstory that was as Curran found a new purpose in life after everything that happened, and after seeing all that, it's clear that this is where she belongs. |

That was a pretty long con by that Calios guy...not sure he had to build so much trust with her, it seemed like she trusted him enough to go after that snake thing much earlier than they did. |

Were they just totting her around for months hoping to find a monster powerful enough to kill her but leave them alive so they could steal her jewel? |
Jan 17, 2023 6:26 PM

Seems like they could have stolen the jewel easily without anything like this. And the fact they just left her alive is an incredible waste. The only reason to use a paralysis trap is to kill someone you have no chance of killing otherwise. But all this just to get back to the inn before her and steal something? It's weird because they singled out her backstory from the others, giving it more time and they made it make even less sense than any of the others... |

We don't really know how long she was with that group. Look how quickly she became enamored with the other guy she ran into right after that. I could buy that she might have been with them for only a few days and was already all gaga over blondie and became sure he was the hero. If she had been with them for a while I don't think there would have been the need to reassure her so much about charging in at that snake. It also would make sense that those guys have done this kind of thing before and knew of various different types of monsters/areas that they could lure someone into depending on the skillset of the mark. And they didn't just take her stuff, they got whatever treasure the snake may have had and it's uh, parts, to sell. The most surprising thing to me is how fast they got out of that town. If they really thought she was dead there was no reason for them to take off that quickly. Anyway, now it makes sense why she instantly became suspicious of the mage in the last episode. |

They got old anime thinking, if they don't leave her alive the series dies. Basically they needed someone as strong as her to kill the snake. They did not think she would live but she did and now you know why she can't trust others. |

And any experienced con man could probably see she was an easy mark pretty quickly. If she followed blondie around like she did with that other guy he would have seen she was an easy mark after just a day or two. She's not very smart, she's not a good judge of character, and before getting betrayed, she was very naïve.zkeleton said: I could buy that she might have been with them for only a few days. Episode 4 Into the labyrinth they go, and that dungeon just looks out-of-place in a world like this seeing that this place is more like an exhibition hall in Japan than it does a dungeon in a fantasy world. The four fight a giant liquid metal slime monster, and it's quite difficult to land a hit, and not even freezing it will do much damage. It was tough, but in the end Nick and Curran fused and their combined form defeated that monster. As it turns out, the legendary blade was just a replica but they still got paid, and even the new member Kizuna got some of it. As it turns out, Kizuna is a lot older than she looks as she claims to be centuries old, but that's something for another day. Team chemistry still needs work, but they are starting to come together as a team. |

Episode 5 Now with Kizuna now part of the party and in need of some money that it's off to their next quest. So Kizuna can make clones of himself, but it comes at the expense of the party's stamina, which just doesn't sit well with the party members given the way he has been using telepathy. And after that, Nick ends up bumping into Claudine, a member of the Iron Tigers who are notorious for scamming adventurers out of their money, and Nick decides to settle their grudge. He and Leon goes into the back alley, and after all that, it comes down to what Leon calls a Mathematical Bare Knuckle fight. There has been quite a lot of bad blood going on, and the Iron Tigers certainly need to be taught a lesson. |
