On god tho, Rengoku one of the best characters in shounen?

Demon Slayer movie got me thinking.

I know the movie isn't exactly deep and all but I loved Rengoku's moments here and he comes across as this staple for what makes typical leader/teacher shounen characters so loved. With all his flashiness and dedication to keep going forward. Striving to achieve the very thing he trained his throughout life for. I couldn't ask for more.

But do you agree with me? Maybe you don't like him at all. Just say whatever, lemme hear.

He’s literally just a stereotypical shounen role model. There are about 5 other characters very similar that I can think of off the top of my head.

Yeah definitely one of the best.....some might find his over enthusiasm annoying but it just makes him more fun to watch.....I'm a guy but he is my only husbando

He’s a sterotypical model. Gets 3 episodes worth of show time to teach some new idea to the characters and then wrote off in a tragic way to make him liked

He came, he acted cringy, introduced himself with some cringy dialogue, had 1 admittedly cool fight and then he was thrown out of the window, while giving some standard speech to the MC.

Yeah...I mean, you could agree or disagree on whether or not ufotable is the only reason DS is popular, but in this case, there's really no mistake that him being the mentor character in the movie is what got him where he is.

Rengoku is a sidekick ... yes one of the good sidekick characters not the best cuz less screentime and character depth

I would never considere any of DS characters one fo the best in shounen, since I don't really find them special nor unique (apart from their desgins).

Definitely left a lasting impact in a fraction of the time it takes your average shounen character. Even better after EP 1 of the Train Arc TV version 🔥🔥🔥

This has got to be a troll, rengoku is one of the worst characters in shounen, me and my friends literally laughed when we watched him die! He was one of the worst role models to EVER exist. He is just a trash character from a trash series. That is it.

Rengoku would be right at home in a late 80s/early 90s shonen series. We don't have as many of those hot-blooded characters these days.

That's such a big stretch. Especially considering he has to compete with Thorfin, Askeladd (Vinland Saga used to be a shonen), Yoshikage Kira, Light Yagami, Erwin Smith, etc. Also I hear Muerem from HXH is really cool, but I've never watched HxH.

nah fam he's alright at best, I mean we literally only had him there for about 3 eps or the movie depending on which you watched but in my case I watched the movie and I still didn't get attached to him to the point where I'd care for his death

There is a reason he’s so unbelievably popular despite not even appearing for that long a time. He’s a simple but amazingly well executed character. Demon slayer know has such a wide cast of characters and personalities and Rengoku perfectly feels the role of the dependable and strong guy everyone relies on both physically and emotionally.

Nah, Rengoku has like barely any personality except to be strong and win. He is stereotypical. I don’t think he’s bad just he is definitely not close to one of the best
