Oh good, I was really worried they were going to make Kan Moi's rival for Nico. Glad he's more just like a gay friend. Episode was nice but so serious for a Romcom. |

If Nico has any love rivals, it's most of the other girls in her class. Morihito couldn't care less about them, but Nico doesn't see it that way. |

More on the Romance side for the latest episode which establishes that both Nico and Moi has a mutual special feeling for each other, with Moi being a bit unclear with his. That 'Under the tree' moment was quite lovely. And the 'Wind Blow' gag was quite funny too; Nico slayed! xD It did feel quite early for Nico and Moi's romance establishment but, I guess they really don't want to go and make another season of this. And yeah, it's great that Kan wasn't a love rival to Moi-- I just don't feel like it's gonna be entertaining that way, probably more irritating if anything else. Just hope the other character from the credits won't be a rival as well; I' rather a love rival be from outside the MCs' circle. |

Episode 7 Kanshi and Nico try their hands at making YouTube videos, and Morihito has to give them advice, along with the gloomy Keigo. Even though they do make a few successful videos, Kanshi and Nico eventually get bored. Then the proper yet clumsy Suzuka asks Nico for help in pleasing her grandmother Setsuko on the tea ceremony. Nico casts a spell that makes Suzuka copy any movements Morihito makes, so now Morihito has to master the tea ceremony quickly. Setsuko shows up ahead of schedule and there's no time to rehearse, so things start to go off the rails, but they manage to salvage things when a hornet frightens Setsuko. |

Fun when they involve other classmates but the beginning bit about posting youtube videos with zero magic or anything was pretty lame. Isn't that the whole point of the show, their powers causing problems? Might as well just be a regular romcom. |

The youtube part of the episode was so-so. The second part was amazing though. The whole tea ceremony was hilarious. The conversation about The Who and mods vs. rockers in the previous ep was pretty funny too. Kan hasn't turned out to be as annoying as I was afraid he would. I miss the transforming witch girl. |

Another fun episode! And they finally introduced the 4th member of the main group (5 if cat girl will be hanging out with them often as well). The Tea Ceremony sketch was definitely the better one; I loved the bit with the tea smudge and the "Yes, grandmother." bit-- that's classic comedy right there. For the "Kan and Nico's Channel", the main punchline was a bit easy; They could've done a bit more of Sargeant Punch jokes. But I did like the bit of Keigo being a 'humble brag' in a "loser" way, and the grasshopper part where Nico and Kan does a double act comedy routine. And I did get a chuckle when Moi yelled "For the love of god, EDIT!!!" xD |

Episode 8 Kanshi takes a part-time job at an amusement park's hero show, and while he was supposed to play one of the villain's grunts, he's soon thrust into the hero role. But then he learns the actor who previously played the hero is playing the villain because he sprained his ankle, and his son will be in the audience. So the two decide to swap roles and ad-lib their performance. Unfortunately, the show's director does not take kindly to the ad-libbing, and neither Kanshi nor the actor get paid. Then Kanshi takes a job packing screws into bags, but it quickly becomes tedious, so he asks Nico to cast a spell on him that will speed him up. Because of the spell's maximum effects, Kanshi is stuck in super-fast-forward mode for three days, and from his perspective, everyone around him is moving super slow for a whole month. Kanshi manages to practice speaking really slow so Morihito and Nico can understand him normally while the spell is active, but it takes a while for him to get back to normal speed once it wears off. |

Ugh a whole episode of Kan, I wish I could have sped through it at 10X speed. The only funny part was Otto-man's name pun though that was way too much of a set up for such a lame joke. |

It was mostly just silly gags this time, focusing on Kan. It was alright, but the punchlines were definitely obvious for both Sketches. The last one was at least on-brand involving some spell from Nico. But the first one is just a generic 'kind side-character' build for Kan, which I don't feel was necessary. Lowest point of the show so far, but it had some funny stuff at least. |

Episode 9 Kara's father shredded a letter to her from her late mother, so she asks Nico to restore it. She has an idea about what is written in the letter, as she believes she is not related to her father by blood, but in a twist, the letter mentions it's her mother who is not blood-related. Then the group helps a boy who talks like a middle-school textbook muster up some nerve to talk to a girl he likes, and it turns out the girl talks like a middle-school textbook too. The boy gives Morihito two movie tickets, and Morihito casually asks Nico on a date. Nico later realizes it's tough reading how Morihito feels at any given moment, so after asking for permission, she casts a spell on him to make his expressions easier to understand. The spell basically puts a miniature version of Morihito on top of his head, and that's the one that is really expressive. Nico ends up more focused on Morihito during the movie. |

I found the textbook one pretty funny. New Horizon and New Crown are two old school manga-style textbooks to teach English. The character designs of both characters were similar to them and their names sounded like the titles. The kind of unnatural, simple sentences used ended up like a lot of the Japanese learning textbooks I've read (going English to Japanese is apparently similar to going Japanese to English). This is from New Crown. The situation is it's the last day of middle school, and Emma will be returning to Australia now that she's graduated. |

Thanks marklebid ^^^^^^^ I figured as much. Like all these stories they're nice, and cute and amusing but isn't there supposed to be some actual plot taking place? Are they saving it for the end? And for how prominent cat girl is in the OP and ED why is she never in the show? Was that her at the school where the girl the kid who talked funny liked went? At least she was in the next ep preview. |

It's a simple, usual, and straightforward episode this week. It's lovely and funny and all but, these past few episodes have been missing the unique impact that I appreciated from the first few episodes. At least they finally touched on Nico's goal to be a helpful witch again. They made the effort of giving each of the MCs' classmates some comical gimmicks but, I don't think they exposed them enough yet. I'm assuming there will be an enemy encounter near the end of the 1st Cour, and that will be cat girl's first total involvement with the MCs as she likely assists them. |

Episode 10 Nico's magical gestures of goodwill have come to the attention of the student council, who are a bunch of tropey characters. And the student council president, Suzuka's brother Tenryu, will stop at nothing to try and recruit Morihito. Then Nemu the shapeshifting witch returns to Morihito's house and ends up getting a bath. Again, her transformation dispels when she falls asleep, and she tiptoes away while everyone is laughing at a comedy sketch on TV. But Nemu feels a sense of foreboding when she runs into a forest, and she comes upon a small shack where a warlock is planning to make a move on Nico. Will Nemu muster up the courage to warn Nico? Next time, Nico's mother's prophecy about dogs and raindrops is about to come to a head. |

They all seemed like a mishmash of tropes, can't say I've ever seen an older sister character like the VP she was more of a gyaru, and who else throws roses like that except Tuxedo Kamen? Oh well at least they were amusing. And wth was with the neko girl scene, that was straight out of a hentai? They really downplayed the fact that he washed her entire body by just having her imagine it was only like getting her hair washed. o_0; Well at least she started up the main plot by finding the warlock after Nico. |

Episode 11 Nemu approaches Nico and Morihito as a human and warns them about the warlock. Meanwhile, Kanshi saves Keigo from being bullied and learns about a guy named Wolf working with the warlock to pass around magically enchanted candy to students in order to form a small army to go after Nico. Kanshi then ends up fighting Wolf and getting beat up all over. The next day, Morihito and Nico go around school trying to get intel on Wolf, while Nemu searches for the warlock's hideout. She does find the hideout, inside a pocket space, but she gets caught and put to sleep. That night, Keigo tells the group that the warlock's army have assembled at a park, and they all go to face them. But Morihito falls into a pocket space when he steps on a manhole cover, and Keigo goes after him. Actually, Keigo set this all up, as he's working with the warlock! Keigo reveals that he is a werewolf, and in fact, Wolf is actually his alter ego when he looks at anything resembling a moon. |

Episode 12 Nico and Kanshi use some spells to get close to and capture the warlock. It turns out she's a tiny person who was hiding inside another guy's afro. But she's actually collaborating with someone else to capture Nico. Meanwhile, after Morihito allows Keigo to get a few punches in, he proves to be more evenly matched. He launches a flurry of punches to control Keigo's movements, and he reopens a cut that Kanshi gave him. With Keigo's left eye blinded, Morihito moves in to defeat him. The warlock tries to tell Nico about her collaborator, but her magic gets taken and her body disintegrates. After recovering from the events of the night, Keigo brings his friends over to his apartment, where he uses a special medicine from Nico to restore his mother's legs. Then Keigo moves in to Morihito's house. |

The actual climax is very underwhelming, to be honest. Not surprising though since that's also one of Sket Dance' biggest weaknesses. I don't mind the comical conclusion to the Evil Witch but, kinda wish that, and the battle with Wolf, had its own episodes. I know it's just the first mini boss of the story but, it would've helped build excitement for what I presume will be the first big arc by the end of this season. But overall, it's had its on-brand wholesome and heart-warming conclusion to the situation so, I think that's good enough. And, at least, we can now go back to the gags and sketches. |

Glad I skipped last week and watched these back to back. Didn't see that coming with the wolf kid, though kinda dumb he has moved in too. Might as well throw the cat girl in while they're at it 9_9 Still failing to see how sending Nico to school has done anything but make her less safe, and exposed her and those around her to even more danger. Instead of the adults giving them vague warnings of when danger is coming wouldn't it be better for them, as skilled magic users, to protect her? That being said after a strong start this show has been pretty hit or miss for me, to the point where I skip it now. Too bad, hopefully things pick up next cour. |

Episode 13 The group tries to remove any crescent-shaped objects in the house to minimize the chances of Keigo turning into Wolf, but he changes upon seeing a croissant, and he starts flirting with girls in town. Fortunately, Wolf is willing to acquiesce to Morihito, and he changes back without further incident. Then Nemu shows up again, and Keigo transforms upon seeing a crescent on TV. Wolf is the only one of the group who knows that Nemu can turn into a cat, and after everyone else leaves the house, he and Nemu make an uneasy arrangement in order for him to keep her secret. Finally, Nico isn't the best cook, so she tries using a magic powder that she thinks will make her dish taste better. Morihito takes his serving before she can sprinkle the powder on it, so he is unaffected. However, the powder makes whoever ingests it fall in love with the object it's sprinkled on. Then things get really crazy when Nico tries to get the powder from Morihito, and it falls on her head. Nico and Morihito take to the sky, and the powder falls all over town, making everyone infatuated with Nico. To break the spell, Morihito kisses Nico on the cheek. |

Wanted to check out the new OP and ED...meh not as good as the first cour's. Don't think that 1 2 3 dance will catch on. As for the ep, surprise Cat girl and wolf boy will end up together...why doesn't he just stay as the wolf since his other persona is so lame? And oh my a kiss on the cheek in this day and age between teenagers? How was it not censored? 9_9 |

A fairly fun friend circle episode. There was only one spell mishap bit (the cooking sketch) but, the rest was entertaining, nonetheless. I'm noticing that they seem to want this to be a reverse harem with just Nico in the middle of it. Observing the OP credits, Nemu tends to be on a separate scene from everyone else, including the yet to be introduced addition to the Nico circle, who's instead the one who's already a part of the MC picture by the end of the credits. It's looking like she'll mostly be pushed onto filler episodes with Wolf. I would hope that this doesn't turn into an Otome situation for Nico-- it would greatly change the show for me. More comedy please! |

@marklebid I feel like Kento Shinohara did pretty well with any character during his Sket Dance days. I'm not sure how accurate the Witch Watch Anime to the Manga is but, I wonder if having a different writer for the TV adaptation has something to do with it? I wouldn't take it from producers to have pushed for it to be more marketable as well, hence the Romance direction. I've also read that the comedy of the Manga doesn't seem to hit some of the readers- even in the Anime it's mostly tame- so, I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted to stray away from the comedy as much as they can for the Anime. We'll see with how the 2nd cour goes, I guess. |

Episode 14 First up is an in-depth peek into the in-universe series Uron Mirage, where two of its main characters fight against some creepy phantoms. The manga tends to do stuff like this at milestone and anniversary chapters. Then later, Kukumi shows Yuri her first attempt at drawing manga. Yuri has a lot of criticism about it, but she doesn't want to say it out loud, so she suggests that Kukumi upload her draft to social media so she can post her thoughts there. Of course, Kukumi soon figures out Yuri's handle after noticing a picture that she posted of her nails, and Kukumi pitches the idea of the two of them going into making manga together. |

Finally! A good comical episode which involves the "Witch" plot and the MCs. That family was a riot! xD Looks like Miharu would be a great addition to the group to shake up the not-so-existent dynamic. He has somewhat of a 'well-intended rudeness' attitude and keeps blurting out 'elephants in the room'. I'm expecting lots of gags with him. Episode 15 The group brings Nemu along to the countryside to find something that can help fight warlocks, and they meet Miharu, who has quite the tendency to say things that rather shouldn't be said. When a warlock fisherman attacks at the river, Miharu displays his skill at combating magic. Keigo keeps the fisherman from getting away, but the fisherman tries a last-ditch attack, and Miharu gets impaled. It turns out Miharu is a vampire, and he heals his wound by absorbing Morihito's energy. After interrogating the fisherman, Miharu siphons his magic power while Nico revitalizes him, and Miharu cuts the magic, neutralizing it. Then Morihito invites Miharu to join the group. |

Ha ha! I swear this show has some of the best side comments. Almost Konosuba-level. Some laughs, AND some bikini fanservice without getting skeevy! I was hoping Nico would heal the dad back to a more youthful appearance, but I guess it was not to be. However, he does retain the hot wife so not all bad. How big is Moi's house, anyway? TARDIS anyone? And if anime has taught me anything, it's that a heavily-hooded character with an altered voice is almost certainly to prevent the audience from recognizing someone we've already met. Guesses? Maybe the hot mom, riled because she has a withered husband now? |

Episode 16 While Morihito is out shopping, Miharu convinces everyone to try cooking a meal for him, but they're so clumsy at it that they end up causing a grease fire. Then Miharu's parasol gets stolen from Kanshi while he's out walking, so Miharu goes out to find the thief. To keep him shielded from the sunlight, Nico casts a spell that puts a cloud over his head, but he has to stay gloomy or the cloud goes away. Naturally, endearing and funny scenes show up to try and get him to laugh and smile, and when he finds the thief, the cloud goes away as well. Fortunately, Kanshi summons a flock of crows over his head to help Miharu get his parasol back. Finally, while everyone else is out, Nemu shows up to get Keigo to turn into Wolf. They end up watching a movie together and striking up a conversation, and Keigo eventually sees a crescent shape on a cake tray and transforms. Nico and everyone else arrive before Wolf can do anything reckless. |

It turns out Keigo set the whole thing up and Nico was actually his accomplice. Then Tenryu talks to Morihito, Kanshi, Keigo, and Nico. Nico tries a new spell to lengthen a pencil before leaving with Kara and Kukumi, but the spell fails. Once Nico leaves, Tenryu tells the others that the teachers are concerned about them and are suggesting they be closely observed. Just then, Morihito's nails, Kanshi's neck, Keigo's hair, and Tenryu's right arm grow really long; Nico's spell didn't fail so much as miss its target! After making an effort to present themselves as normal as possible, they all head to Morihito's house, and on the way they end up saving a man dangling from a harness off a roof. Episode 18 Nico casts a spell on some paper at Kara's shrine to make paper creatures that move around for a bit. Kara decides to try making a bird, but she ends up creating a shikigami instead, and it follows her around everywhere. Eventually, the shikigami wants to become Kara's hair clip, and while it tries to take it off her it falls into the river. The shikigami dives into the river to retrieve it. Now it's settled for perching on said hair clip. Then Kanshi emulates a salesman and pitches selling a marble to Keigo. Keigo posts a video based on Kanshi's comments, and soon a huge marble craze takes hold as more people post marble videos. But as the craze dies down, Keigo's channel gets flamed, and he has to make an apology video with Nico and Kanshi. Finally, Morihito brings out a few things he made when he was a kid, including his own attempt at making manga. When Morihito mentions he once dreamed of being in the manga's world, Nico decides to cast a spell to try and do just that, but it turns them into crude drawings instead. When one of Morihito's pages gets blown away by the wind, they all go after it, and they end up saving a woman being held at knifepoint by a thief in the process. |
