I'm not looking forward to finishing it.  EDIT: Oh and I called it, the new Monogatari novel is getting an anime adaptation. And it's going to be later this year unless something postpones it. Actually I can't tell what part of the Monogatari series it is. Supposedly it was penned in 2015 and I know last year he wrote another Monogatari novel but I just don't know what this one has to do with the main series other than it features Kiss Shot and some other vampire. |

| EDIT: Crunchyroll is now streaming all the episodes of the original Urusei Yatsura anime. And the series is even available in NZ, but the movies aren't and the OVA's aren't there either. Which means I wasted over $400 on getting the blu rays..... Oh and Corpse Party 2 is getting a PC/PS4/Switch release for the West. HiDive released a buggy mess of a new app on Xbox One and then sends me an email saying the price is going up. And included a message saying "If you pay for a year sub you can keep the old pricing until next year". It's only a dollar right now but honestly I've been watching less and less of HiDive shows and more rewatching shows on CR/My collection. I'm super conflicted whether or not it's worth funneling them money and not using the subscription time except on that random whim when I feel like watching Chivalry of a Failed Knight or some of the older shows. Oh and I fixed the problem I had with my PC's blu-ray apps so I managed to get that Merry Christmas raw I was talking about.   Also working my way through Tenchi Muyo GXP. And it was totally worth the hell I went through getting it. Such a typical Tenchi Muyo show. So far I've only really disliked the Sasami Magical Girl Club remake, Tenchi Universe and Ai Tenchi Muyo. |

I did it and upgraded to next gen. Windows 11 and 4K screen. I'd say it took some time to get used to 11 but that's how it always been with every generation I jump to before it becomes second nature. One of my favorite upgrades is Windows Explorer is finally having tabs instead of windows to make less clutter. Same thing with Notepad. Steam has cancelled support for anything below Windows 10, and thankfully you can turn off Copilot in 10, but I don't think you can for 11. It was bad enough with Cortana but Microsoft wants to stay "competitive" and they think the only way to do that is to integrate AI into all the shit they do. I guess it kinda helps that I did read the light novels with everyone's backstories but they weren't really all that important. |

Gonna leave some stuff in spoilers just in case you intend on reading the LNs someday or the remake actually intends on finishing the story. I don't think Lawrence looks like Lawrence (I'm judging from the image for the episode on CR so I don't know if it is Lawrence or not) It shouldn't have gotten a remake, it was completely unnecessary. This age of remakes we live in is horrid, I don't even think there's been a good remake yet. Urusei Yatsura one is horrifyingly bad, the Trigun remake looks horrible, haven't watched the Higurashi or Rurouni Kenshin ones yet either and the Orphen remake is a crime against anime as a whole. And then there's the upcoming One Piece remake.... I'm finished with the main LNs now, only got the side stories left and even if we were to continue the OG series it wouldn't impact the plot in the slightest. All the important people for the finale were introduced, and if they carried on past the Lenos arc they could have easily finished the series. But the OG anime actually animated the side story with Nora. If it intends on fully animating the story, it's going to be a long haul unless they cut some serious corners.  |

I guess I'll watch it out of obligation but I'm not really looking forward to it. Will be interesting to see if they change the Pasloe scene to feature a man instead of a woman, as that was who Lawrence's friend originally was in the LN. Oh and I take back what I said about the latest Tenchi Muyo stuff. GXP Paradise Starting has a lot of information you don't get unless you read the GXP novels which aren't translated. Like how Seina went to a parallel world, got magic and all the cloned cabbits got humanoid forms and Fuku grew up and like Ryo-ohki fell in love with her owner. |

| I had some odd days. Okay, like odder than usual. So, there was an indie animation series I was intended to see for quite a while called Emara, but always had it at the back of my thoughts. I saw it, and was heartbroken by the fact it ended on a cliffhanger and the people behind it pretty much had to cancel whatever they had planned for season 2 and the studio broke up with everyone in it moved on with their lives because they couldn't afford to get any sponsor to endorse them. And for the past days I wasn't too well. Something almost felt personal to me and it made me really mad to the point that the artist in me that I thought was dead was coming back to life. I never felt like this to any other show or project that I saw or known beforehand it got cancelled prematurely. Usually I get disappointed or give a quick sigh and move on, but as an Emarati I've seen many newcomers and up and coming artists giving their shot in the industry but they couldn't even go past beyond the development stage or get cancelled and fade to obscurity as quickly. For Emarati animation this was the best and was taken seriously by the creative team. Not some cheap on the budget sitcom level production. They wanted to be groundbreaking, evolving the animation realm in the region, heck it even had way big of a following when it premiered and during its runtime. And to see it also failed or even acknowledged by any channel or network felt like the last straw to me. -------------------- Today I wasn't feeling better either. Problem is that stuff like that generally doesn't sell. Very few animators will work on things that won't net them a profit unless they absolutely love their work and don't care about profit. Reminds me of the early days of Crow'sClaw (Music,not animation) One of the rare artists that didn't care about the capital and instead did it purely for love. Shows that didn't get a second season were still backed up by big budget sponsors and had their chance to prove what they have on national television and official streamers and had all the help they could. Indie animation are much more limited in what they can do and back then it'd be a miracle if their pitch pilot could grab the attention of backers. Kemono Friends might be seen as an odd entity since it was made under an official license yet it was made like an Indie Animation for the highly tight budget they had that miraculously ended up saving the brand despite its limitations. In Emara's case after digging through what I was able to find was part networks not wanting to sponsor the project and part the main creator/director biting more than she was able to chew on. Amateur mistakes if you well. She tried to do something big as her first main project but didn't have the full capacity to produce it fully independently on her own yet she was against signing deals with the big networks out of fear of losing the full control over her IP and executives meddling with it, which is a valid reason, but as I said; "Amateur mistakes". Not even some of the more prolific animators went big as their big time job. The ideal position was for her to start with smaller projects building enough skills and budget for her and once she determines she got everything she needs, then she can start her dream project without obstacles. The worst part of all this though was ending the series on a cliffhanger. That's another thing amateur artists can fall into. They can get too confident in their success they don't count the possibility of them failing to meet expectations leaving their cliffhangers unanswered. Another trashy show that I actually gave up watching ages ago around about the same time I watched Cross Ange was Valkyrie Drive Mermaid. It's been ages since I've dropped a show. I told myself that I wouldn't drop anymore shows unless they were completely god-awful. I have 10 dropped shows I should get around to watching at some point, but quite a few of them aren't available on streaming services anymore. At least legitimate ones. That being said, I've watched some pretty depressing shows lately and I'm struggling to avoid rewatching some of my favourite shows because my watch list keeps getting bigger and bigger.  |

Okay... Cross Ange, actually got better with the earlier bullshit out of the way and into the main plot. There are still bullshit around but the plot is carrying the show that it makes me want to keep watching. Also nice way of making who used to be unlikable characters more likable by pitting them against even more unlikable characters, or in this case an entire empire of unlikable bigoted douchbags. Hilda's mom takes the apple pie though as she went ahead and made a new daughter with the same name disowning her first daughter.  060  061 |
