Alexi stands defiantly in front of Cyn. "Look, Cyn, I understand how you feel but--"
"You don't know shit about how I feel!" Cyn yells, interrupting her. "Don't you dare say you do. I'm not going to ask you again. Move."
"Cyn, he's your father. Don't do this."
"He is NOT my father," Cyn says. "You had a father, Alexi. I had scum. I was born into scum and grew up. With. Scum."
"I'm sure that's exactly what Melody would want to hear from you," Alexi crosses her arms. "That you think you're garbage. I thought you were taught better than that!"
"SHUT UP!" Cyn shouts. "You know what I was taught growing up? That the word 'father' is nothing but a lie, a damn lie! That I had to take from other people to survive because scum only look out for themselves. That the world is fucking cruel and disgusting. That there is no such thing as family, there's only people who stab you in the back! There is no such thing as family."
"How dare you." Alexi says, disgusted.
"Me? What about you!?" Cyn grabs her shoulders, pushing her aside. "You always act all high and mighty, but really you're just scared. You've always been scared. You can't really do anything on your own, so rely on everyone around you like the helpless little girl you are!" He starts to walk away from her.
"Then what about you?" Alexi shoots back. "You're unforgiving and cruel. You drink and gamble more often than anyone I know. You've got one hell of a temper. You so similar to the scum you hate, and it scares you."
Cyn whirls around. "Take that back! I'm nothing like him."
"You're more alike than you care to admit," Alexi says, calmly. "But it doesn't matter how alike you are. You're you and he is him."
"This isn't going anywhere," Cyn scoffs. "I'm leaving."
"You're going to regret it! You may not think it now, but you will."
"Go to hell." He walks out of the room and off the ship, leaving Alexi standing on the deck alone. |
