"You would be surprised," she muttered, half to herself. Closing her eyes, she concentrated, first on the hilt of the sword. She pictured a slender hilt bound in black leather, capped off with a small red jewel in the pommel. From there, she envisioned the guard, made of silver. A faint smile came to her face as she worked vine engravings into the metal, for decoration. Those engravings continued onto the base of the blade. The blade itself gleamed brightly, and she put an edge on both sides. It was long and slender, built for someone of her height. When she was certain she had pictured every detail to perfection, she allowed it to begin to take shape. |

Gripping the sword by the hilt, she took a practice swing. The way she handled it made it clear that she knew what she was doing. Giving him a smile, she offered him the sword, hilt-first. "How is it?" |

He inspects the sword all over, making sure there weren't any flaws in the metal or at the base of the sword where the blade met the hilt. He took a few practice swings, noting that it was a little hilt heavy. He summons a model of a human made of ballistics gel and takes a swing at the torso, the blade snapping at the base. "There was a small flaw in the hilt of the sword, and it was a little hilt heavy, but otherwise well made, my dear." he picks up the blade and reattaches it, the blad looking seamless. "It is still very good for decoration, though" he says, producing a sheath for it |

"If you want one for decoration, I can do something much better than that, given the time." Still, she had to admit that it wasn't too bad, especially since she had created it after only a few minutes. If she had taken more time, it probably would have turned out better. |

"Try making another one, but this time, make the blade consistent in seight, just a little heavier at the tip than at the hilt to offset the balance." he says. He closes his eyes for just a moment and a sword materiliazes in midair. he takes it and balances the blade on his finger in the exact center, the blad on his finger. he balances it perfectly then hands it to Virane for her to examine herself. |

She took it, looking at it closely, especially where the blade met the guard. That was where her sword had been weak; it had shattered upon impact. That had to be corrected; a flaw like that was fatal. At last, satisfied that she had inspected everything there was to see, she began again. This sword was similar to the one she had made before, but instead of a vine decoration, this one was covered in intricate flames. The blade was once again double-edged, and a little wider than it had been before. When she was satisfied with her work, she opened her eyes, extending the sword to him. |

He takes the sword in his hand and takes a few experimental swings. The balance was perfect. He twirled the sword around then tossed it into the air and caught it with one finger in the dead center of the blade, balancing it perfectly. "Very well made, my dear." he says, taking the sword in hand once more. He then takes a few swings at the practice dummy to test durability, not trying to be careful; instead, he takes brutal swings to test the temper of the blade, which doesn't break. "And the durability is excellent." he says. he hands the sword back to Virane and creates a sheathe to go with it. |

She looked down at it, then shook her head. "You keep it. I will create another one for myself. The one she had made was a bit heavy for her; she would need to make one more appropriate for her size. With a bit of magic, she knew that she could make sure that the blade would be lightweight, but still unbreakable. |

It was easier for her this time. When the blade was formed, she held it up to show him. Like before, it was double-edged, but the blade was a bit strange. It was dark, almost black, and crimson ripples ran through it. When the sunlight caught it, it made it look like it was on fire. The hilt was wrapped in soft black leather, and like his, had a ruby in the pommel. The guard was silver, and decorated with red crescent moons, lined up so the points faced towards the blade. |

She took a deep breath, placing one hand on the flat of the blade and closing her eyes. Her mind reached out, and she searched for anything that might represent the presence of the sword. She wasn't completely sure how an inanimate object could contain life, but she trusted his words. Slowly, she let her mind wrap around the blade, trying to bring out whatever it was that lay within. |

At last, deep within her mind, she felt a flicker of something unknown, something that hadn't been there before. "I think...I found it." She dug a bit deeper, trying to establish a stronger connection so that she wouldn't lose it. |

Once she was certain that she had a firm grasp on the unfamiliar presence, she let her energy pour into it. The red shimmer layered into the blade seemed to come alive, and flames sprang up from it, but instead of the normal golden color, these were jet black. |

"Interesting use of Dark Flames, my dear. I would hav ethought that to be a little ahead of you for now, though." he says, taking the sword from her. Dark Flames were very dangerous to those not accustomed to dealing with them. He produces a sheathe and slides the sword in, extinguishing the flames. "I only wanted you to use normal fire for this sword, though." he says |

"I did," she replied, her voice reflecting surprise. "Or at least, I tried to. They are what I imagined when I pictured the sword. But what appeared..." She frowned. "I knew I was in control of them, but I did not summon them." |

A faint, indignant blush came to her cheeks, and she took the sword with a small exhalation. "That was proper," she muttered to herself, unsheathing the sword and holding it up before her. She closed her eyes, concentrating. This time, it was easier to locate the presence of the sword. Holding it with her mind, she repeated the process of wrapping her energy in it. As before, the flames sprang up readily, and, as before, they were still black. Not opening her eyes, she frowned, her eyebrows knitting in intense concentration. Slowly, the dancing flames began to shift color, turning first purple, then red, and finally, to the same shade of molten gold as her eyes. It was clear that it was an effort to keep them this way; a light sheen of sweat had broken out on her forehead. They kept wanting to change back, and she was having to exert her will over them to stop them from darkening. |

"Not in this," she replied, keeping her eyes closed. She wasn't sure why she was so certain, but there was no doubt in her mind that her words were wrong. "They want to turn black. I have to force them to remain this color. They are naturally black, though I do not understand why." |

Her head tilted slightly to the side, but she didn't question him. Extending one hand, she glanced down at it, and the flames ignited with barely a flick of her thoughts. It was amazing how easy this was now, compared to the first time she had done it. But then, flames had always been easy for her. As he had thought, these too were as dark as night. |

"I see. so it turns out that you are indeed naturally inclined to the Dark Flames, for some currently unknown reason." He waves his hand and two test dummies appear. "I'm going to show you the difference between the two flames, my dear." he says. He takes his normal sword of fire and slashes the dummie with it. The sword slashes and the flames sear, leaving a black line where it was struck. He takes the sword that she made and slashes the second dummie, and it was immediately engulfed in flames, and reduced to a pile of ash in a matter of minutes. "That is why we don't play with Dark Flames unless we absolutely mean it" he says |

Her eyes widened slightly, but that was the only sign of surprise that she gave. After watching the smoldering ashes for a moment, she turned to look at him. "But if every flame I make turns black, and it is such a strain to make them normal, then what do I do? The black flames bend to my will easily, in everything but their color. That is the one thing I have a hard time changing." |

She didn't like the sound of this at all. Fire seemed to be her natural element, and not being able to use it would be a serious handicap. Looking down at her hand, where the black flames had been dancing only a moment ago, she sighed, then nodded. There was no other way around it. It was just too dangerous. "The ability to use them must have been unlocked when I became a goddess. I never had trouble with them before." |

"Yes, I seem to recall that before you were made into a goddess, your mastery of the fire element was normal. Flame color and everything. I wonder why this has happened." he says. he falls silent for a moment "...You know what I think we should do? and this is just a sugestion right now, I am not saying that we need to do this, but we could put a seal on you that holds back the black flames and returns them to normal" his face is a very serious expression. He wanted to convey that he cared for her and didn't want her to accidentally touch herself with the black flames, but he was at a loss for words at the moment |

She thought about this for a moment. It sounded like a good idea, except for one thing. "Would I be able to break the seal, should I need to? You said that you felt great danger approaching for us, and now this powerful fire appears for me. I do not think it is mere coincidence. If we need it, and do not have access to it..." She let her voice trail off, leaving the consequences to his imagination. "I would not break the seal unless I absolutely had to, but I would feel much better if I knew that I still had access to those flames, should I need them." |

"When the time comes, the seal will break, yes." he says. He didn't want to make it so that she could break it herself, should she do it by accident. The seal would break either when he wanted it to, or when her life was in mortal peril, and no other time. "You will still have access to your fire though, the seal will only keep the Dark Flame for the normal Flame" he finishes |

Her golden eyes studied him for a long time. "You fear that they will harm me," she said quietly; it wasn't a question. But she had full control of them. If anything, they obeyed her even more than normal flames did. She didn't understand why he was so frightened of them. Had he had a bad experience with them in the past...? |

"Yes, I am, my dear. But only because there are others stronger than you who can control thos flames as well" He produces a ball of Dark Flam and it hovers between them. "Try to make it move, Virane. Please. i want you to try to make it touch me. And if you think that you are at a disadvatage with someone elses flames, feel free to make your own" he says, completely serioud about wanting her to hit him with them |

Her eyes went from him to the flames, then back again. Part of her wanted to refuse; she had seen what they could do. But the desperation in his voice was clear. Focusing her thoughts, she imagined the flames he was holding forming into a glowing dart, and shooting towards him. If they struck, they would only graze him, but she didn't think he would let them. |

The flames hit him right in the face, but they don't spread an inch. Slowly they congealed on themselves forming back into the ball before them. "you see my dear, others may have more control over you own flames and will be able to use them against you. This is the reason why I want to seal them away for now" he says, extinguishing the flames and walking to Virane, wrapping his arms around her. "Please" is his final plea. (I lied, this is the last one) |

"Please take off your shirt, y love" he asks somberly. He waits for her to do so, then he places his hand on her belly. he closes his eyes and concentrates on her energy. He mutters a few magical syllables that she can just barely understand, something about separating dark flames from normal. A strange symbol and some writing that she can't make out appear in the air and then settle on her skin, staying there but a moment then fading into her skin. She feels a strange sensation, as if something is hiding from her, and its just barely out of reach. "I am terribly sorry to have to do this to you dear, but I fear for your safety while these flames are still available to you. Even Gods can die if they are not careful" he says, taking her in his arms and hugging her tightly |

She nodded, although she wasn't too happy with this. Of course, she understood his concern, and appreciated it, but she would have liked there to be another way to go about it. As she had thought, it was like a part of her was missing. Still, she would have to get used to it, she supposed. "I will be careful," she assured him. |

"All Deities are indeed able to transport themselves without trouble, my dear. And it is relatively simple. All you do is focus on the area you want to move to, and will yourself to be there." He watches as she teleports, and notices that her left foot is just outside the far side of the ring. "Very close, my dear, but you'll need to try again....Look down" he says. At least she had been able to move herself; that was something. But she couldn't help but glance up at him; had she disappointed him by not being able to do it? Biting her lip, she stepped out of the circle, moving back to her former position. Closing her eyes again, she cleared everything from her mind, letting her thoughts be filled only with the circle before her. This time for sure! Gathering her energy, she once more let it surround her. |

This time he watched her teleport directly into the center of the ring. "very well done my dear" he says, coming up to her. He hugs her and kisses her affectionately. Before trying anything, she used her enhanced vision to study the area within the circle. She didn't need to be told that the better she knew a place, the easier it would be to teleport to it. When she was sure she had it memorizes, she repeated the process, hoping that it would work the first time. His approval was something she always desired, no matter how often she pleased him. |
