| "Well, let's to before Alistair turns up." [Where do you want to go???] |

| The next morning, Adam woke up early. The light was shining dimly through the window and he got up slowly, feeling dizzy. By this time, Lucas was already up and downstairs, sitting by the window in such a way that he was out of the light's path. A glass half full of blood sat on the table in front of him. |

| "You certainly like reading don't you?" Said Lucas, not taking his eyes away from the window. |
| "What is it you're reading?" |
| "Oh? Waking up everyday as a vampire isn't enough for you?" Lucas asked. Meanwhile, Adam was slowly walking down the stairs. |
| "How much of it is close to the truth I wonder?" Adam commented as he got to the bottom of the stairs. "Up already?" Asked Lucas. "I couldn't really sleep." |
| Adam sat down at the table across from Lucas and put his head down on the table's sun-warmed surface. "I'm hungry." He whispered. "There's stuff in the fridge." "Yeah, but what about her?" Adam asked, obviously referring to Evangeline. |
| "If you're worried we can just go out and get you something later." Lucas said vaguely. "...Okay." |
| "Come on, not tell him anything? You're all over him. If he can get people who don't even know him to say what he wants them to he can get you to as well." Lucas replied. |
| "Great family you got there." Lucas muttered. "Is it always like this?" Asked Adam. "Pretty much." |
| "Well I wouldn't be too hung up on missing real family cause they're not always all they've cracked up to be." Adam interjected. |
| "Whatever. It's done now." |
| Adam got up. "I need some air." He said, heading over to the door. He went outside without another word. |
| Adam stood out on the porch, taking a deep breath. His dizziness had worsened since he'd gone downstairs and he didn't know why. |
| "I dunno." Said Lucas. "At this point it's hard to tell." |
| "Yeah, I guess." Said Lucas. Adam gripped the porch railing, closing his eyes and taking a deep breath in the hope it would help him steady himself. He opened them again a few seconds later and his gaze drifted downwards. He stopped when something caught his attention; on each of his fingernails, closest to the nail-bed there were crescents of black. 'What the...?' He wondered. |
| Adam examined his nails, unsure whether he was just surprised or worried. "What is this?" He said aloud. |
| Adam clenched his fist, hiding his nails. 'This must be part of it.' |
| Adam heard the piano, remembering a time when his mother had taught him to play. |
| Lucas took out a book and started reading while she played. |
| "Piano eh?" Lucas commented. "My aunt used to play the piano." |
| "She died." Lucas replied. "A few years ago. Cancer." |
