Episode 1 Where things left off, the Hero Hunter Garou remains at large, and he has caused a lot of trouble for the Hero Association as not even an army of S-Class heroes were enough to take him down. So that has the association calling in a strategy meeting to plan their next move. While that's happening, Saitama, Genos, King, and Bang are just playing games at Saitama's apartment unaware of the chaos going on, and Fubuki comes in to inform them of the new threat the association had been talking about as Garou is gathering monsters to attack. So this season begins with buildup, this after there was too much going on in season 2 that are seemingly unrelated, but are all tied together, with Garou at the center of it all. So with that, a war is about to happen. The first season was perfect, but the studio change really ruined the second season, and not to mention the way it ended as it was in the middle of something when it ended. And now, this season picks up right where it left off with widespread chaos about to be taken to the next level, all while Saitama is just waiting until the moment to be a hero arrives.

It took me a while to get my mind caught up as to where the series left off. Saitama is off to take down Garou for his own reasons, and he doesn't care about the other stuff going on regarding the situation.

I didn't even have any expectation from this and I still felt greatly disappointed. 6 years... this took 6 years and all they could do for the 1st episode was a boring introduction sequence for the characters that would be involved in this arc. If they can deliver whatever it is they have prepared really REALLY well, I'll ignore this greatly disappointing 1st episode.

Holy crap did that look bad, it looked like one of those amateur animations people put out on Youtube. Why are they even bothering?

Episode 2 And now, Garou goes around and loading up on food after the last battle left him with an empty stomach, and ends up dining and dashing and meeting up with Tareo again. Saitama was also eating there, but only seems to care about that rather than coming to fight Garou. Seeing that Saitama is a small fry as far as the Hero Association is concerned that Garou doesn't even bother with him. Saitama wasn't planning to fight him there and then, but he punches him anyway out of impulse to beat him down. And then King the Ripper shows up intending to kill Tareo, but Garou fights back. This goes to show why Garou stands out as a villain as while he has a bone to pick against the heroes, he won't let monsters stand in the way. The first episode was pretty boring, bad-looking buildup here as a reminder just how far this show has fallen thanks in large part of the change of studio, this episode gets back to the matter at hand.

How ironic that Saitama goes after Garou for dining and dashing when he actually does the same thing (because he lost his wallet), leaving Blizzard to foot his bill. Garou believes a monster should spread fear just by existing, while the Monster Association's ideals lean more towards wanton mass slaughter. It's clear that they will never get along. Meanwhile, Zombieman has tracked down the House of Evolution, which Saitama took down back in season one.

I can live with so-so animation if the story is decent and there's a few good laughs, but so far they're not executing anything very well.

They're not being too creative in handling Garou's dilemma-- He's clearly still pretty much an empathetic human. Also, I've forgotten the events of S2 at this point so, I'm quite baffled-- Why is Garou able to survive a punch from Saitama again? Is his gimmick simply that he's monstrously strong? If so, that's quite lame. The first big villain of the series had the excuse of having developed multiple centuries' worth of skin armors, which technically dies one by one from each punch of Saitama, and is how both of them got what they wanted: A good challenging fight. There were some fun moments, but not the with the same humor the first season had; just ordinary gags now. It's easy to watch half-heartedly so, I'll keep watching. Might consider English dub though, to make it much easier to watch on background.

@zkeleton That's true. Although, in Sonic's case, he's the one who brought his testicles on Saitama's raised knuckles. It did kill his future kids though. xD

Episode 3 Dr. Genus talks about how Saitama went from an ordinary salaryman to the strongest hero who isn't among the S-ranks at the association. While that's going on, Garo is taken down by the monsters Insect God and King the Ripper, kidnapping Tereo in the process. Meanwhile back at the apartment, Saitama is worried over napa cabbage he left behind that Fubuki found and brought in. Then Dr. Kuseno drops by to check up on Genos and presents a gift of premium beef. In the meantime, the monsters are getting ready to attack and two of them have an intense fight before that happens. Just more buildup here as Garou is not sure what hit him, all while Saitama is more worried about his hot pot dinner, and the monsters have taken a hostage and are about to wreak havoc.

Garou could have easily taken down those two monsters, but when a third one shows up and diverts his attention, he gets trounced. The monsters should have checked to make sure he really was dead, because it turns out he isn't. Meanwhile, Saitama's more concerned about getting ingredients for dinner, even as Dr. Kuseno pays a visit to his apartment.

Really? A sadistic slasher villain with no regard for human life, who doesn't seem to be wary of his monster superiors' orders, left Garou with his body parts intact? And didn't check if he was still alive? A real evil sadist wouldn't even have to check on him since they would've done too much that survival isn't possible anymore. At this point, I'd rather them drop the art quality to very cartoonish levels and focus on the comedy instead. There was a very few fun moments, but it felt like they rushed through those-- not sure why when nothing notable came after.

Episode 4 Garou gets ready to strike the Monster Association, while the Hero Association is prepared to attack without Bang or Genos as they were removed from the operation. While that's going on, Saitama and friends are having their hot pot dinner. In the meantime the heroes are having their meeting to try and stop the monsters from reaching the city as they try and learn from their mistakes after things didn't go well the last time around. Just as King the Ripper was about to kill Tareo, Garou comes to the rescue. Lots of buildup here, but the only action here is Garou coming in to save the kid. Let's see what plan of attack the Hero Association comes up with, all while Saitama is nowhere to be seen on the battlefield as all he's thinking about is his hot pot dinner at his apartment.

Episode 5 While Garou manages to save Tareo, Garou is now in a fight for his life as he's attacked by Overgrown Pochi, and then battles Gyoro-Gyoro and the leader of the Monster Association Orochi. Garou ends up being manipulated by Gyoro-Gyoro, but breaks his brainwashing. And then he has to fight Orochi as that giant monster shows why he's the boss there, giving Garou quite a tough time. While that's going on, Saitama is finally in action again as he heads out and eliminates anything that stands in his way with a punch. So after everybody else had been doing the fighting, Saitama is now getting in on the action.

The show itself is disappointing enough, but then you get these crappy subtitles where they can't even put text on the top and bottom of the screen at the same time. It's like they're working with 50 year old technology or something. Truly pathetic.

Ooof right back to garbage animation, the Garou show sucks. Having an MC who can beat the enemy in 5 seconds so you make him sit on his ass and follow a bunch of other characters is really lame. And will someone kill this whiny kid already. How is he still alive?

Episode 6 The heroes gather to talk strategy against the Monster Association as they are looking to defeat the boss and rescue the executive's son being held captive. But then things get out of hand when Amai Mask shows up. Then King arrives, and a support squad is brought in to back up the S-class heroes. While that's happening, Fubuki and Genos return to the apartment only to find out that Saitama has left and seeing that his strength is needed and time is short that Fubuki decides to go at it without him knowing that he's bound to show up eventually. So now that all that is out of the way, it's time for some action. Well, this episode shows how much this series has fallen as the show is great because of the action and humor. But here, it's just one long strategy meeting that needlessly drags on. While the second season is a big dropoff from the first season, at least it had a solid foundation and a good story that would have been great if it had the same production values as the first season, but that's not happening this season as the animation quality continues to tank.

"I forced myself to watch episode 4, and for that reason... I'm out." -- Barbzuwa-_- I appreciated the hotpot scene. But it's clear to me that I don't really care about the story, or any of the character, anymore. I seriously don't even know what's going on anymore aside from a villain organization existing, but all the characters are dilly dallying still (they've stretched this out too much). 4/10 - Dropped! (Or binge watch in English dub later on.)

Episode 7 And now, the heroes are in action as the monsters supercharged by Gyoro-Gyoro attack the city. But Tatsumaki is unwilling to fight and everybody else needs to pick up the slack. There's quite a lot of muscle involved here as Blackluster and Captain Mizuki shows off their strength there, all Puri Prisoner makes mincemeat of the monsters. Among those who didn't fight are King, who Gyoro-Gyoro was at least hoping to see fight. Gyoro-Gyoro's response to those who fail him are quite brutal as they get squished, then fed to Orochi. At least there's a lot of action here after a lot of talk and stuff, but even so it's just action and not much of a story behind it.

Reading about how they changed the track girls outfit for some reason, how can that possibly make this better or worse when the whole thing is just so much SUCK? These "heroes" and monsters are all so lame. Season 1 was so fun because they were all a parody, but these are just stupid, it's not like you can run out of super heroes to parody, why did the author stop?

MenchiK1 said: That might be the best way to describe the identity that OPM lost: It used to be a 'superhero' parody that ended up looking so cool and fun, but now (I'd say since S2), they made it to be taken seriously as a Shounen, after losing all the charm that made it look cool and fun in the first place (Art and Animation quality, humor, interesting characters.)These "heroes" and monsters are all so lame. | Episode 8 And now, Flashy Flash gets the spotlight here as he fights off against the monsters Tempest Gale and Hellfire Flame. While Flash has maintained his pride as a ninja, Hellfire and Gale have completely abandoned it. While those two were pretty fast, Flash is even faster then them as they are sliced in half. And then Child Emperor comes across Phoenix Man, but Child's barrier couldn't be scratched by the likes of that bird. Cline breaks the cell to rescue one of the hostages, but then Hedro-Jellyfish is there to ambush him and Child quickly deals with that thing with his hidden bag of gadgets. Once again, I feel like I'm watching an entirely different show with this season as while there's action, Saitama is nowhere to be found, all while the animation continues to really suck. |

Flashy Flash takes on two ninjas from his village who became monsters, and while he ultimately is victorious against them, he loses his communicator and has no way to reach the other heroes. Child Emperor manages to find Waganma and uses his multitude of gadgets to deal with the monsters that stand in his way, while remaining focused on getting the kid to safety.

Episode 9 Phoenix Man revives, true to his name, and Child Emperor is pushed to the breaking point as he is forced to use his trump card, a mecha suit that he can only maintain for three minutes max. But Phoenix Man absorbs the brunt of all his attacks, getting even stronger. Child Emperor forces Phoenix Man into a pool of water expecting to get Flash's help, but he soon finds out only his communicator is there. Phoenix Man reanimates the corpses in the water, but Child Emperor dispatches them and launches a massive attack to scorch Phoenix Man's costume. He manages to slip a small machine inside that tickles Phoenix Man like crazy, causing him to tear off the costume, weakening himself enough for Child Emperor to finish the job. Meanwhile, the two ninja Flash fought have actually survived, and they run off naked, running into Saitama in a dark passage. After trying to jump him and failing, they think better of it and run away to try and find Flash again.

Episode 9 And now, Child Emperor is in action as he uses his special ability to put on some mecha armor to battle like one against Phoenix Man. But while he shows how strong and resourceful he is, Phoenix Man just keeps on absorbing his attacks. But Child Emperor finds a weakness in that he just needs to penetrate the costume and he slips a tickling machine into Phoenix Man to cause him to tear it off, and it was all over after that. In the meantime, Saitama is finally joining the battle after the two ninjas that Flash defeated survive, but are in the nude after that beatdown. At least things are better when there's action, but Saitama still has been largely relegated to irrelevance in this season.

Episode 10 Next battle has Zombieman squaring off against Vampire, While Vampire make the first move sucking Zombieman's blood while he was introducing himself, the blood tastes very awful to him. Zombieman makes quick work of Vampire seeing that he is unaffected by whatever Vampire threw at him. Then Amai Mask arrives to deal with Do-S after three other heroes fight her and her army of battle suits worn buy guys she seduced. The three go off while Amai Mask deals with Do-S, and they run into Atomic Samurai battling Devil Long Hair. Then some more monsters come to take on Atomic Samurai, but they just get chopped up pretty easily. Pretty much, just more heroes showing why they are S-ranked as Zombieman, Amai Mask, and Atomic Samurai made it look easy.

Zombieman hacks up a vampire, then makes quick work of the monsters that were watching the fight. After Atomic Samurai's teammates try to subdue the brainwashed rescue party, Amai Mask steps up to deal with them and the whip-wielding woman behind them. Amai Mask is definitely stronger than he looks, but there must be a reason why he didn't want to go into details. Pig God eats a monster that tried to eat him, and Atomic Samurai's teammates next face off against a monster wielding his hair as a weapon. As for Atomic Samurai himself, he prevails against a machine that tried to copy his moves.

Episode 11 With that, Waganma has been rescued by Child Emperor. While the dispatched heroes accomplished their mission, Child Emperor is not quite finished with his business. While that's going on, Atomic Samurai is dealing with Black Sperm and while that monster can multiply like crazy, it's no match for a falling ceiling. Then there's Zombieman dealing with Homeless Emperor as that monster couldn't be hit with bullets. Homeless Emperor began his transformation into a monster after being fired from his job and deciding to go against natural order and see Earth as his home. Then there's Puri-Puri Prisoner fighting Vacuumer after the elephant head kills his fellow monsters, and just when it looked like Nyaaan defeated Prisoner, that doesn't faze him one bit. This episode pretty much cycles through all the battles going on, and while the main mission has been accomplished, there's still a lot of fighting going on. One more episode left for this season that has been a failure on so many levels.

Child Emperor's brought Waganma to the surface, but he has to go back down underground to find Tareo. Atomic Samurai slashes Black Spermatozoon like crazy, but he's soon overwhelmed by sheer numbers. He brings the ceiling down on them all, but is that even enough to stop the monster? Zombieman faces a homeless guy who claims to have obtained a divine power, and Puri-Puri Prisoner fights off a guy with an elephant head, but he soon encounters his inmates who have been monsterized. Then a cat monster slashes at him, and he gives chase through the walls, ultimately burying the monsterized inmates in a pile of rubble. And all the while, Saitama is wandering around lost in the passageways. There's more drama than a cour can fit in, but I wasn't anticipating this whole battle against the monsters to be resolved in twelve episodes, anyway.

| Episode 12 (Finale) Saitama is finally in action here as he takes down the black dog Pochi with a single punch. Tatsumaki takes on Gyoro-Gyoro and totally overwhelms him as that monster was expecting backup, but isn't getting it. And then Saitama goes on to take on the boss of the monsters, Orochi, seeing that he's none too pleased of the distractions he's causing underneath his home. So Saitama comes in and finishes Orochi off with one punch to put an end to the Monsters Association. While that was going on, King runs into the kid who was saved, and is being asked to fight a monster chasing him, but that kid was just a monster in disguise. And with that comes the end of this train wreck of a season that shows just how far this show has fallen after a perfect first season, giving us the flawed second season, and now a dumpster fire of a third season. And on that note, this show will continue with season 4 in 2027. Given how awful things turned out with the condensed production schedule that it's a good thing the animators and staff are getting a lot of time to get it right. Final Thoughts Where do I begin? Simply put, this show is a production disaster as just about nothing good ever comes from a rushed production that this is. The production values are a far cry from the masterful job Madhouse did in the first season, and the animation is just a total hack job, and while J.C. Staff is a capable studio, it's clear that it didn't have the time or budget to produce something great. Also, Saitama is largely absent in this season and he is the reason why the first season, and to a lesser extent but still greater than with this season the second, all while the story is just fight after fight with no story to back it up. While the second season looked ugly, at least it had a solid story around it that would be another elite tier show if it had gotten the same treatment in production the first did. That doesn't exist at all in this season. Granted, this show's arc was going to be difficult to adapt, but this kid of effort is laughably bad. Anyway, the parts with Saitama and Garou are still enjoyable, so that saves it from being the worst of the worst, but that's not saying much when the guys calling the shots on the animation production are cutting corners like crazy. | Superalloy Blackluster is disappointed in Insect God, while Tornado fights Gyoro-Gyoro and pulverizes him. Meanwhile, Saitama knocks out the demon dog Pochi, and then Orochi shows up to find out about all the ruckus. Saitama effortlessly finishes off Orochi after becoming bored of his backstory. Meanwhile, King encounters a monster disguised as Waganma, and his racing heartbeat causes the monster to quiver into a puddle. Well, like I said last week, twelve episodes isn't enough to resolve the whole deal with the Monster Association, and season 3 will continue in 2027 with a part 2. |
