| infinite wealth is a literal masterpiece imo the best in the series (0 close behind followed by a major diff) you really should play 7 first, but its not technically necessary (okay as a starting point if you dont wanna play the whole ass series and want a fresh protag), but 7 is also fantastic so it would be worth it |

cody said: i like the rpg ones from what ive seen they're amazing, i agree with @anime that yakuza 7 (like a dragon, the first RPG one/first game featuring ichiban as the protagonist) is one of the best. in fact yakuza 7 is just my #1 game of all time. i personally started with like a dragon and infinite wealth but think it would have been better if i started with 0 for me, like a dragon (7) is the best all-around game (story and gameplay) while infinite wealth (8) has some really good changes to the combat and quality-of-life, but is weak in the story |

| also i must say, as much as i love kiryu, he's one of the goat game characters, i think ichiban is probably my favourite protagonist in any story (ever) and coming from me that's high praise so you should definitely play yakuza 7 and infinite wealth at least |
| ichiban saved my life with that rock bottom speech fr this ending had me sobbing... infinite wealth just didn't hit the same and they made some weird design choices like not giving ichiban has full party until one of the very last chapters |

| i would personally rank infinite wealth at least a few leagues above 7, it's not as heavy stakes as some previous entries but the strength in the narrative is in the theming and the delivering in that theming which is hard to go into without divulging major spoilers so yeahhh i think it opened itself up more to telling the 2nd arc in a new major story, which makes things less explodey, sure, but it allowed more freedom to use its characters more candidly, while still comfortably allowing an old legacy to be laid to rest with respect and dedication to the story up until now that balance really shows itself off in a lot of ichiban's stories and in all of kiryu's memory quests also the gameplay and visuals and everything about it is just the rgg formula perfected, ugh i cant sing that game enough praises honestly |

anime said: all of kiryu's memory quests this is why i think it would've been better if i had waited to play infinite wealth after the full kiryu saga, like it probably would've had more impact. i skipped a lot of the memory stuff in my IW playthrough cause, well, none of the references meant much to me. but when i go back and replay IW someday, after finishing all the kiryu games, i'm sure that content will hit way harder |
