This show premiered with two episodes. Episode 1 And it begins with Gaku, the computer otaku, finally getting the Vaio laptop that he has saved a decade's worth of New Year's money for, but nearly gets it stolen until Haru comes to his rescue. And then Haru and Gaku interview for jobs at Dragon Bank, which is Japan's largest IT company. Gaku's social skills made him somebody undesirable, but Kirihime believes in him and that his communication skills mask his true potential. And then Haru comes along and totally aces the interview to get hired, only for him to resign on his first day on the job. Haru is thinking big, and he thinks he has the right partner in crime to pull it off seeing that Gaku hacked into Dragon Bank's supposedly secure system and found a vulnerability he told Kirihime about. To that end, he makes that declaration on the window while taking on a part-time job washing the windows of the company HQ. That was a pretty nice start there going to show that despite being polar opposites, Haru and Gaku can make big things happen. Episode 2 Now that Haru had decided that he wants to start his own company with Gaku, the first order of business is to upgrade Gaku's furniture seeing that his desk chair has seen better days. With a trillion dollar (maybe it might be more believable if it were a trillion yen, but this is in dollars) his end game, he throws his first pitch with his client being none other than Kirihime. They talk about it while she's hitting the gym, and Haru tried to lift 200kg, which is insane for somebody with that frame seeing that the trainer can't even do that, but he actually lifted half of that as he secretly replaced the weights with styrofoam fakes. While what Haru did was crazy, at least Kirihime is now quite interested in those two. Pretty entertaining stuff there seeing Haru throwing his charisma around like that. So in all, I really enjoyed what I have watched so far as the manga this show is from is great to the point where it also got a live action adaptation. While I'm not a fan of the character designs (and in particular, the faces), Madhouse is money here. And then the theme songs are bound to get stuck in my head as well. This show feels much like Great Pretender, except that these guys aren't breaking any laws in conning evildoers out of their fortunes as Haru's charisma is much like Laruent's, all while save for the introvert part that doesn't apply to Makoto, Gaku is a doer who just needs a place to use his skills.

Wowsers. This has potential to be interesting but boy is it ugly. I gather the character designs are the same in the manga, but that doesn't make it any easier on the audience. The female fashions are particularly bad.

Episode 3 For Haru's next stunt, Haru negotiates with Kirihime and gets some investment funds, but in doing so Haru and Gaku become her property since she gets a 51% shareholder ratio. Or at least that's what it looks like as it's deigned to bait other investors into investing with them. And with the Security Championship coming up, this is the perfect time to make it happen seeing that he has Gaku and his computer wizardry for that hacking competition. Unfortunately because he's just one man whereas all other teams have four that he didn't stand a chance against the competition. However, the competition has a loophole in that he can have secret helpers, and Haru has recruited 100 people to do just that. Let's see how things go now that Haru has recruited a ton of investors. While the show continues to do a nice job with the drama and buildup, once again I just don't like the character designs that drags this show down.

Haru keeps reminding me of Martin Shkreli. He's just that punchable. The character designs continue to be wince-worthy, even the background characters. But the drama's not bad; I'm actually getting kinda invested (which is an appropriate adjective for this show.) I notice Madhouse slipped their name into the teams list.

Episode 4 Thanks to the 100 guys that Haru recruited to help Gaku out in a competition where they stood no chance going solo, Gaku pulls through to the point where whether or not they qualify for the finals depends on the 777-point question where they only have one shot at answering. Haru was quite helpful as well cooking fried rice and buying a ton of energy shots so that Gaku can stay awake through 24 straight grueling hours of hacking, as well as advising Gaku to save that question for last. The question was suspiciously easy, and just when Gaku was about to be baited into falling for the trick, Haru stops him and tells him to read between the lines, and that got Gaku to understand why Haru submitted that long advertisement phrase as their team name. After rethinking the question, Gaku submits the right answer, and they are in. So with that, Gaku did beat the odds, but now he will need to beat even bigger odds seeing that one of the teams he's up against is once consisting of Dragon Bank's top IT guys. And to put even more pressure on him, Haru makes a bet where losing means living as minimum wage slaves for the rest of their careers as failure means nobody will invest in them. Once again, the drama is nicely done, but at the same time the ugly character designs are off-putting, especially when Haru does his whole shaman priest antics. In any case, it's still worth watching for the drama and the great ending theme song.

Interesting how they played the contest to both their strengths - Gaku is good at straightforward problem-solving, whereas Haru is good at thinking like a dick - i.e., the sort of person who comes up with (or solves) deliberately misleading questions.

Episode 5 That was some performance that Haru pulled off so that Gaku could cheat his way to victory, even though Gaku was totally unaware that he was cheating. It all started well before the finals as Haru secretly placed a secret network in the room and because he didn't turn it on until a minute into the competition that it wasn't caught. And then at the start of the competition where the objective is to hack the "castles" of the other teams, he did that weird Shinto priest dance that was designed to drop aluminum particles on that wand he was shaking to jam the main servers. This gave Gaku a head start, but then the other competitors teamed up to take out Gaku. And then when Kirihime left, Haru gave the signal to use the back doors that nobody else can access seeing that the secret network was designed to steal everybody's network passwords. That was some stunt that Haru pulled off there seeing that there was no way a solo hacker stood a chance against full teams of hackers, especially with one of them being Dragon Bank's best. In the meantime, Kedoin and Mizuki are there to see it all unfold as this cowboy and schoolgirl are about to become Trillion Game's partners after seeing what just whent down.

A "Man In The Middle" attack. Classic, but entertainingly presented, which isn't easy. Much respect. Still have a hard time with the lantern jaws and droopy eyes, especially on the women. But hey, a style is a style.

Episode 6 In the end, Gaku and Haru were DQ'd for the whole Shinto priest stunt as the judges who are loyal to Dragon Bank deemed it a physical attack on them. At least nobody suspected them of the fake network as the consequences would have been far worse if that was discovered. But those two accomplished what they set out to do as they got an investor in Kedoin, and with his venture capital investment of 15% of company stocks, Haru has started up his own company, Trillion Game Inc., all while at the very least the bet with Kirihime was deemed a push so while she won't give that 51% investment, those two aren't her minimum wage slaves either. Before that happens, Haru and Mizuki really get intimate with each other in the hotel room. So with that, the company is now off the ground as Kedoin is expecting great things having been awed by Haru's charisma, while trusting Gaku's brains to get over the trillion yen goal.

Episode 7 Trillion Game has it's first new hire in Rinrin, who previously worked part-time at a flower shop while trying to land a job. Rinrin is somebody who studies up on the companies she applies to, but her interviewing skills are holding her back. And then Gaku asks that rhetorical question from the book published by Dragon Bank's CEO, who is Kirihime's father, and while she didn't answer it correctly, she knew about the question. So with that, Rinrin is on-board, and right away she's named the company president even though she's fresh out of college. Her first order of business is to decide what kind of business Trillion Game is, and given Gaku's skill set, a security IT company is by far the most logical option. Rinrin is certainly someone who can succeed in this role, and it's a good thing Gaku noticed her strengths so that this company can make it big.

Episode 8 As Rinrin is quite knowledgeable about flowers having worked part-time at a flower shop that the first idea for their business is to launch an online shop with flowers being picked out by an AI. Or at least that's what the customers are to believe as it's actually Rinrin working behind the scenes to act as that AI. But while sales were booming at the beginning, it takes quite a lot out of Rinrin and as such it's not sustainable. So Haru makes a deal with a major flower company looking to beat the leading flower company hoping that the "AI" services they provide will make the difference. To do that, they need to make 20 million sales in one month, a tall task for a startup company, but once again Haru has an idea and they head out to Kabukicho where there's quite a lot of demand for flowers. It will be interesting to see how things turn out, but once again Haru is throwing Gaku under the bus leaving it up to him to figure out how to complete another tall task.

Episode 9 Thanks to Gaku using augmented reality, the online flower shop turned out to be a hit in Kabukicho. To make it possible, Haru and Gaku needed to go to the night clubs there as the undercover hosts Haruya and Gakuya, and while Haru did all the talking, Gaku did all the work behind the scenes by capturing images and using 3D printing to make the AR work. And the end result is an increase in traffic on their flower shop with Rinrin acting the site's fake AI. So with that, they shattered 20 million and they got the contract for the flower company, which as Haru puts it, would be used to develop a real AI for the flower shop. These guys just keep on finding creative ways to win people over as they have a charismatic guy and a computer wiz working well in tandem.

Episode 10 It was nice while it lasted, but in the end Trillion Game just couldn't compete with Dragon Bank and their vast amounts of resources and control of the media market. Their pseudo-AI flower shop was nice with the flower shop Rinrin worked for moving in to serve as additional "AIs", but once the biggest competitor caught wind of their success, they turned to Dragon Bank to build an AI shop of their own using a real AI (something that will forever remain a secret between Trillion Game, the flower shop, and the now-bankrupt flower company), and the rest was history. So having been thoroughly beaten in the AI flower shop business, they turn their attention to a new industry, social games. Of course, Sony and Nintendo were going to refuse them, and it was pointless to ask Dragon Bank as well, but they found a small group of developers led by Sakura who are quite interested in their ambitions as they try to win over gamers by emphasizing quality over profits. Of course, Gaku's apartment is too cramped, so they move into a high-rise office, and while they earned quite a lot of money from their flower shop deal, this is just overdoing it with a 3 million yen rent per month. Anyway, let's see what Trillion Game comes up with here seeing that once again, Haru is thinking big.

Episode 11 And now, this show is starting to become more like Great Pretender here as Haru digs into Laurent's bag of tricks to come up with this scheme to bring in the creator of Dragon Musume, the only good game made by Dragon Bank that has racked up a ton of revenue in microtransactions, to convince investors to invest in this next project. Except that the creator is nothing more than a figurehead as there's no such person going by the pen name of Sekai no Horimoto, and the guy claiming to be him is just an actor. Gaku was able to figure out that Haru just pulled one heck of a con job there, but all that matters is that the investors get what they paid for, and after that it doesn't matter. So with that, the game development is a go, but now they have quite a lot of work ahead of them.

Episode 12 Once again, Haru manages to find a way to get what he wants as he wants to purchase the majority stakeholder share God Promotions and knows the truth about what really happened. A few years ago, Himuro, who is the featured actor of the agency, hit a lady who jumped out onto the road without looking and Himuro hit him with a car. Normally, Himuro would get out and check to see if the lady was alright after that collision, but because of his public profile many onlookers were photographing him and he panicked by driving away, turning what should have been a minor incident into a hit-and-run. Kedoin decided to disguise himself as Himuro and take full responsibility for his actions, leading him to leaving God Promo and instead get into the business of venture capital. So Haru's strategy is to go public with that switcheroo if the of God Promo Jin refuses to accept Haru's offer. Quite an effective blackmail scheme that was, and now Trillion Game has secured another partner in this crazy scheme that Haru is cooking up. And now, we shall see where all this goes as these guys will need all the help they can get to go up against Dragon Bank.

Episode 13 Haru managed to con his way into buying the majority share of God Promotions, giving them the media company they need to go toe-to-toe with Dragon Bank. He did it through threats and blackmail as he threatened to expose Himuro if he hadn't agreed to Haru's demands, which would have ruined the company. So after getting Jin to speak Haru's words to the public at the Budokan about him stepping down and having Kedoin take over the company, Haru achieved his goal, though it meant having to spend all of the 2 billion yen in investments and venture capital to get it done. It turns out that the social game was all just a cover, though Sakura and company made a game of their own during this time. While everybody is in a celebratory mood, not Gaku as he's none too pleased about getting used for this operation. Things are headed for an ugly showdown between the fellow founders of Trillion Game seeing that he's about to get a lot more publicity now. With that, this show will take the next two weeks off before starting the second half in which Trillion Game is now a company that everybody knows about. Should be interesting to see how the relationship between Haru and Gaku becomes now that Gaku has become disillusioned with this whole concept.

With the start of the second half, that means new theme songs, and with the first ones being total bangers, especially the ending, that it was a tall order to outbang them. But unfortunately, the first theme songs are way better. The new opening Over the Top (not to be confused with the first One Piece opening of the Wano arc with the same name) sounds more like something that belongs in a hot-blooded shonen anime show like a mecha show, while the ending feels like a Naruto ending, which again doesn't really fit this show. Episode 14 After the stunt Haru pulled off, Gaku is at a total loss seeing that unfortunately buying GodPro comes with a huge opportunity cost as now Sakura and company don't have the budget to make their game of dreams. Rinrin calls him when she finds out that the bank account was dried up due to Haru's purchase and she immediately hangs up when he mentions what Haru did. Worried that Rinrin would cause a firestorm at GodPro, Gaku tries to stop her, and then what Rinrin says is something he took to heart in that everything was made by a person seeing that Dragon Musume's creator is not a real person. That gave Gaku the idea to hack into Dragon Bank's server to find the creator, and he got in. But he had the opportunity to steal a lot of other info as well, and he was thinking that eventually someone else will steal it if he doesn't. But in the end, he only found the creator and left without stealing anything, all while pointing out that there supposedly state-of-the-art security system has vulnerabilities that Gaku was generous enough to point out. While everybody is having a hard time wrapping their heads around the hacking, Kirihime knew that it was Gaku seeing that only he is capable of such sophisticated hacks. Next time, Gaku and Kirihime go on a date as unlike with the rest of the DB scumbags, Kirihime has a pretty high opinion of Gaku, so it will be interesting to see where this goes.

Episode 15 Seeing that Gaku wasn't expecting to be invited on a date at the amusement park with Kirihime that he's scrambling to figure out how to look and what to do, going as far as to contact Hiroto for advice. But in the end, he asked Rinrin via his AI flower shop for the answer. So after that, they go on a date, and Gaku was quite nervous throughout the date, especially with Nagase tailing the two. And then the moment of truth came when Gaku and Kirihime were alone in the Ferris wheel where Kirihime tells it straight to Gaku that she knows only he's capable of hacking Dragon Bank the way he did, and seeing that he pointed out the company's vulnerabilities that Kirihime gives him what he was looking for, the guys who created Dragon Musume. It was quite an awkward date, but in the end while Kirihime is selfish, she has a soft spot for talented guys like Gaku. It will be interesting to see what Gaku does with that info and if the creator is anybody noteworthy.

Episode 16 Kirihime gave Gaku the creator of Dragon Musume, Toru Hebijima, and right away Hebijima arranged for a meeting with Gaku and Rinrin. Hebijima is making quite a lot of money at Dragon Bank as his salary is 15 million yen a month, but he's not earning it to do what he wants as he's quite passionate about games, but often sees great games being big money losers. But he struck gold creating Dragon Musume, and as one of the terms in his contract, he's not allowed to publicly reveal that he's the creator. But after seeing how much passion and pride Sakura has in making games, he decides to help them out and make a high-quality game that will make money seeing that they already have the high-quality part down. But in the end, the company couldn't afford to meet Hebijima's demands to hire him. However, Haru anticipated this and having acquired the majority of GodPro's assets that he could afford to pay him what he had been making at Dragon Bank, and he's now working for Sakura's team as a member of GodPro. He was right on the money when he said that those who do great things get unrewarded, the unfortunate truth about the way business is in Japan.

Episode 17 This episode begins with another peak into the future as thanks to Hebijima, Trillion Game's gaming sector has gotten so big that everybody has a party on a luxury cruise ship. So with everything that happened, it's back to the main story where Haru shows how he managed to bring in Hebijima into God Promo so that he can do what he has dreamed of doing without being handcuffed by the megacorporation's desire to prioritize profits. As for the money, while his salary pales in comparison to what Dragon Bank has been paying him, he's instead given God Promo stocks that figure to be quite valuable in the future. And now that he's an employee of God Promo, he's working closely with the game development team. But Dragon Bank isn't going to let things slide as Kirihime's father orchestrates a scandal centered around Hebijima that causes God Promo's stock to tank. That puts Trillion Game in quite a tough situation seeing that they are quickly running out of money, and they will be drowning in debt if they don't do something. Selling their stock is out of the question as it would mean Jin reclaims ownership of the company, and Hebijima suggests that they fire him and even as a non-employee will continue to help them behind the scenes, but Gaku is determined to pull through. Next time, Gaku will participate in an IT competition and winning that will turn their situation around.

Episode 18 This episode was quite the roller coaster ride there. After God Promo's stocks tank thanks to a scheme from Dragon Bank's CEO, Haru orchestrates a scandal that coerces another fellow entertainment agency, Sumeragi Promo, into a partnership. Then at the agreement ceremony, everybody except Haru and Kedoin drink from a large sake cup, while Haru and Kedoin had to drink mouthwash that they spit out not long afterwards. With that agreement where they agree on a large AI sector, the stocks rebound. And with that, Sakura and company now have their budget to make the game that they want. But Dragon Bank tries to copy them once again by creating a similar game of their own using Dragon Musume characters to steer the gaming traffic away to play a game that's all style over substance. However, Haru fights back by having celebrities try it out, and then word gets out through social media that big stars are playing it, and soon afterwards the download numbers take off to the point where they overtook Dragon Bank's game. This goes to show that these kinds of battles are a marathon, not a sprint, and while Dragon Bank has all the marketing power to go after them, there's the word-of-mouth aspect that really came through to get everybody playing the better game in the end.

Episode 19 Trillion Game made 5 billion yen in revenue and has since overtaken Dragon Bank's ripoff version of the game. While they raked in the dough, unfortunately there was a ton of overhead costs that needed to be paid for. Even so, they still made a lot of money and are well-positioned in their next project to the point where they grew their staff. In the meantime, Gaku got evicted from his apartment having forgotten to pay up his rent, and for now is sleeping at the company office. So while things are going well, reality is about to set in that such success is unsustainable unless they adapt.

Episode 20 Turns out the episode title is a little bit misleading as I thought it meant that there's a target on Trillion Game's back. But the price refers to Gaku's relationships. He goes to a class reunion as the homeroom teacher is retiring. He didn't have many friends in high school, which was reason for him to just skip it seeing that he barely knows anybody, but he does have a close friend he hasn't met in quite a long time in Momose. She's now working for an insurance company and is playing his company's game, while also meeting the guys who bullied him. While Gaku is not a big spender, he has to indulge once in awhile, though he is taking a cautious approach to when he's fine with indulging. And then there's Momose as that while flute ploy was a lie. Gaku was a wreck there, but at the very least he made the right decision to attend the reunion seeing that he will need to continue to find ways to get out of his comfort zone to find an even better one at that.

Episode 21 And now, the company has come to a giant crossroads as Haru drives Gaku and Kedoin in Sakura's recently purchased luxury convertible to a high-stakes negotiation with Dragon Bank. It turns out that most of the new employees for the Trillion Game division are former Dragon Bank employees who were recommended by Kirihime as while she's a lady whose selfishness rivals only Haru's, she wants to do things fair and square, and among those things is to let the developers reach their potential rather than to be burdened by the profit motive. So it's off to not Dragon Bank's HQ, but to the CEO's mansion where the CEO presents an offer that's just too good to pass up as he agrees to buy up all of Trillion Game's stocks for 35 billion yen. On top of that, he wants Haru to marry Kirihime, but Haru is against marrying her, using the excuse that he's already married. So with this gigantic offer on the table, the company employees need to think about the offer. In the meantime, Haru takes everybody on a trip to Las Vegas, flying first class and getting a limo ride to the Strip. I wonder what Haru has up his sleeve seeing that after all, whatever happens in Vegas will say a lot.

Episode 22 Haru and company are making a trip to Vegas to think long and hard about what they value the most as they think about Dragon Bank's offer. So after arriving in Vegas in luxury, Haru puts in a 3 billion yen advance in order to get the perks and comps with being a high roller as the gang get a luxury suite at the Bellagio. Then they go and gamble, and while everybody else is not spending as much on gambling, Gaku gets lucky when the roulette spin goes his way after betting $500 by accident when he meant to bet only $5. While he could very well just quit while he was ahead there, he decides to keep going and go all-in with his winnings. In the end, they lost that bet and ended up flying back on economy, but they found their answer there just as Haru planned it. So after all that, Haru formally declines the offer, thus declaring war on Dragon Bank, and Haru aims to absorb Dragon Bank by becoming the majority shareholder. In order to do that, they need money and public sentiment, the latter is especially important seeing that they are relatively unknown. For that, Haru plans to start the company's own online streaming network to spread the word to garner the sentiment they need. They are taking quite a big gamble there when they would have been set for life had they just taken the offer, but their selfish personas just won't let them just quit while they're ahead.

Episode 23 Having declared war on Dragon Bank, Haru makes the first move by setting up a streaming network was a way to gain public sentiment. Things are going well at first, but then everything changes when Dragon Bank buys out the streaming giant D-Rex with Kirihime installed as the company's new president. She then uses Dragon Bank's enormous fortune to become a shareholder with all terrestrial networks so that all of their content can be streamed on D-Rex, leaving Trillion TV in the dust. While that would cripple just about any competitor, Haru has a brilliant scheme cooked up as he decides to dedicate his network to the one thing that's watched by everyone, and that is news. Selfishness knows no bounds as everybody is going all-out with this as no matter what Trillion Game does, Dragon Bank will use its excess of resources to make sure they fail.

Episode 24 While Kirihime bought up a piece of ever terrestrial network to essentially give D-Rex a monopoly in streaming in Japan, there's one station she overlooked, and Haru knows how to turn that station Kirihime overlooked into the key to toppling Dragon Bank and D-Rex. Tokyo Kawara TV, which is an obvious reference to TV Tokyo, is a TV network that is great at news, but terrible at everything else, and among the news reporters is an up-and-comer in Akari. With Haru's help, he shows that he can make TKT's news reporting cutting edge, such as that breaking story regarding a downed tree on train tracks where while everybody else showed just the down tree, TKT actually shot the more important immediate matter with the stranded passengers. And then Haru uses persuasion once again seeing that Akari's desire is to report totally unbiased news as opposed to just reporting on what's profitable and operating like Fox News does, with the hope that they stand out for all the right reasons, and by using the Trillion TV platform it gets out to everybody on social media. So with that, it's all up to the company president to decide if he wants to sign that contract or not as for TKT, it's a risky bet, and Haru did all he could to convince him to sign it. Now let's see if that's what he does.

| Episode 25 As it turns out, Haru was after the revenue from big ads, and elevating Kawara TV's profile is a big part of the plan, yet another by-product of Haru's sensibly selfish nature. So the deal is secured to form Trillion News, and Akari overheard the conversation with Kunugi. But they run into a problem with one of their sponsors, a company that made a smartphone that's does what a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 used to do, is threatening to withdraw the funding for Trillion News if word gets out about the fire risk the smartphone poses. It's up to Akari to decide what she reads as the top story as her pride as a newscaster is at stake, but maintaining her pride will be a big financial loser for the company. One more episode to go, which also airs today. Episode 26 (Finale) In the end, Akari goes the safe route by reporting the kittens as the top story rather than Mithril's exploding smartphone. That turned out to be the right move as the exploding smartphone news would become breaking news for another day, but with the reporting done on Aragane's terms that doesn't damage their relationship. But to get them to do so, Haru had set up a trap at a restaurant where there are apparently a couple of guys recording their conversation in secrecy, but it turned out to be just a bluff as it was actually Haru recording the message on Akari's replacement smartphone and there was nobody listening in. In the end, Aragane decides that products and customers come first and agreed to let the news come out with Trillion TV breaking it, which worked out well for everybody. And that story instantly sent Trillion TV's viewership, and putting them over the top is the massive typhoon that came in to cause a citywide blackout, but Trillion TV had plenty of backup generators so that the news could continue to roll out seeing that it's streaming only, while the other terrestrial networks couldn't do anything. And with that, Trillion Game has become a company that can compete with the likes of Dragon Bank, and they are looking to take on America next as it ends with Gaku meeting up with Haru again in New York. A satisfying way to end this to say the least going to show that Haru knows how to make miracles happen with his selfishness, and Gaku can be counted on to do the right thing. Final Thoughts Pretty much, this show is all about drama, and this show does an excellent job at that. The show has a good premise and great story writing as the drama is what carries this show more than anything. The characters are an interesting bunch, while the show does some pretty remarkable things to make the show go. That said, this show has a number of issues, the biggest one coming down to taste as it has some of the ugliest character designs out there, though to be fair it's in-line with the mangaka's art style. Among the other major issues this show has is the plot construction and storytelling as it relies a lot on convenience, all while it jumps from place to place without doing a good enough job tying everything together. So in all, it's drama gold and a story with interesting characters and amusing antics, but the plot and storytelling could have been better, all while the animation just isn't going to appeal to a lot of viewers with the ugly character designs and all.
