Episode 1

LLENN is back on the battlefield with her trusty gaming friends after the second Squad Jam in which LLENN defeated Pitohui to take second place in the event, and then met Pito IRL. So in the meantime, everybody is preparing for the next Squad Jam taking place three months later that will have special rules that won't be revealed until the day of the event. Last time, it was just LLENN and Fukaziroh, but this time Pito and M join to form a team of four, with LLENN out to defeat the Amazons. Pretty much, it's all setup here for the third Squad Jam, and LLENN and Fukaziroh have a pretty amusing conversation in the waiting room, but in any case the show continues to be carried by the great cast of characters here. This time, they are going for the win seeing that last time LLENN and Pitohui took each other out essentially as while LLENN won that battle, she was just a sitting duck for the champion. Can't wait to see how the little pink devil and her teammates approach this Squad Jam.

It's back to the battlefield for the third Squad Jam, and this time LLENN and Pitohui are on the same team. LLENN hopes to take out Team SHINC this time, but there are going to be some new rules that will take effect once enough teams are eliminated. And it seems one of the other teams got a covert message before the event started, so what is that all about?

I need to watch season 1 before this one...wasn't season 1 only on Netflix? I know there was some reason I didn't watch the first season when it first streamed.

No, it was on CR. I kind of liked it. Down for this one as well. At least A-1 guarantees the production values will be pretty good.

The first season was pretty good, despite the fact that we were just watching people play a computer game. So I'll keep watching. The action and animation are great, and the characters are fun.

That was an, um, inspiring pep talk. XD

The ED animation is such a contrast with the setting. Feels like it should be in a Magical Girl series and with that suit-up sequence they were certainly leaning in that direction.

I'm lookin forward to some good, silly fun.

I be down for some moar gun porn. Love it when they start dwelling on weapon characteristics. Though they may be pushing the capabilities into fantasy a bit this season, what with those plasma grenades.

I know why Karen chose her tiny avatar. What I've forgotten is why more players aren't using small avatars as well since her main schtick is being OP fast and hard to hit.

@Domvina Outside the fiction, so the MC can continue to stand out. Inside, I can't remember either if they even addressed it, it's clearly an exploit to have a smaller hitbox.

Was surprised how much of this I remembered, and the first episode did a great job reintroducing everyone.

@marklebid From a story perspective I figure since the military guys use it as training they'd want normal avatars. And I guess the Amazons wanna be big and buff. Also thinking Pito is kinda the reverse of Karen wanting to be tall and less childlike. But I'd think given how MMOs are ruled by "optimization" there'd be a number of tiny avatar players copying Karen's build as background characters. (Would have been funny if there was a LLENN fan club filled with players using small avatars.)

Episode 2

It's time for SJ3, this time with a four-player team. The special rule this time around is that island is sinking the combatants are on is sinking and everybody will need to make their way to the black box in the center of the map to stay safe. After the first scan, LLENN and company happen to be close to two teams who have joined forces to take them out. As LLENN's small size makes her hard to hit, she's sent to engage with the gunners while her teammates prepare the freight train car to hide in, and then shoot the enemy from the holes Pitohui made with her lightsaber for the team to shoot through seeing that the enemy can't see them, but they see the enemy. And then another alliance of teams attacks by firing a grenade aimed at the freight train, but Pitohui intercepts it and figuring out where the grenade was fired from, Fukaziroh wipes out most of the enemy with her grenades. That was quite the clever strategy there, hiding in the freight car, but now they need to move on since the sea is rising.

The battlefield's sinking, and LLENN's team have to go through a railroad yard, with a whole mess of other teams ganging up on them. They hide in a freight car and shoot the other players through holes that Pitohui made. Then Pitohui shoots a grenade someone launches at them, and Fukaziroh fires some grenades of her own. But the wild defense won't last forever, as the ocean is already encroaching on the railroad yard.

Episode 3

With the ocean level quickly rising, M comes up with a plan of escape to blast right through the blockade seeing that's their best chance at survival. But everything changes when a familiar foe returns and Clarence betrays her teammates, all while she's attacked by the sniper Shirley. While fighting each other, the rest of the allied team gets taken out by those two. It turns out Shirley went with a strategy to spread out, while Shirley goes after the strong competitors by herself. Then Shirley and Clarence engage with each other and while Shirley defeated Clarence, she had a suicide attack prepared to take Shirley down with her with that grenade. With Shirley defeated, the rest of her team falls apart and surrenders. I remember quite well just how much of a psycho Clarence is, all while Shirley and Pitohui have a big rivalry going on. Next time, it's going to focus on SHINC and MMTM, all while the special rule is about to be announced.

LLENN's team caught a lucky break on heading to higher ground when some subterfuge came into play. First, Clarence scattered the allied team so she could shoot them in the back one by one, and then Shirley came to take advantage of the confusion herself. In the end, the two took each other out, and the rest of Shirley's team comes apart at the seams.

Episode 4

Taking advantage of the situation where Clarence and Shirley took each other out, LLENN and company can just cruise right through on the truck and into the grassland. Meanwhile, Team SHINC is making things look really easy, easily gunning down a squad of photon rifle users, all while Team Momentum Mori uses the forest terrain to their advantage to launch a surprise attack, and Team ZEMAL uses assault weapons to take out their targets. And the winner of the last Squad Jamm, T-S, is hanging out on the top of a tall building. Now that enough teams are eliminated, the special rule is revealed, and one member will be chosen from each team to form a team of traitors, and for LLENN's team that is Pitohui. Seeing that they battled before as enemies that I knew it was going to be her selected to become the traitor. No wonder why the admins kept the special rule a closely-guarded secret until the time is right.

SHINC took the initiative before the first scan even happened, and used the enemy's signal flares to draw more fodder in. MMTM ambushed teams in a dense forest, and ZEMAL outfitted some shopping carts to use as makeshift mobile turrets. But now one member of each remaining team has been selected to form a completely new team to fight against them all, and Pitohui has been chosen from LLENN's group.

It's an interesting choice to break up the remaining teams, but with seven teams remaining won't that make the BTRY team the largest?

I wonder what sort of controls the organizers will add to prevent friendly fire kills? (Or is that a default in the game?) Though I suppose a simple "if you kill a member of BTRY your original team is disqualified" would be enough. Unless their team gets wiped out. No, the organizers would have to do something to keep BTRY members from betraying their new team. Never underestimate sweaty players and these are some the sweatiest. =P

Episode 5

With that special rule, Team Betrayers has been formed with Pitohui, Eva from Team SHINC, David from Team MMTM, Tomtom from Team ZEMAL, Elvin from Team T-S, and the last man standing on his team Cole having been chosen by the admins to be the team's betrayer. The six are transported to the cruise ship that will soon be the only safe spot on the map, and they get acquainted with each other as they plan their attack. As the remaining teams look see who attacks first, Team BTRY makes the first move by dropping the yellow lifeboats to block all the entrances into the ship on the ground level. Pretty much, this episode is all about building this new team as everybody intends to hold nothing back per the rules of this event.

Eva from SHINC was chosen for the Betrayers Team, so LLENN can at least still have solace in facing her once her team gets on the derelict cruise ship at the center of the island. The ship's location makes sense, given that the whole field is still flooding. But the new team, BTRY, makes the first move by dropping all the lifeboats to block all the holes leading into the ship.

Episode 6

With all the entrances to the ship blocked, that gives BTRY the high ground advantage. Cole is the first member of BTRY to be killed with a shot fired by SHINC, while Tomtom is gunned down by his former team. ZEMAL decides to go out with a bang killing each other after taking out Tomtom seeing that they already accomplished what they set out to do and just want to go out having fun. While LLENN and Fukaziroh make it into the ship, M looks like he's going to drown seeing that he's a slow man, but thanks to the a couple of grenade blasts, he uses the recoil from the blasts to make it to the ship. With all remaining teams on-board, the scan comes and it just so happens that LLENN's team is nearby SHINC, and they attack. Fukaziroh fires the wrong grenade, leaving only Tanya left, and she has M strangled by the neck with LLENN unable to fire fearing that she's hit M instead. Just when it looked like things were going well, all of the sudden the team is in a tight spot.

Cole got killed before he had a chance to betray the betrayers, and ZEMAL goes out killing each other. M gets thrust to the ship thanks to the recoil from a couple of Fukaziroh's grenades. Everyone's on board, but SHINC and LLENN's team are on opposite sides of a hallway. Now M's being choked by the strap on Tanya's gun after Fukaziroh fires the wrong grenade by mistake, taking out all of Tanya's comrades in the process. And Pitohui is steering the ship towards the team that's stranded on the tower, but I have a feeling she just wants to pick them off once they're in range.

You'd think it would occur to M to simply fall forward so Tanya on his back is exposed to his teammates' fire.

And MY bet is that Pitohui will ram that ship right into the building. Just seems like her style.

I am losing interest in this series and thinking of dropping it. It gets sillier and sillier and makes zero sense and full of psychopaths. The MG team killed themselves because they were bored and it was "objective completed"? Give me a freaking break. And the person(s) who designed this game are all psychopaths as well. This is the only show I watch on Friday, but I don't need all this stupidity. LLENN was supposed to be this quick and fast thinking character, but she can't even to think to shoot the other girl in her exposed knees? She would definitely let go with wounds like that. Oh well, I'll go cool off now.

Episode 7

M manages to break free of Tanya's choke hold and she blows herself up with a grenade she was going to chuck at LLENN. Meanwhile, Pitohui eliminates MMTM after they fell into her trap where she uses the sprinklers and electrocutes them. Then the ship rams into the building T-S had been hiding on top of to eliminate them, leaving just LPFM and BTRY left. Then Pitohui kills Elvin after pretending to be dead before using her lightsaber to impale him. Then Pitohui defeats David in a lightsaber battle leaving only Team LPFM, Pitohui, and Eva left. And then Pitohui returns to the team as it turns out that it was actually LLENN who was chosen as the betrayer and not Pitohui. She somehow swapped message communicators so that LLENN never got the message that she was chosen. So with that, it's down to the final showdown as it's LLENN and Eva against Pitohui, Fukaziroh, and M as Pitohui used this ruse to gun down the competition.

M got out of that tight spot, and Tanya ends up becoming a casualty of friendly fire as she fails to throw her grenade before she falls. Pitohui electrocutes MMTM, then she has the ship ram into the building Elvin's team is on before taking out both Elvin and David.

But it turns out that LLENN was the person actually chosen for the betrayers' team, meaning she and Eva are actually on the same side. Plus, Pitohui's mental capacity isn't at full strength, due to her evidently using a NerveGear instead of an AmuSphere, so there might be a chance for LLENN to come out on top.

She didn't even have to shoot her in the knees. It was taking so long to strangle M LLENN could have sauntered around to his side and shot her in the head. XD

If the SJ3 ends next episode I wonder what they plan to do with the remaining episodes?

Episode 8

It's time for the final showdown as after Pitohui's stunt, it's LLENN and Eve against Pitohui, Fukaziroh, and M with the dilapidated cruise ship about to sink. So LLENN's strategy is to split up, then use Eva's grenades to split the ship just like the Titanic. And then in the courtyard LLENN and Fukaziroh fight each other with LLENN kicking the grenade into the air that would have otherwise finished her off before Pitohui intervenes. Then LLENN and Pitohui have their long-awaited showdown, while Fukaziroh and Eva take each other out. LLENN thought she had Pitohui finished having the high ground advantage, but Pitohui used her knives to climb up and knock LLENN's gun into the sea. Then an intense sword battle ensues, but Eva's knife that she gave to LLENN saves the day, and then Pitohui is shoved into the sea. But before LLENN claims victory, there's still M left to deal with, but he admits defeat to LLENN in the process. So with that, Squad Jam 3 is over and BTRY is the winner as LLENN is the last player standing. Quite a dramatic finish to this event, and this felt like the end of the season, but there's still four more episodes left and LLENN is going to get invited to do some testing.

LLENN sets the finale going by severing the cruise ship's bow. Then she and Eva split Fukaziroh and Pitohui up. Eva and Fukaziroh take each other out, and it becomes a close-quarters fight between LLENN and Pitohui, with LLENN emerging the victor again after she pushes Pitohui into the ship's propellers as it sinks. With M conceding by throwing LLENN up into the air, she and BTRY are declared the winners.

Not sure how seasoned players fall for those fake out deaths. A big red "Dead" sign pops instantly over dead players.

Watching how brutal some of these fights get I'm sure more than a few of players come away with PTSD. (Pito almost seems traumatized by how LLENN killed her in the last SJ.)

Seems we just can't escape Potato Boy in an SAO-related franchise. (That cameo felt way forced.)

Knowing how RL VR works the gear they're using in the SAO world seems more sci-fantasy than sci-fiction. Haptic feedback. No need to move your physical body. Pain. It would have to quite literally be jacked into your brain. The implications for that kind of tech are amazingly terrifying.

Episode 9

A month has passed since Squad Jam 3, and LLENN is thinking about retiring from GGO seeing that she's doesn't feel right about killing others even though it's just a game. But Fukaziroh thinks differently as they get together. And then GGO invites the top-ranking Squad Jam teams to a test play to capture a fortress guarded by an NPC. So the event begins without being told who the other participating teams are, and with some special rules where the combatants can respawn twice after dying with their respawn point being someplace as far away as the furthest team to the fortress. Pretty much, this is transition into a different kind of battle royale, and it should be interesting to see what strategy Team LPFM comes up with. And with a new arc comes a new ending.

Now it's a special invitational with the top-ranking teams to test out some new NPC AI. It's basically a game of capture-the-flag with a few twists. Players can respawn a maximum of two times before being eliminated outright, with the respawn point being as far away as the furthest team from the goal. But with none of the teams being aware of who's participating, the teams are actually free to attack each other as well. LLENN's team has come across team SHINC first, but will they collaborate with each other for the mission, or will they end up shooting each other?
