Episode 13 (Finale)
All of Natsuki's friends at school arrive at Eden, and before making any final decisions, Natsuki and company return to school to talk about it seeing that they have three days to come up with a solution before Atri's memories of Natsuki are wiped clean. So after thinking things over, Natsuki has made the decision to have Atri become Eden's admin. The night before, the students hold a "birthday" party for Atri, which doubles as a farewell party. So after taking care of some last-minute tasks, it's back to Eden for Atri to fulfill Nonko's final order with Atri kissing Natsuki before going into the capsule. And afterwards, Atri appears as an AI before Natsuki as he vows to move forward.
And after that, 70 years pass with the first Eden being retired, and in the decades since new Edens prop up and with the first Eden shut down to sustain life, Atri has fulfilled her duty, while Natsuki has become a grandfather, but due to technology he's able to look the same according to Atri rather than his actual appearance as an old man. This goes to show that time had stopped for Natsuki, but what he needed to do is to move forward as he was taken prisoner by the past and Nonko's final order was a test to move forward. He obviously made the right decision, but it wasn't an easy one. Pretty much, the ending all served a life lesson that everybody will need to move forward, but how to get to that point is different.
Final Thoughts
This show had all the makings of being epic, but in the end it's just a run-of-the-mill visual novel adaptation with greater production values. The show has a nice story, interesting characters, and some tremendous character development. But on the flipside, the story writing made the show hard to understand, all while losing focus of the big picture so often, and the silly antics were hit or miss. So in all, the show is not bad as it has the appeal factor down at the very least, but the story writing certainly could have been better.
