o_0 What the heck was that? Sometimes anime is just...Japan. Guess I'll stick around to see how crazy this gets.

Reindeer/Caribou are the only deer species where the females have antlers (minus some sort of mutation)

If the chanting and CG(?) deer weren't obvious enough these are Sika (Shika in the Japanese pronunciation) Deer (Cervus nippon). I'm also guessing this is in Nara, where the people feed the deer with crackers.

Then proceed to be bowled over, have all their crackers stolen, licked to tears and shat on.

Episode 1

Watching this show, I can't help but to think of that famous scene in Nichijou when the principal wrestled a deer, and Torako might end up having to do that seeing that her delinquent past that she wants to keep under wraps is about to be exposed by Nokotan, who somehow knows a thing or two about her. Pretty crazy stuff, and this show totally lost it when Nokotan's antlers scrape the doorway causing the debris to fall out in slowmo. So through all this, Torako is roped into joining the newly-formed deer club.

Shitpost the anime.

Also, I was wondering why the subs were bad and unfortunately they were AI translated and provided by the Japanese licensor Remow. The same shitty AI translated subs are also on Remow's official Youtube episode page.

Hopefully CR can negotiate with Remow so that they can provide their own human subs.

The subtitles seemed fine to me. That's shockingly good for AI. Maybe it was partly done with AI and a human cleaned them up. Tons of context was understood and translated.

I can believe it's not CR because of the repeating letters for stress. They don't tend to do that.

The first episode of "Yuzuki Family's Four Sons" was so obviously AI translated, it was a disaster. I didn't see a problem with these subs though.

The show was something else though....It's basically like Aho-girl

Episode 2

That utopia was short-lived. Going after a deer cracker like the deer she is, Nokotan gets captured, and Torako's little sister Anko drops by. Then it turns into a game show to see who knows Torako better. Of course, Torako would be up in arms about it because her privacy is being invaded, and Anko took out her anger on Torako, and ends up hitting Nokotan instead. Of course, Nokotan isn't dead yet, so she's not being allowed to live with the deer god. Things are once again being blown totally out of proportion.

I'm not sure if I was actually laughing or just giggling dumfoundedly, but I considered it worth the 23 minutes.

Episode 3

Nokotan now has a robotic suit of deer armor, or so Koshitan thinks as that's just an ordinary deer that escaped the zoo. Koshitan's attempt to turn the deer back to Nokotan using that water bottle circle was pretty funny. And then with spring coming, the new school year begins with Anko becoming a freshman at the school allowing her to join the club, and Bashame joins the club after she was found sleeping in front of the clubroom. It turns out that Bashame was saved by Nokotan once when she was on the verge of starvation. So with that, the Deer Club now has four members, but Koshitan is the only one putting any work into it. Bashame surely does love Nokotan there as the weirdos just keep on coming.

I thought this was a downgrade in humor. Usually new characters multiply things.

The sketches were too long individually.

Not as bizaare as Asobi Asobase, and not even close to being as humorously weird as Azumanga Daioh.

It's similar to Four People and Their Respective Lies but less consistent with the gimmick; the concept is already beginning to slip and becoming simply a CDGCT, just 3 episodes in. I still like it though. I appreciate the editing and dialogue-delivery approach. But the humor definitely became basically just cutesy stuff way too soon.

I'll make it my pastime show.

Episode 4

While the Deer Club is now an official club, the student council is looking to shut it down as Tsubame, Neko, and Tanuki are none too pleased with Koshitan leading these wackos. And for Koshitan, that means her delinquent past getting outed. But it turns out that Tsubame is a big fan of Nokotan's. Then after seeing it happening in Too Many Losing Heroines, the whole locked in the gym shed trope happens again as that's what happens when Tanuki asks Koshitan for a favor, only for that to happen. Nokotan eventually comes get them, but not without problems as she's fantasizing while passing through. It turns out she was growing mushrooms inside the vaulting box that everybody eats as Tanuki and Tsubame have joined the club, all while poor Neko is left all alone. This goes to show that not even the student council can resist Nokotan.

Episode 5

And now, a three-parter as the first part is about Koshitan getting a letter from a group of delinquents, and during the fight Nokotan's antlers are used as a weapon that causes an explosion to send everything flying. Second part has Koshitan spying on Nokotan to see what weakness she has, and sees that she lives in a zoo. Then in the final story, Neko tries to break up the Deer Club again, but she instead joins it to find out who is in charge of the club, and can't find any weaknesses. More crazy stuff once again going to show just how unpredictable Nokotan is.

I had fallen behind on this show and only recently binged through it. Pretty much, it's more random and crazy antics that leads to the penultimate episode.

Episode 11

Seeing that deer meat is quite a delicacy that it was inevitable that somebody would come down to make venison out of Nokotan, and a hunter comes down to try and hunt this deer, but he failed to realized that carrying guns on school grounds is a crime, and as such off to jail he goes. And then Nokotan uses her antlers as a perch, and with her uniform in the cleaners, comes in wearing a torn-up tracksuit that's all patched up. But unexpectedly, she goes missing there at the end. A rather serious ending there given everything that has happened.

Episode 12 (Finale)

Well, that was a fakeout there as just when it appeared that it was all doom and gloom that was coming for Nokoton, she's back and interacting with others again. But she's not exactly in the clear just yet as she belongs to an organization she ran away from, and those guys coming for her challenge her to a wrestling match against Sento-kun, the strongest of the Murdeerers, where losing means it's back to the Deer Hole for her. So after some extensive training, it's onto the match, and things get quite crazy there as is usually the case when she's involved. While Sento-kun was strong, Nokotan got creative and won on a technicality that allows her to remain in the deer club. Pretty wild way to end this just when it looked like it was going to end on a serious note.

Final Thoughts

This show does a great job with the humor and animation as Wit continues to put in great artwork, all while the characters are quite the handful to deal with. While the show does a nice job with the over-the-top humor, at the same time, the joke selection and assortment just feels way too repetitive, and the comedy became less funny as the show progressed. And while comedy is the main focal point of this show, there should have been more of a story as well. In all, the comedy, characters, and animation are great, but the assortment of jokes and stuff just feel too repetitive.
