Part 2 of this season is coming this spring. It was announced as a split-cour show, but this show ran into production issues that caused its broadcast to be suspended halfway through the first part and restarted in the summer with no announcement of when the second half was coming.

| The second half is starting this Friday. While the show started winter a year ago, it has encountered a number of delays. But now it's ready and hopefully the downtime will be enough to make this half at least a little bit better than the first half of this season. |
| So...here's hoping part 2 isn't as much of a rushed, convoluted mess as part 1. |
| Episode 13 Where things left off, Anos smoked out the fake Demon King of Tyranny Avos, who is Misa's alter-ego, and after dealing with her, she brought Misa back to life to just be Misa. With Anos now revealed as the Demon King of Tyranny that he's laying low as he stays away from the academy to not cause a ruckus, but he has a way around it by going to school as Anosh, all while Shin becomes a new teacher at the academy. And then Anosh is brought to make a contract with the dragon to use against the demon king's army not realizing that he actually brought Anos himself. And then Emilia comes in asking Anos to help reinstate her as a teacher at the Demon King Academy, and while she's a teacher again, she's doing so at the Hero Academy. Not sure what is going to happen this time, but Anos is back to his usual tricks once again. |
| Where were we? Oh, right, I remember, I couldn't figure out what was going on. Well, it's good to see that hasn't changed. And so Anos' wacky adventures continue. It seems strange that there are some people who still haven't figured out that Anos really is the demon king. Anos correcting them has been a running gag throughout the series. It's good to see they're putting the arena to good use, doing some... random fighting stuff. And there were ominous things happening here and there during the episode, some of which may continue to be ominous in the future. |
| Episode 14 Just as Emilia begins her tenure teaching at the hero academy, the demons and heroes come together again after dragons, believed to be extinct, were spotted. Things get pretty heated at the assembly when the hero academy headmaster Zamira has come in and orders everybody to subdue the dragons, which is supposed to be the job of the military and a de facto death sentence to these students since they lack combat experience. And after that, Anos and. his close friends head out to the lake for a day at the beach. Then Anos meets Ahide, the cardinal of Giordal, who summons Arcana, the goddess of selection, and they battle each other. As strong as the god Arcana is, she didn't stand a chance against Anos. Arcana then explains the selection process in that the gods select eight humans as god candidates, and Anos is one of them and they will battle it out until one remains to become a proxy for the gods. It didn't take long for the situation to get out of hand as now, Anos will have to get to the bottom of this selection process to make sense of everything. |
| Episode 15 Just leave the dragons to Anos and everything would work itself out. It turns out that Anos was following the dragon to the underground where the selection trials were happening. His first match is against Gazel, and while Gazel was a tough foe, his power is nothing compared to Anos, and even having his own goddess in Nutra didn't help. The stakes are really high, but it looks like Anos will just be able to breeze through this if candidates like Gazel are pushovers for him. |
| Well, this cours doesn't make any more sense than the last cours. Such a shame, season 1 was really fun. |

| Episode 16 Emilia is finding out just how difficult teaching at the hero academy is. And while that's going on, Lay and Misa head into the tomb of the royal family, and they get tricked by the king into opening the coffin that unleashes a dragon the king had been keeping as a pet. That king is such a sicko as he fed his own children to the dragon, and he uses his god-given powers to force Misa to strangle Lay. And then a dragon attacks, and Emilia decides to sacrifice herself to kill it, but the students weren't going to let her die. She slices and dices that beast from within its belly, and then the students get her out. This goes to show the kinds of bonds these characters have, both good and bad. |
| Unless the LNs were this poorly written, they must be skipping all kinds of content, it just feels like some sort of really poorly directed recap show |
| The scene at the end with Emilia and the students would have been a bit more moving if I cared about any of them. The cast is a bit too large. I have a hard time remembering who everybody is. The CGI dragons were too uncanny valley for me. They didn't mix well at all with the environment. |

| Episode 17 And now, there are three battles going on as there's Emilia, Zeshia, and the Hero Academy students battling the dragons and holding their own thanks to the powers Anos bestowed on them, there's Anos up against Ahide as he's out to snuff out a rebellion before it starts, and then there's Lay and Misa against Lycius, the king of Azeshion. Emilia has really been on top of things in this battle, but these dragons are quite tough. Then Anos heads out to take down Ahide as he is well aware of his scheme to invade Midhaze while Anos and company were in Azeshion, but Anos already knew and nothing gets past him, knowing right away that the divine message was a lie. And then Avos is back as now Misa has control of her alter-ego after Lay confesses his love for Avos, and together they fight the boss dragon that Lycius sacrificed himself to summon. Lots of things going on here as the war rages on. |
| Episode 18 And now, Ahide has really gotten serious as he calls Arcana after she is defeated by Shin, and Ahide is pulling out all the tricks there, going as far as to rip the heart out of Anos. But of course, Anos has a nasty surprise as his heart is actually the Sword of the Almighty, which will kill anybody who draws it. Or rather, that's what he makes Ahide believe as that sword was actually a fake. And then Anos slashes Ahide so fast that he thinks he did it without unsheathing it. After defeating Ahide, Anos is chosen by Arcana to be the proxy, but Anos has no intention of becoming a god and instead asks Arcana to be his god and to uproot the entire Judgment Selection process. And thus, this conflict is resolved as Zamira is arrested for masterminding this whole mess having conspired with Ahide and using that ring to control King Lysius to awaken the dragons, and having gained the respect of her students, Emilia is the new headmaster at the Hero Academy. Once again, Anos does what he does best not only overpowering his enemy, but toying with them as well. |

| Episode 19 A new arc begins as Anos has a brand new ally in Arcana, Misha and Sasha can merge to form Aisha as she is names, and Anos is now a substitute teacher at the academy as he whips up his descendants into shape seeing how weak they have gotten over the generations. While they undergo intense training, that's nothing compared to what Anos has in store for Lay and Misa as he has Shin fighting them, and they need to tap into their love to fight back. Pretty much it's a transitional episode here as Anos is back and in charge once again. |
| The "Love Fighting" bit was a bit, well, stupid. I guess "Love Conquers All" in this anime. |

| Episode 20 It's off to Giordal as Anos brings in Naya to form a contract with a dragon familiar, and with that she can summon gods to her side. Erdomaid tags along and transforms into the Blaze Death King. And then Anos takes Arcana and the Necrons to a cabin where they fall asleep and have the same dream of Anosh being beside Arcana. And then comes the festival of Sojourner's Psalm, but that gets interrupted as Ahide, who Anos pounded into submission in the previous arc, is back and is out to let those worshippers know that God doesn't exist. Not much happens here, but the ending is definitely something to stir things up. |
| Episode 21 It has been awhile since the Anos fangirls performed as the lasts time they did was towards the end of the first season, and even Giordal's ruler Dietrich is loving their idol performance. But they take the stage as the Dilhade Demon King Choir thanks to Ahide's schemes. This episode goes to show just how pathetic of a guy Ahide is as Dietrich knows very well just how much of a disgrace this guy is to Giordal. Dietrich saw Anos coming from a prophecy, and after seeing just how strong Anos is easily dealing with Naphta, they negotiate and given the situation Dilhade will need to rule over Giordal to make things work. And thus, they have a conflict of interest, but at the very least unlike with Ahide, Dietrich is a reasonable guy. |

| Episode 22 The Anos fangirls put their singing powers to good use as with that the gospel Golroana didn't stand a chance. And afterwards, after Anos and Arcana strip in front of the girls, they connect with a common dram, and head to confront Liebarschend, the God of Vestiges, all while dealing with two of the four evil kings. And then Anos meets none other than his father Ceris Voldigold. Lots of stuff happening, but that encounter there at the end ought to be something. |

| Episode 23 No wonder why Anos doesn't remember his father as his memories were tampered with. So to recover his memory gaps, he goes to bed with Arcana and in their dreams they make a promise to each other and apparently Arcana is his younger sister. And then Ceris reveals that Arcana's real name is Genedonov, the Goddess of Absurdity. So Ceris decides that he wants to work together, but instead of desiring the peace that Anos wants, Ceris decides to destroy Jiordal. One more episode left and it will air three weeks from today. |
| Episode 24 (Finale) To end this season, it's a showdown of ideals as Anos wants gradual change through open engagement while Golroana wants to be completely cut off from others. Golroana reveals that Arcana lied to Anos and that he never had a stepsister named Arcana. Even though Arcana, or Genedonov, was lying, Anos still wants Arcana as his sister. And just like that boosted by the Goddess of Absurdity, 1500 years of prayers are gone in a single strike, and Anos leaves with a parting message to Golroana that he can still save the underground, but there's a much better way to do it than to just remain in isolation that the 1500 years of prayers were designed to do. And with that, a good 19 months after this season started, it's finally over. Final Thoughts This season's production was just a mess as it had no business airing as soon as it did, and even after having a long break between cours it still couldn't get finished on time. Much of the charm that made the first season great is missing this season. The story writing was off the mark as it is so fragmented and hard to follow that made it a chore to watch. And the other major issue is the introduction of too many characters all at once that it's hard to keep track of everybody. The show still retains some great qualities from the first season in that it does a great job building up the characters (none more so than Emilia), and while it's great to see Anos going OP, the season at least had good intentions not relying on that so much. But in the end, the execution was just not up to snuff as even with so much time to get it right, it just feels like a rushed production. Grade: C- (6/10) |
