Plot Summary The hero of Tensei shitara Ken deshita differs from your standard otherworldly protagonist in that he is reincarnated as a sword! Beginning his quest by spawning in the middle of a beast-ridden forest, he encounters an injured girl frantically fleeing for her life. Saving her from her assailants, the pair acquaint themselves, and the girl introduces herself as Fran. She bears a heavy past, having endured the enslavement and maltreatment of her tribe, the Black Cats. As the hero is unable to remember the name from his past life, the young and tenacious Fran bestows him the name "Shishou" and becomes his wielder. Thereafter, Shishou and Fran become a formidable team, embarking on quests to liberate the oppressed and exact justice! |

So far, this show has been alright and while it doesn't exactly wow me over, it's still entertaining to watch. Whether or not that will be enough for me to add this to my growing season watchlist remains to be seen. But in any case, it's making its case. Having the MC isekaied to be a weapon rather than an OP adventurer is certainly a breath of fresh air. Episode 4 And Fran makes quick work of those goblins as thanks to all the high-quality equipment crafted by Garrus, she made all this look easy. And he even had a specially-made scabbard in which Sword-kun can act on his own when the situation calls for it. So it turns out that there are gods that make the world what it is and that the Goddess of Chaos is the one who is bringing challenges to the world as a way to keep the world from stagnating. But then there's the God of War that created those monsters and is an evil guy who had to be slain. So with that the goblin raid continues. While I'm not sure if I'll keep on watching this to the end, I'll at least see this goblin raid to the end before deciding for sure where I want to go with this. |

I felt like this was one of the season’s weakest premieres with the first ep largely just being Shisho monologuing & not having the personality of Kumoko, Rimuru or Arc to pull it off. But it’s been steadily improving. Fran is adorable but still rivals a certain helmeted protagonist for being goblins’ worst nightmare (that scene of her standing atop a pile of corpses was 😮) Nell & Donadrond are both fun supporting characters. And the latest ep showed the potential for above average world building. Shisho remains the weakest aspect as we have nothing on his pre-isekai life or personality, but as noted in the CR thread is growing into his role as Fran’s guardian, mentor & father figure. |

That was pretty cute when Fran got upset after he accidentally killed the goblin king and queen. Pretty good fight with the demon guy, usually these tyoe of shows don't put much thought into the fights since the MC is usually OP. I knew it was foing to be serious when he went all Count Dooku on Fran's hands, ouch. Poor Fran. |

Dang, that episode went by fast. The action scenes in this show really put most other fantasy shows, let alone isekias, to shame. Dungeon master has d4 hit dice confirmed. |

Yes, that was clearly a crit and great swords do 2d6 slashing base. So 4d6 on a crit. Even if he had the max 4 HP it would have killed him no matter how low the dice rolled. This is why you don't use Con as a dump stat. |

This series is consistently better than the premise makes it out to be. Fran and the other characters are what's really making the show. Teacher is okay, but he's just standard OP isekai. |

As he explored his surrounding after first awakening he did so in a slow and methodical way, avoiding taking unnecessary risks, so he was probably older and "conservative" in his choices. He didn't want to take a bath with Fran and absolutely insisted she buy underwear so he likely wasn't a lecher. (Would be an interesting turn if he had been a father in his former life and had carried over those parental sensibilities.) He doesn't run from a battle even when facing a powerful opponent so likely wasn't a coward. However, if facing an overwhelmingly strong foe he will retreat if possible so he wasn't cockily brazen. It's true we aren't getting any direct answers, but clues are being sprinkled about the kind of person Teacher was in his former life. |

I can't believe I didn't realize until today that the OP is by Kishida Kyoudan & The Akeboshi Rockets. No wonder I like it so much. They did the OP to High School of the Dead which is in my top ten OP songs. |

Thought this was an ep of Food Wars, with Frans foodgasms over curry (the mature Frans were cute too), did make me hungry though. Ha fat loser, such a great power to steal powers. More fat bastard characters need a dose of that medicine. Continues to be one of the more enjoyable shows of the season. |

There is a streaming service in Japan streaming it a week before it airs on terrestrial TV. So a lot of people are sailing the seas to watch a week early |

I'm sure her intentions seem good it's just the whole stalking and glomping thing. I say not a weird lolicon because she got a class title for her efforts. So she's doing something right somewhere. Although that raises the question would you get a title for being a weird lolicon too? |

It does. It's just that people don't use it for show discussion threads because it's assumed that people are up to that part. To put posts in spoilers you pretty much do exactly the same thing as Crunchyroll did, except there's no button to simply click it. Pretty much most of the old BBCode on Crunchyroll works here. Including colour changing, font size so on so forth. In the case of spoilers its [spoiler]Text Here[ /spoiler] without the space between the [/ |

This is kind of why streaming early here is kind of stupid, people will always find ways to circumvent that. |

It would be appreciated if they followed a similar form of decorum used on the CR forum to spoiler tag when they want to comment ahead of the licensed stream. It's the same sort of courtesy I think we would all expect from those familiar with the source material who want to discuss ahead of where the anime covers or who offer to provide insight into areas where the anime might not do an in-depth job explaining events. |

Yeah in retrospect, I probably should've abided by that rule when I commented on the Komi Can't Communicate adaptation with its infamous 2-3 week Netflix delay. I feel bad about that. I think I took out my frustration with Netflix on the forum by commenting on "officially" unreleased episodes, but I may have spoiled the show for some. BTW you can post an animated gif as a forum avatar over here, you just have to size it properly. I recall yours was animated over on the CR forums. |

I wasn't even aware of this issue since i only have a Crunchyroll sub, im not paying for more than 1 service. I think the main issue is the "legal streaming" being a week behind, not vice versa. |

Thank you for the spoiler tag on Ep9! Ep8 turned quite dark. I was glad Fran was given the chance to have agency in her confrontation with the Blue Cat. Curious to see where they're going with Amanda. She certainly appears to have deeper motives |

Hmmm I saw it as since she was mothering Fran he was jealous of not being able to hug her. He IS like a father to her, seems Fran now has a dad and a mom. And "boobie elf"? Since she wears a cape and doesn't exactly flaunt them (nor are they out of proportion, she's a big girl) I was wondering who you were talking about. Again nice fight choreography, not expected so much appreciated |

Hmmm, what's Fran going to do now? She's got enough levels you'd think she's have some of her own skills now. Or has all their xp basically gone into a single pool that Shisho has been in control of? That haven't really explained all the details of how that works. |

Ep9 Again I'm loving that Fran is getting do to so much without leaning on Teacher and Teacher doesn't try to interfere. That's what really made the duel with Amanda feel so intense. Even though this is technically an isekai it's doing a fairly good job of dodging the worst of the tropes and sticking mostly to a hero's journey / fantasy tale. |

Ep11 Yes! That was everything I was hoping it would be. Fran is the isekai protag I've been waiting for. But damn, that cliffhanger. The owl doesn't look like it's a hostile monster. Perhaps the entity responsible for Teacher's reincarnation is about to reveal themselves? |

So Amanda is more grandmother to Fran than mother It's neat how the sword was the isekaied person, but Fran was the actual protagonist I'm going to miss this show 8/10 for me glad we got a to be continued |
