A Romance Manga/LN with well-written protagonists and no harem?

Hi. As the title says, I'm looking for a Romance Manga/LN with well-written protagonists and no harems. What I mean by well-written is that the main character shouldn't be a wimpy, dense, and generic self-instert. Likewise, the heroine shouldn't be just a fanservice material. Also, I'd really appreciate it if they get into a relationship half-way through the Manga/LN and not in the first volume or the last one. Thanks in advance!

I don't have many recommendations with a male MC (I assume that's what you want), but there are some nice shoujo out there such as:

Kaichou wa Maid Sama
Horimiya (romcom)
Red River

Probably not what your looking for, but thought I'd through my 2 cents in.

Actually, it doesn't need to have a male MC. Already read the first two and I loved them. Red River looks pretty interseting too so I might give it a try. Thanks

one of my favorite shoujo/romance, has well-balanced & well-written comedy, good development of characters and story, FL isn't your average shoujo heroine, ML is the "looks scary but is a sweetheart" trope but actually well-presented. all the plot-holes/questions are explained over the course of the story and everything isn't just dumped in one chapter. overall very great manga (i am very biased towards this)

For LN I'm reading Kou-2 ni Time Leap Shita Ore ga, Touji Suki datta Sensei ni Kokutta Kekka

Only thing I could really say is that the heroine may not be as well written as you'd like her to be; and that it might come off as a harem but it really isn't
