You don't need to do anything except pay taxes and die but you definitely should watch the movies and OVA. They're good.

Need to? No
Should you? Yes, they carry on the tone of the anime pretty well. Don't worry about canon and not canon since the series wasn't completely canon either; it's complicated to describe this adaptation.

Well I loved all the movies, ova and the series . Just the think is in my opinion the second movie is superb but had to watch in on a website without good audio quality 😅😅

I’d say that the one on netflix are good, there’s a few moments that don’t feel like the shot but I enjoyed them. The movie that came out in 2020 was not as good. Half felt right on the money, and the other half fell short of what I expected

You dont have to since theyre side stories mostly but i highly recommend them, i prefer the movies over the series itself in all honesty.
