| When I first saw Watamote, I didn't expect to rate it, but it seems like it took a leaf out of Peep Show's book in terms of its style of cringe-comedy - it's probably the most English comedy I've seen in an anime. Really quite difficult to watch in places, although that is very much to its credit. Aku no Hana was painful to watch, too - it really encapsulated the awkwardness of adolescence in a very melodramatic way, and as well as some of the more outrageous scenarios, the protagonist's general interactions were like pulling teeth. What a series. |
