I would realy like this, and i think that alot more people would want this.
a famous website in my country called Hyves.nl also has this option, there its Profile visible to: Hyves users, everyone, friends, friends of friends.

but i would be happy enough if we could only enable: MAL users only, i heard more people about it and i think its a pretty basic option for a site like this to have, and alot of users (me too) say that they dont want some people (real life friends, school people, work people, other/whatever people) to see their mal profile.

i dont want this for some people i know either or lets say a majority of people and i know that alot more MAL users have this issue too.

Although this addition sounds like an annoyance to code, and it probably won't happen, I think it's a great idea.

It's a little Facebooky though, isn't it? I think this has been shot down before by Xinil but I'm too lazy to search.

What's the point? Anybody can get several MAL accounts. In fact, it is entirely possible of a person to have over a hundred MAL accounts in just an afternoon's time.

No point in adding a toll to the MAL server.

solution- don't direct them to your mal page

i suppose you didnt get the message, if i said that i dont want them to see it then its only normal that im not telling those people about my MAL page or MAL at all.

this would for me serve as a precaution for people who stumble up on it.

I don't see why you would browse profiles if you don't have a MAL user yourself.
Also...

People you know from real life won't know about your MAL user unless you tell them about it. In worst case you change your username.
And if they're dying to see that profile of yours, implementing this wouldn't help much since...

The only way they would be able to "stumble" upon your profile is if you're using an easily recognizable username that's been associated with you by your friends and family.
So to add onto Saitoe's solution: don't the username you normally do.

Really, despite being such a large community, MAL isn't even close to being on the first few pages of "anime" on Google. Unless you're blatantly obvious about it they probably won't find you.
