Baccano, maybe? There's gangsters in it, at the very least.

The American mafia style is severely limited tbh. The only two series I know are the aforementioned Baccano and 91 Days.

Well, there's a couple of mafia/gangster anime but, frankly, they are still gonna be 'anime' (meaning it'll have some tropes, exaggeration and in a bunch of cases supernatural or sci-fi elements) and therefore quite different from the gritty realism of a Scorsese movie. The closes't you'll get to a Scorsese film is probably other Scorsese Films.

But Baccano, 91 Days, Gangsta, Gungrave, Banana Fish, Black Lagoon or Sanctuary are all decent to good animanga that tap into the gangster and mafia milieu for their stories so they might be worth checking out for you.
I probably regret this post by now.

Yeah, there's not much tbh. Personally, I'd love to see more of Scorses's/Goodfella's kind of realism in anime, but sadly the Japanese (and international) market prefers magical super-powers, fantasy worlds and moe schoolgirls.

91 Days and Black Lagoon would probably be the closest things to what you're asking.

Or the 2012 Lupin III series is an excellent real-world crime series, with a mix of action and character-driven elements that's kinda-sorta comparable to Scorsese's gangster films

Or Monster and Master Keaton are extremely good real-world crime series, but with a more serious, less frenetic feel.

Or you might like Durarara, Canaan and Jormugand?
