Kind of difficult to explain. I'm looking for an anime where the MC runs away or is presumed dead (preferably the latter) by his/her friends and then shows up either injured or to help in a fight but alive all the same. I know this is really tricky but I've been looking for something like this for ages.

The only one I can think of is 91 days. Basically about this guy who was supposed to be killed with his family by gangsters, but survives. He comes back after 7 years to take revenge. Nobody knows it's the kid that survived because he picked a new name and has aged. Try reading the synopsis for more info.

Gundam seed - presumed dead (Killed in Action), but comes back at a critical moment to save the day

Kaze no Stigma - ran away from home when small cause his family thought he was too weak, comes back years later wayyy stronger than everyone else.

Busou Renkin - sacrifices himself, everyone thinks he's dead, but is alive.

In No Game No Life, the MC literally vanishes from existence before turning up again later.
