| Josef watched her write. |
| "Yeah?" |
| "That's good." |
| "I tried to have a journal for a little while. Didn't go too well. I never really used it. Plus Lucas made fun of for it." |
| "Well, I guess that's why Lucas writes poetry." |
| "Morbid emo poetry rarely REALLY helps anyone." |
| "He's Lucas' favourite. Go figure." |
| "Eh, you guys have more in common than you think. You're both vampires, for a start, you like poetry, you both care about me, you're both stubborn as hell, and you both stand up strongly for what you believe in." |
| "Why thank you. Besides, I'm sure if you have that much in common then you'll get along one day." |
| "I'm sure you will. Lucas rigt now just isn't used to the idea that nothing's going to happen to him." |
| "Yeah, you're not the only one there. It kind of gives you a feeling of helplessness..." Back with Lucas, Amber had long since left, having to go home before dark otherwise her parents would be suspicious (since she's only human and not actually a student at the school.) |
| Lucas got up and decided to go back to the school. He heard Josef and Gwen talking, but he didn't want to interrupt them. "Well, a lot of it is up to Lucas." Said Josef. His brother was still within earshot. "We can't stop worrying and can't stop feeling helpless until he decides that his life holds more importance than he thinks it does." |
| "I know, but it may be best just to help make him feel like he's worth something. Obviously he doesn't think so." |
| Lucas scowled and crossed his arms when he heard this. "I don't know..." Josef said. "That probably won't help anything. I know it'll be hard with your...condition at the moment, but you should try to be as nice to him as possible. You know, without creeping him out. Then at least he'd feel like it's okay for him to be around us." |
| "Okay, I'm glad you'll try. I think what he needs is just to regain some sense of normalcy." Josef paused and then laughed slightly. "At least he's not dressing like a goth anymore." He commented. 'What was wrong with that?' Lucas thought. |
| "Yeah, you should have seen him two years ago. All black, even in the summer, combat boots, eyeliner, earpiercings, he even dyed his hair." |
| "I'm sure he'll still have all the earrings. You'd just have to look for them though since he grew his hair out a bit. I wonder what made him lose it all. I tried to get him to dress normally for like three years but I couldn't do it. Now, two years later he suddenly looks normal." "I resent that." Josef whipped around. "You were listenning?" |
| "Since just before you started talking about my fashion choices." |
| "Yes, I did." |
| "Whatever." "Hey, out of curiosity Lucas, do you actually still have all those ear piercings or did you ditch them too?" Asked Josef. In response, Lucas brushed his hair aside to reveal multiple earrings gone through his left ear, including several up the side of his ear as well. "I was too lazy to get rid of 'em so I kinda just left them in there." |
| "Is that it? You sounded so interested to know when Josef had told you how I used to dress, then all you say is 'huh'?" |
| "Well to be perfectly honest I DID expect you to burst out laughing. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad you didn't but, you know, I still expected more of a reaction." "Not everyone is swept away by your emo sob story Lucas." Said Josef. "Apparently not." |
| "Oh, are you? I'm SO sorry." Lucas said sarcastically. |
| Josef jumped as the snake leapt out of the water and Lucas caught it by the head. "How on earth-?'' Josef started. "I have good reflexes." Lucas replied. The snake hissed and writhed but remained stuck in Lucas' grasp. "You're seriously afraid of this thing?" He asked Gwen. |
