I turn around to look at the door from which Trent's voice had suddenly come. I turned back to Maab, and we both enjoyed a brief smirk. I'm nearly two thousand years removed from my mother's womb, while Maab makes me appear an infant in terms of power, wisdom, and age. The squabble between the two males was nothing more than two children punching at one another in feeble anger. For a brief moment, Maab's displeasure faded. Capitalizing on her sudden thaw, I asked about the wyrds of the men who'd raped me, and impaled me with cold iron.
