Looking for characters like Tohru Honda (Fruits Basket)

The particular aspect I am looking for is how she's a calming agent for many of the characters and she helps save them from themselves. This is NOT necessarily the same as the Team Mom trope (though the character may also be the Team Mom), the Team Mom is there to comfort everyone, but might not necessarily save any characters from their own dark side, which is what I'm looking for. Usually done through direct interaction. And obviously this means that there must be some messed up character he or she is helping, so I guess it kinda needs both sides of the coin. Usually, this will result in a "stay with me forever?" "of course" exchange of some sort I find.

Characters I can think of like this:
Tohru Honda (Fruits Basket)
Eiji Okamura (Banana Fish)
Noriko (From Far Away)
Sehara (1001 Nights manhwa)

I want to say Haruhi Fujioka from Ouran High School Host Club. The part I'm thinking of is how she helps the twins, Hikaru and Kaoru feel that they're not isolated from the outside world anymore. I don't know if that helps.

You know this is a bit hard despite it combining two of the most common sort of romance tropes - the 'changed by the love of a good woman' type thing (think this has its base in playing on girl's fantasies that they can change their boyfriend to make him perfect :) ) and also that sort of jesus figure that walks into town and changes everyone's lives (common in reverse harems).

Maybe Makino with Domyouji from Hana Yori Dango. His character was violent in the past, but then after meeting Makino supposedly calms down a bit. She's not really a 'calming' person though and it may just be that he doesn't engage in that because he's not bored anymore because of Makino and/or has just grown out of it... So maybe that's just co-incidental!
