I would like some good "mature" anime. Most anime I have seen so far has been under15 and that gets old. I have seen a few more mature ones like Elfen lied, and Claymore, but those did not have the "romantic" component I like. Clannad was very good and had the romantic component but the main couple never even so much as KISSED in the whole anime but they had a child together.. Also, when I say " romantic" I dont necessarily mean chick flick lovey dovey stuff. I mean sex :P and not something that will leave me feeling like my heart wastrampled by a herd of buffaloes. I also dont want Hentai. Also, I Don't understand a lot of the terms used to describe anime such as : shounen, Bishounen etc ( saw those terms in here somewhere and had to look them all up LOL) Hentai is just too gross, graphic, and unrealistic unrealistic... but at the same time I get tired when the series builds and builds and FINALLY in the very LAST episode there is maybe a hug or kiss... I dont mind nudity, or even showing a LITTLE of the action... but the story is more important than the sexual content. I'm watching "Rumbling Hearts" right now but I hear that is very depressing... so I dunno if I am going to like it. ( some drama and conflict is of course necessary to the plot but SHEESH don rip my heart out in the process.. LOL) |

I think you're asking for a little too much... Most non-hentai anime is shown on TV in Japan so they're not going to have a whole lot of sex in them. The only one I can think of that you may enjoy is Natsuyuki Rendezvous, but that doesn't really have explicit sex and it's pretty heart-wrenching at points. You might like Chobits...or maybe even School Days but I'm not sure that's what you're looking for either. I'd suggest looking through the anime search using the "ecchi" tag and see what comes up. |

I did not mean to imply explicit sex... as far as what anime I have seen... Hmm... well right now I am watching "Rumbling hearts" it has some"love scenes" Im not very good at describing what I want. Im not trying to imply I want to see the actual ACT.. just Similar to what is in Rumbling hearts I guess.. Just less... Heart wrenching... Others I have seen in the past was Elfen Lied, Clannad, Clannad After Story, Claymore.. and a lot of PG14 stuff on Hulu that I cant remember the names of... I liked the story for Nura rise of the yoki clan.. but that had no actual relationships in it.. Hitiro no Kakera had a good story and they did have a few kisses in the second season... I did enjoy elfen lied but its been a while and what I remember most about it is mostly the violence and blood.. not much romance to it. Other than that my list is pretty small. I had heard someone mention REC.. and when I looked it up it sounds interesting.. but have not watched it yet |

You listed anime that fail in presenting mature themes. The only example that would even fall under being mature would be Clannad After Story. Elfen Lied, Claymore and Clannad are not mature in anyway. Edit - Fan service and comic relief don't make an anime, or any story for that matter, immature. |

Well....well...well, I don't think School Days qualifies as "ripping your heart out" feeling, more like rage. Mature? Perhaps. Definitely not lovey dovey/watered down kids stuff. Sex? It happens but not on levels of naked scenes. So why not... I second School Days! |

It seems OP wants some Josei I guess then? (Josei = directed to +18 females ) If that's the case then I second Nana and Honey and Clover, and I'll add Bokura ga Ita. And while you're at it, you can try Chihayafuru, though it's more about a sport called Karuta. |

cdavis10_1975 said: Stop getting offended over it. They may be flaming you for it, but when you wanna ask people for recommendations, you need to have a list so we can use it as reference. It isn't that you're dumb, nor is it that you're ignorant, but it seems like you're just being lazy. It doesn't take long to figure out how to fill out the list, nor does it take long to fill up the anime you know. It takes 10-15 minutes tops. You'd rather sit here and try to justify why you don't have a list when you could it be making it. Anyways, just go watch Nana and Honey and Clover.Never mind. thanks for the few suggestions I did get. but I did not come here to be called dumb simply because I choose not to explore the entire site before asking for some suggestions. The things that the main character does in that show, along with the reactions from the side characters is what makes it unrealistic. Ending aside, the way that things happen in that show is what makes it unrealistic. The ending was the most reasonable thing in that entire show. :D |

Well the biggest case: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_and_Lorena_Bobbitt http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2011/12/23/police-arrest-ex-girlfriend-of-man-found-stabbed-to-death-in-brooklyn/ Point: That stuff really happens. I mean there are harems that I watch that I feel like, "this is so unrealistic and ridiculous", which in school days there were times I felt like that, but I did feel like it was able to capture those emotions well that the characters went through. I think that's why it can be considered as more "mature" and possibly somewhat realistic. |
