When Kahimi woke up, she found herself in a state of confusion. She got up off the uncomfortable excuse for a bed a decided to take a gander of the defaced room she was in. The first thing that spotted her eye was the camera. She moved slowly across the room to see what it would do. It's reaction and instinct was to follow her, once she saw it move, she knew someone was staring, checking, right now on the other end. That fact, combined with an empty room, made her emotions stir up. Angry, sad, and to a point, fear. She had to calm herself down, because she knew, that in order to get through this, she'd need to be able to process everything.
She stared at the camera once again, for how long, only the recording would know. She felt like destroying it, smashing it to bits, anything to get rid of the black eye. As if her ears perked up, she heard a voice. Once it said "All", she knew there were others in the same situation. Once it said "Arena", she knew this was a game. When the booming voice finished its echo, there was a metallic squeal as the door to the outside opened up. Looking outside, Kahimi knew that they were meant to be kept here, until someone won. For what other reason would they give us the outside, yet continue to inhibit our freedom with metal walls. True, they formed a path, but it's impossible to say what she would meet on the other end, and there was only one path.
She grew flustered with the decisions to make. Go or stay? Death or longevity? Freedom or enslavement? Kahimi took a step outside and took a deep breath. She only had one clear choice, and it had to be made swiftly. At first she squandered her steps. The sun was peering down on her. She remembered how the outside felt, and a tear fell from her face. She noticed it enough to fix herself up and gain a courage boost. After that she started taking gallant steps, fast enough for a quick pace, but also slow enough to take it all in. She hadn't known how long she'd been in that room, but all she knew was that she needed this.
Meanwhile the map lay hooked on the wall, completely disregarded. |
