Did L know his death was coming?

Some of the end scenes in the anime suggest that he knew, for example when he wipes Light's feet it could be seen as submissive aka accepting he lost.

I think he did. I just watched the episode where he dies a minute ago (rewatching the series) and it seemed like he knew it was coming. I must say, episode 25 is my least favorite episode and if it were real I'd kill Light myself. Seriously, f--- that guy.

I also think he did. And this moment, on the roof, when he hear the bells, could also mean that he know.

I honestly believe that he knew, the only thing I will say is that I believe his death came a couple of days sooner than he originally expected, but he knew his time was up and that the end was very near- He knew that he had lost.

I think he did because he did mention him and Light (Kira) share the same fate when they were handcuffed

But did he really lose in the end? If you think about it he won! Think about it in a Japanese Taskforce and the NPA memeber's point of view. They didn't think Light was Kira but L did and he tried almost everything possible to prove it. Yeah he may have never succeed but everything added up to Light being Kira in the end.

Hmm... Since he knew from the start that Light was Kira somehow, he probably seemed to know that his death was near... It is my perception actually...

I think it was pretty clear that he knew. That episode on the roof, the lack of emotion, the confusion that he had sometimes, the lack of confidence in some of his moves, the overthinking, etc. The show and the situations during the episodes before his death really point to a decadent death of mentality and personality.

he probably did cause well he's L XD
I also have a theory that L is still alive as maybe L replaced himself with beyond birthday (his successor who was imprisoned at the moment) beyond birthday died cause Light killed him with a heart attack a year before L died( they said this but no proof)so...L is way to smart to die just like that so i think he took him out of jail just to help with the investigation and placed him in the investigation place as L and L told him what to do on phone with his TeLePhOnIc VoIcE XD.
i know this is isnt the topic here and this seems kinda forced but i choose to belive this cause i love L more than anything XD

Yes, his way of acting, the reference to Jesus when he dries Light's feet and when he says "It will be lonely, isn't it? You and I will parting ways soon", confirm that he knew.

Yes he did. In the scene in the rain L mentions the bells and says "I wonder if it's a church, maybe a wedding, or perhaps a..." I think what he was going to say next was "a funeral". Also, in the foot scene he says "It'll be lonely won't it?" and "You and I will be parting ways soon" so yeah he definitely knew he was going to die. RIP
