While I'm watching the Cat's Eye remake week to week, I'm watching the original, I gotta say, Hitomi and Rui look way finer here, the difference is insane ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿฅต๐Ÿฅต๐Ÿฅต๐Ÿฅต๐Ÿฅต

And Ai looks way adorable here, must protecc at all costs ๐Ÿ˜Š

the original series looks great and is super charming. banger op and ed too.

however, season 2 is done by a different director. the art style, direction, and storytelling all fall off very hard, unfortunately.

@OzuWatchinAnime Wait what!? Season 2 fell off? How? They didn't follow the material?

@Jeremygrandison Yes, from what I understand it stopped following the source material. Also, one gets that impression just from watching season 2. For example, the central romance develops quite a bit in season 1, and then sort of stops mattering. The series just falls into boring episodic stuff while also lacking season 1's directorial flair. I ended up only buying season 1 when the Blu-ray sets came out because of this.

I recommend reading the Japanese version of the series' Wikipedia article for more info. You can just have your browser translate the page into English.

@OzuWatchinAnime Interesting

So, should I enter Season 2 with the manga?
