Plot Summary

Midori is in a bit of a bind. She is in debt, and her landlady is trying to shake her down for unpaid rent. Her best friend refuses to loan her cash since she's wised up to her tricks. Maybe some bullying would help. Or a bit of petty theft? Neither is sustainable. Maybe getting a job would settle things... But working means less time for fun adventures in the big city...

Episode 1

It's pretty obvious by the art style that this is by the same guy who did Nichijou and as such, it's a series of mini-stories and skits. I'm hoping that there's an epic scene out there, such as the one with the school principal wrestling with a deer.

So to start things off, Tatewaku is forced to put on a miniskirt by his father, a so-called lucky item, Ecchan and Matsuri does silly things as the Go-Home Club, Nagumo quits her job and ends up seeing a chef drop some hot, crispy noodles twice inside some old man's bag that turns out to be Tatewaku's while giving the old man a cork in the forehead. And then Izumi can't help but to feel happy about feeling mushrooms, and Nagumo tries to scam Niikura out of an extra-large helping of staff meals as a joke before talking about the future as Nagumo just wants to do something fun.

While it's a lot of random stuff, it's all great humor. Unfortunately, there's nothing like that eyecatch where Hakase and Nano played rock, paper, scissors that made the show so great, but in any case it's fun and KyoAni's artwork brings it all out.

Pretty funny, characters are just OK though. Animation seems like a step down from Nichijou. Guess I'll see where it goes.

This is the one show I'm authentically depressed that Amazon got.
I like Kyoto Animation stuff in general and I really did like Nichijou even though it took me a rewatch for it to grow on me given I enjoyed the other gag humour shows of the time.

Episode 2

Nagumo and Wako are fighting with their cameras after Wako catches Nagumo leaping over someone. Then Todoroki gets the task that he has always dreamed of getting. Then Niikura gets a package and she ends up making faces in front of the delivery man. Then Niikura explains how she met Nagumo as she's quite talented at everything, with Niikura capturing it all on film. They quickly became friends, but then Nagumo would transfer schools. And after some more crazy stories, it ends with Todoroki and Kamaboko making great progress on their manga project, and after that Niikura tries to figure out what to do with a 500 yen coin that somebody dropped. Good thing the one who dropped it came back to pick it up before she could decide what to do, so all is well and good. Fun stuff once again as there's never a dull moment in this city.

OK, I like the photographer girl the best I guess. Too bad this doesn't have any real off beat characters, they're all so normal and similar. My favorite from Nichijou were Hakase and Nano and Sakamoto, I miss that level of wackiness (and cuteness).

Episode 3

Tekaridake is attacked by animals as he runs a theatrical group that uses animals as actors. Then Riko has a trip down memory lane as she goes out for some takoyaki at the park in a scene that feels like that ricocheting octopus sausage scene in Nichijou. Then Nagumo and Niikura head to the bakery where there's only one piece of bread left that serves as a riddle about life choices, and the shop owner ChauSu brings out a yakisoba bread. Them Ecchan and Matsuri exchange trinkets and stuff, and realize they really like each other and think they can win a Noble Peace Prize with universal kindness. Then Nagumo and Niikura are wearing mismatched sleepwear as Niikura is wearing only wearing the shirt while Nagumo is wearing only the pants, and the hariesen is actually an old treasure map folded into the fan that has the three going on a treasure hunt where anything goes. And by that, Wako lays out the traps, and the treasure turns out to be a bull's skull. Pretty funny stuff once again, and this time there was a long segment there at the end. To end this, Adatara tries to wake Riko with a paper airplane, the so-called modern day William Tell, and then makes coffee in secret. Things really get out of hand when these characters really get into it.

Well I liked the bread guy and the monkey. I don't know this is the same complete randomness as Nichijou but something's missing.

Episode 4

Nagumo spots a tsuchinoko at a police station on the way back from a delivery, and sets a trap as a reward. Then Tatewaku hears somebody claiming to be his future self in his room, and he answers three questions, and it turns out to just be his father. Then Nagumo gets attacked by Hotaka on the way back from a delivery. Then Tsurubishi eats the same gratin on the menu at a restaurant and quickly gets sick of it before the restaurant closes down. Then Niikura loses it when Nagumo does laundry and causes the clothes to shrink, and a locket ends up in one of the washed pants, with a rabbit running away with it. Ecchan comes across it while eating her burger. And the chase continues with Niikura and Nagumo managing to surround the rabbit, but Hotaka takes Nagumo away in a limo. More silly stuff here, and the while locket chase part was pretty hilarious from the attempted pole vault to Oni's makeshift red light.

Episode 3

With so many things going on at once that there were split panels to show everything that's happening, with as many of nine of them at once. So it turns out Nagumo was kidnapped and taken to the top of one of the towers at Tanabe mansion, and while it has everything to make her life comfortable, she would rather leave, and so is the guy known only as Good Person who helps her deal with the "fearsome" guardians on the way down. But they were total pushovers from a fake magician to Mitsuami who just needed to meet up with her childhood friend Soroban, to an injured karate man. While that's going on, Niikura continues to chase the rabbit who stole the locket, but gives up the chase after Nagumo called for her help, while the locket ends up at a shop put for sale for just 100 yen. And Tatewaku finds a tsuchinoko, and everybody ends up at a party outside the base of the towers. Then that ending was pretty amusing as well, seeing a giant Buddha smashing a house back in the feudal era, and then building those towers where the Tanabe mansion is today. Pretty amusing to see as many as nine things at once going to show that so much goes on in the city.

Episode 6

The Adatara family is a big one with five children, and they start a day after a wild morning with the twin girls Sora and Umi asking to go with father, while grandpa snoozes through so many whacks to the head. Then Niikura gets hit in the head with so many stray soccer balls she thinks the players were aiming for her. Than the Adatara family grandpa passes away while the family is out and about, but he's not really dead as all that was needed to wake him up was a sketch on his nose. Then Kamaboko feels powerless in the face of talent. Tatewaku is taking a test and the class is looking to cheat their way so that nobody has to take remedial classes. But it turns out that they all end up taking remedial classes so that they can stay together. Then Todoroki tries to recruit Wako to becoming a mangaka after finding her sketches, but Wako isn't interested. Then Riko puts on a green pumpkin on her head and is "possessed" by it, acting as if she became Nobunaga. With a large family that things were bound to get out of hand with the Adatara family, and Todoroki has to put up with so many eccentric personalities there, and could have used Wako, but she didn't want that.

Episode 7

Ecchan and Matsuri form the not thinking alike club, but they find it hard to not think about the same thing. Then Tsurubishi takes a customer on a journey for the best ingredients to make the best fried rice after his dissatisfaction with the restaurant's fried rice that was supposed to be the best, but it only was average. Then Nagumo, Niikura, and Wako spend a boring evening together. Later that night Niikura munches on raw instant ramen as a late night snack and has a rather thoughtful way to describe her experience. Then an old guy who runs a barber shop ranks his customers and shows off a trophy he was awarded for repairing the city. Then to end this a quiz competition, and whoever thought that pillbugs would be a prize on that show has a pretty wicked mind. That was pretty funny from the journey for the best fried rice to eating raw instant ramen, and of course the quiz show at the end.

Episode 8

Tanabe is asking her butler to get sot stuff from Arataka liquors. Then a police officer tries his hardest to avoid falling in love as that's one thing he's not supposed to do for his job. Then Tatewaku is looking to form a rock band, but can't settle on a band name since everything they are thinking of is already taken. So they come up with Obon Jovi, an obvious reference to Bon Jovi the combines Obon and Jovial. Then he decides to visit a boutique needing clothes, but is quite surprised at the crazy prices, and he ends up buying a tee that looked like it came from the trash heap. Makabe completes the outfit with distressed jeans and mismatched shoes, while Ecchan and Matsuri play along. Then Tekaridake puts on a play with Nagumo playing the role of Momotaro, telling it as a rhyme, and that was pretty amusing. I must say that everybody's sense of fashion is messed up here, and Tatewaku is such a clueless guy.

Episode 9

Here is the annual city race where there are tons of obstacles and the teams are running in pairs where they must be together to pass through. From the matching part where these pairs are having a hard time trying to write matching answers, to the racing pairs themselves with Tatsuta carrying Tanabe all the way through, among other things, it was pretty crazy. Then there's Nagumo and Niikura trying to win the million-yen prize, even when it looked like Nagumo was ready to throw in the towel. But in the end, it was Ecchan and Matsuri who won as they rode their "vehicles", the can stilts, towards the finish line when everybody else was distracted. As for how they plan to spend their million-yen prize, they have a lot to think about, but they best save it.

Episode 10

Niikura and Nagumo are taking extreme measures to improve their streaming numbers thinking they can strike it rich through livestreams, but Nagumo doesn't feel enthusiastic about it. But Nagumo is feeling motivated after doing a delivery dressed up as a fox. That rabbit stole the tempura from the soba to be delivered, and instead of just waiting for a new one to be made, Nagumo and Niikura decide to chase the rabbit, managing to get it back before delivering it to Kamaboko. Then Tekaridake puts on a show starting an echidna, and that was an amusing musical. Then Riko has a growing fan club that has Tatewaku trapped. Then remedial classes for class 2-3 come to an end just as the summer is almost over, and Tatewaku's memory of summer is being rejected, and the teacher suggesting that Guinness is a buzzword. Makabe Aratara, and head to Hell for a vacation, and they do so in the middle of a typhoon. Then it ends with a next episode preview, which turns out to be just a joke as Tatewaku explains how he got rejected by Riko. Summer is coming to an end and it's only natural that they want to make as many memories they can before it's back to school.
