I'm pretty sure people have already talked about this, but I want a fresh opinion from those who may have just recently watched it.

I was rewatching the entire Quintessential Quintuplets series and realized I hadn't seen the specials before. Only after that did I find out they were released a year after the movie—a fact I wasn’t aware of.
So I was wondering what made them decide to do that, because it clearly disrupted the flow of the story. I can see why it made people angry (rushed ending, etc.).

I'm not going to go into details, since I don't want to put everything under spoiler tags. Also, the majority of people who are going to answer this have presumably already seen the whole thing.
So I want to ask your opinion about that decision and how it impacted your viewing experience and also if you think you would've changed your mind about the ending, if you were to watch it in chronological order.

Please refrain from comments like: "I wanted <insert quintuplet/s> to win! :'((((((" — I don't care about that. Thanks

This thing, is a little phenomenon you'll often come across in entertainment media. It's called 'milking the cash cow'.

So, I watched both seasons of the show before the final film came out.
Then I switched to the manga because it had already ended, and I was pretty invested in the story.
Then, I watched the film and these specials as they came out, on a yearly basis.

I'll need someone to correct me if I'm wrong, but these specials were separately written by the author to be anime canon, and were not in the manga. Especially the recent honeymoon specials.
Gotoubun is wildly popular in Japan, so they keep doing these specials to feed the audience craving for more content from the series.

About making the 'pace' better- no one really thought that was an anime exclusive problem. The manga pretty much flowed at the same pace.

In the natural course of an anime adaptation some chapters are skipped, specials like this offer the anime-only fan to experience them.

As to why they released it in the first place? The direct answer will be milking. Quintuplets is a successful franchise, after all.

The honeymoon specials were indeed anime canon, but this entry adapts chapters from the manga. The synopsis here quite literally state so.

@certifiedbinger So what you're saying is that the manga ended in a similar way? I have never read it and I think I never will, so I have no clue about that.

And I didn't mean pacing, as I think it was really good in the series, but the flow of the story would be clearer with the second half of the last special being introduced before the school festival arc (yk what I mean ;) ). I just think it would make a lot more sense.

Ah, my bad. The honeymoon specials were fresh in my mind, so I assumed the first ones were also the same.
I can barely recall a swimsuit chapter being in the manga.

They want money and "eliminated scenes" is a good excuse for this
