I was looking for anime to watch, and I saw Owari no Seraph with a 7.5 score. I thought I would give it a shot.
The first episode was great. It introduced the world, gave the MC a motive, and showed us the antagonists. However, after that, it just keeps going downhill. I finished episode 12 and had to make this post to know if I'm tripping or what.
My first beef is with the world, the vampires have access to helicopters, and airplanes however nobody uses technology. The main human defense uses white weapons and bows, but why don't they use fire weapons if the vampires are using missiles and shit? Also, they make us believe the world is a wasteland while the place the MC stays after running away from the vampires is as peaceful as it can be.
The animation is bad, every fight is short and senseless. You don't get the sense of danger they are talking about every minute in the anime. And the power balance sways too much, first, the vampires are invincible, and then the humans with demonic weapons can beat them just with one hit. But wait, some vampires have weapons and can fight so only the special unit of humans can beat them. So the special force is OP. Now there are the noble blood vampires that the special force can even scratch. The anime keeps doing this from one episode to the other.
Also first they say the vampires released some virus that kills every human above 13 years old. And later there are people older than that - I figured if you have a contract with a demon you are immune to the virus. There are also these monsters that they call Horsemen of The Apocalypse, that just appear out of the blue, together with demons and angels(?). Were they always part of the world or did they just appear as a side effect of the virus?
They try to develop the main cast but are just hammering the same shit over and over. The MC thinks over and over that he abandoned his family and keeps on making the same mistakes. When the 3 guys are making the pact with the demons something they said would be very hard, they just breeze through it as if it were nothing.
Also, the main character is obsessed with vengeance but never trains, they never show him training to kill every vampire, as he says. He is strong just because.
The show is so bland and forgettable that I only remembered I had watched it on the 3rd or so episode when somethings came to my mind. |
