| Netflix working on a program to replace human background designers The industry is doomed, man. Summing it up, Studio WIT made a project that used AI generated backgrounds "as an experimental effort to assist the animation industry, which is short on manpower", a statement which is absolute bullshit. The main thing the Eastern animation industry is short on is enough humanity to pay their animators enough money to support themselves. Here's a link to a thread by the director of Castlevania commenting on it. Studios that already treat their creative staff like garbage are just going to treat them worse, and view them as replaceable. "What's the point in paying for human talent when we could just pass it off to a computer program that can run it for free?" The creation and appreciation of art has always been one of the most valuable parts of the human experience. I guess humans have decided they don't want that anymore. Apparantly we'd rather have a computer generate us content for us to consume. Life is a visual novel and humanity keeps picking the worst possible routes. |

  It's not just the anime industry, it's the media industry as a whole. The strategy is to capitalize on a pre-existing intellectual property so you don't have to take any risks, and give nothing back to those that built it up.
